  1. The Next President

They are largely agreeing with you? This whole thread reads like you're looking for a fight. Chill out.
  2. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Rumor going around that Nintendo will shut down production on Wii U this year. I'm seeing lots of people gloating about how trash Nintendo is now in comments sections, which yeah, I'm reading comments sections on games news sites so what do I expect. Its probably my favorite console since the DS. No one else does local multiplayer or platformers better than Nintendo, and those are my favorite things in games.
  3. Other podcasts

Thanks for this! Purge was always my favorite Dota community guy because he mostly seems positive and nice, especially towards new players. I've been wanting a dotacast from seemingly well adjusted people ever since Dotatoda stopped.
  4. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Twilight Princess is basically OoT but bigger, which is fine. If it had a non-terrible intro I think it would have a much better reputation. I have been playing Pikmin 3 lately after getting it in some promo forever ago and man that game is fun and charming. The controls are kinda wonky bit totally manageable once I get the controller set up on my lap comfortably. Also bought a copy of Bayonetta 1&2 online and am super looking forward to that. I'll probably end up buying that new Star Fix on release, too. It's crazy going from Steam sales to apparently super limited Nintendo print runs.
  5. The Big VR Thread

The PS VR price point has me very excited for a few years from now when I can upgrade my graphics card and can grab a vive 3 for not one thousand dollars total.
  6. Movie/TV recommendations

If you're in the US Hulu has Solaris, Andrei Rublev, and Nostalghia in addition to Ivan's Childhood as part of their excellent Criterion selection.
  7. Movie/TV recommendations

I caught Hail, Caesar over the weekend and it's probably my least favorite coen movie I've seen, by a long shot. It just did nothing for me. There were bits here and there that were good but it never came together for me. It felt overstuffed. I felt like I didn't get it, but I also that there wasn't anything to get really? I don't know. I'm disappointed.
  8. Firewatch Spoiler Thread | Henry Two Hats

Yeah I kind of used it to take good or funny pictures, then started documenting stuff. The picture of the kid's body turning up in my wacky summer photo set was kind of horribly funny. Also I think Delilah was convinced that Ned killed Brian but I really thought it was an (avoidable) accident. I guess that's sort of the same thing though... This game was a real bummer a lot of the time. I wanted my Henry to go back and live near Julia but he was kind of a jerk about it. "Yeah, sure...." I just think the first person perspective make me feel like I should have more say in who the character is, in a way that I don't when I'm playing like, a telltale game. I'm not sure if this was a bug but when I found the backpack with the key to the cave I wasn't able to look through it, but Henry somehow knew everything that was in it?
  9. Firewatch Spoiler Thread | Henry Two Hats

Finished this last night. Did anyone who paid more attention than me know what was up with the rangers who left notes for each other in the caches? It wasn't Ned was it? I forgot to keep the names straight in my head and was kind of confused at the end. I also missed out on a lot of the hidden stuff, I was trying to keep the narrative going as I was playing with the gf. Also I want to see your camera rolls! Here's mine: https://firewatch.camera/MajorFranciscoRetreat
  10. I think you are also me. PC is starting to show it's age, played up to the end of day 2 with a steam controller and stopped because gf was nodding off. Also seconding the "you all should put that soundtrack on wax with that album art" because holy moly I would buy that so fast.
  11. So hype for tomorrow! I've gotta ask though, does this game have native support for the Steam Controller? What about the Novint Falcon??
  12. Movie/TV recommendations

I started up season 2 of Rectify and I forgot how good that show is. It's really good! Better than a lot of things!
  13. Games with Dead Cats in Them

Does the cat need to be seen or just mentioned? Half Life 2 contains at least one dead cat, canonically.
  14. Nintendo 3DS

I'd be way more into it if it didn't take a million years to load and require an internet connection to open. Can you even change badges around without opening the game? It takes sooo loooooong.
  15. How do you organize your steam library?

I tried to tag some stuff with "local multiplayer" but that removed them from my main games category! Aigh! I hate this.
  16. Recently completed video games

I finished Wolfenstein: The New Order the other day. It was a good goddamn video game. I wish more games had stealth that doesn't make you feel like an idiot when you get spotted. It was super polished and everything felt great, and the writing wasn't actively terrible! It even passes the Bechdel test!
  17. Movie/TV recommendations

He's really good at making this type of movie though. Like the score and all the performances and the cinematography were all pretty great. It was super fun to watch. I don't LOVE it but it was good and I liked it. There's more to a movie than the plot.
  18. The Big VR Thread

Yeah, that prices it out of my range for sure. I'm assuming most people will be looking to upgrade their rigs around the same time which only adds to that price. I wonder if the vive will be around the same price. I know they had said they would be the more expensive option but maybe they were expecting $400-500 for the rift too? That thing looks way more interesting than the rift at this point anyway. If I was going to buy in, I'd go all in.
  19. Xcom: Enemy Within should play fine for you. I also love Frozen Synapse and Frozen Cortex for quick strategizing while I'm doing other stuff.
  20. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Yeah the worst part of MRA idiocy is they are so close to getting it right sometimes. Like there are a lot of things like that that hurt men. The big problem they have is they blame women/feminism instead of you know, the actual culture of the world/patriarchy.
  21. Movie/TV recommendations

I saw Hateful Eight over the weekend and liked it a decent amount. I'd probably rank it as a mid tier Tarantino but if Kurt Russell and an Ennio Morricone score sounds like a thing you'll like, this has those in spades.
  22. Return of the Steam Box!

Was it the GTA update or a steam update? GTA V is really weird for me too. Sometimes it'll just not load past the rockstar launcher thing unless I open it from my desktop, then close it then open it through the link, and yeah those load times are terrible. I haven't tried since the latest GTA update though.
  23. The terrible wallet scourge of the Amiibo.

Holy shit. I keep thinking I'll pick up one these things eventually but never do. I don't know who my favorite Nintendo character is. Maybe a Kirby or yoshi.
  24. DOTA 2

Which one was 6.83? Anyway the aether lens item is so much fun, and pretty easily attainable on the supports I typically play. Grabbed one on rubick after we push a few towers and oh man it opens up a lot of room for clutch plays. It seems like the off lane is going to be totally different now that you can maybe pull the creeps? I've not tried it yet. It's super weird having to figure out new ward spots around the runes.
  25. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

I don't play the game often enough to drop 45 on the expansion, especially if they include it in the price of the next one like they did here. I am one of the people who paid full price, but after it was released. I don't want to keep getting the worst deal. Will still enjoy flying around grinding though, but it just bums me out.
