  1. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

Thinking about picking this up over the weekend. I'm curious about how much hard drive space it needs though. Would it benefit from being on my SSD of it can fit?
  2. GenCon 2015

I'm very seriously considering going this year. Its not too far a drive, and it could be a rad weekend. Definitely gonna gauge interest among my friend group since the SO will likely not be interested.
  3. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

http://youtu.be/wtO0EunG0IQ I recommended this movie in the movie/tv thread, but the soundtrack is rad too so I'm gonna poop this right in here as well.
  4. Dota Today 15: James Lawlor with Synderen

As near as I can tell the LAN option requires an authentication to the Dota 2 network and then allows you to host entirely local games. The most recent info I can find is from when they first added it back in 2013 though. Could have improved by now, but I doubt it. Also dude, calm down.
  5. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

Ah, here's the club Nintendo chat! Yeah, I'll probably get a Wii U VC release of some game I already have. Considering buying a 3DS game or two to snag enough coins to get Earthbound.
  6. Nintendo 3DS

Do we have a general Nintendo thread? They added a bunch of stuff for NA Club Nintendo today. I only have like 200 coins currently, but they are offering full retail downloads for both Wii U and 3DS for around 600 club Nintendo coins and up. Woof. Nobody has any unused rewards codes do they... :ohdear:
  7. Super Metroid Appreciation Station

Yup! I think that's about all it does though. Lets you boot into it from the Wii U menu instead of having to open up the virtual Wii homescreen first. Also lets you use Pro Controllers I think?
  8. Super Metroid Appreciation Station

Yeah, it's $1.50 to upgrade a Wii VC game to a Wii U VC game.
  9. Movie/TV recommendations

I've not seen The Purge movies but aside from that wonderfully hook-y premise I've heard they aren't very good. Seriously though The Guest is fucking good as hell. Highly, highly recommended.
  10. wii-U or Xbox one, for my um 5 year old

They have Just Dance on WiiU, Lego games as well. Also I'd imagine there are a lot more family friendly games on the WiiU, as well as local multiplayer options. What games does your daughter want to play? Why is a PS4 out of the question? Tho if you want minecraft you have to get the xbone, but if it's just for minecraft you might as well just get the PC version.
  11. Movie/TV recommendations

Finally got around to Adam Wingard's The Guest last night and HOLY SHIT it's fucking good. It's a great thriller with a killer synth as fuck score. Dude is clearly influenced by Carpenter and it's fantastic. highly highly recommend weveryone seek this out. Top five of last year for me, easy. It's got a really fun plot so I'd advise going in blind, but I'm sure it will still be a blast even if you read up on it. So fucking good. Also You're Next, also from Wingard is a really fun horror flick and it's on Netflix instant. I love this guy.
  12. Offworld, an economic RTS from Soren Johnson

Man this game looks really rad and like something I'd fucking love, but ugh, seeing Stardock on there is giving me pause.
  13. Other podcasts

Man, I hate to trash talk someone who is clearly pretty rad and puts up with massive amounts of bullshit, but yeah, I can't really stand Wu either. She's largely why I couldn't get into Isometric even though It's really right up my alley in pretty much every way. Anywho, The Dissolve started podcasting again this past week! I've not had a chance to listen to the newest one yet, but they are my favorite people who write/talk about film, and Tasha Robinson always comes up with fun trivia games for the end of each episode.
  14. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Woof, that makes me super uncomfortable. Yeesh. I can't make it through all of this.
  15. Movie/TV recommendations

Wetlands is fucking good. Its REALLY gross, but that's part of the charm. I love how frank it is about sex and bodies. You should definitely watch it if you aren't too queasy about like, anal fissures or public toilet seats or vaginas. Currently streaming on Netflix.
  16. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Total biscuit continues to be a total biscuit. https://twitter.com/untimelygamer/status/558673192005668864?s=09
  17. Nintendo 3DS

Honestly, the stylus coming out of the bottom on the New 3DS seems like the worst change to me. I'll probably stick with my XL until the next gen handheld comes. Though the faster menus/loadtimes do look rad. And the 3D youtube support! GAH. I'm going back and playing more of my old games since I got my Club Nintendo game case and can swap them out handily in bed because I'm a lazy butt. Luigi's Mansion is so dang cute and fun.
  18. Dota Today 15: James Lawlor with Synderen

Doesn't Riot pay their players a salary? Its pretty much the exact opposite of Valve's approach.
  19. Evolve

Holy shit, I went from pretty interested in this game to "Definitely not gonna buy it" after seeing that it'll have monster/hunter DLC. The game already costs $60, which is steep for a multiplayer only thing like this (Titanfall burned me with it's lack of content), and then to have paid content that affects balance at pretty high prices? No fuckin' thanks.
  20. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Hahaha, apparently TB blocked me on Twitter since the last time he said something dumb that was RTd into my feed and I went to check it out.
  21. Pretend I don't know the first thing about making games

Tom Francis, the guy who made Gunpoint, started a . It uses Game Maker, and he assumes that you don't know the first thing about making games. It's pretty good from what I've seen so far. I think I'll try to cobble something together following this.
  22. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

New Sleater Kinney album streaming at NPR.
  23. They're taking my Freeze Peach!

To frame it in such a glib way as "my freeze peach" seems remarkably callow. Even going "yeah, it's bad that this guy was murdered BUT..." strikes me as grotesque.
  24. They're taking my Freeze Peach!

Doh! In cleaning up my post I deleted a "not." Clearly NOT right.
  25. They're taking my Freeze Peach!

Oof, I disagree with a lot of y'all on this one. Mostly the goofy meme-y tone of the thread title and first post. Like, people died. It's shitty. Don't reach for the meme bucket. Racist anti-muslim reaction is clearly not right, but neither is acting like people are whining about their ~~~~"free speech"~~~~ being taken away. People really ought to be able to think or write or draw or create whatever media they want without fear of being murdered for it. I'll draw a parallel to after Osama Bin Laden was killed and people were cheering in the streets. That was gross, right? This is pretty gross too.
