Gross, I joined the clan.

My biggest problem with the 3DS is that it feels like a toy. I'm always worried I'm going to break it or snap it in half. The Vita is the complete opposite, a really sturdy piece of hardware. Ironically, the WiiU feels great. It's incredibly well built, including the tablet and the procrontroller, while the PS4 feels like a prototype that's constantly about to fall apart.

My last post was an understatement. It's crazy fun. Highly addictive to just run about shooting things. I had a good solo story experience last night, then this morning I saved someone who was getting overwhelmed and he sent me an invite to party up. Chatted over morning coffee with some random guy. That's what I was hoping for, and I got it already. Still some things I don't understand. Looting isn't as obvious as I want it to be. It should shout at me when I get a new equipment, not a little ping in the top right. I also don't really get the currency, but that's less of an issue.

Seems pretty fun. Everything except the tremendous loading times.

What do you think made you who you are today?

Now I want to see Super Biased Man in action. Please tell me they still exist. -

Will you hate me if I post while I play?

I had to choose between broadband at 3Mb or fibre optic at 100Mb at my new place. The cost was £4 more/month for the 100Mb. Guess what I chose?

That's a good point. It's still pretty dumb that the simple act of changing discs matters to me so much. Back on topic: WOO 6 HOURS UNTIL SERVER CRASH!
-
That's fair enough. Could not find it anywhere at that price point! It would have made a huge difference if I had. Have you tried buying stuff via the US PSN? $=£ according to Sony, so if you do you save 50% on everything thanks to the exchange rate. I have an irrational hatred of standing up and changing a disc. I don't know why but it really irks me to change a game. I've been known to play the same game over and over simply because I can't be bothered to switch discs. All digital is amazing!

Digital's the way forward bro.

I'd say the first 2 seasons are immune. After that, while it is an exaggeration (I wasn't being 100% serious), The Simpsons doesn't have many entirely original plots. Not that it's a bad thing, it's what makes the show so great.

THIS! Also I think I'm going to be a giant nerd and stay up until midnight tonight and play for 5 minutes until the servers crash.

This is a recent addition to PS+ that has taken me by surprise. Not only did it hit PS+ on its release date, but its really good. Velocity 2x is basically a shmup and a 2d platformer, where you switch between your ship, and your character to enter space stations in order to open up more areas for your ship to go, which are gated by force fields. So no only is it 2 cool genres within one game, but as the title suggests, it's all about speed. The aim of most levels is to do it as fast as possible, and you have a bunch of tricks to help you. There's a teleport that can be used in both the shmup and platformer stages. It's mainly for traversal through walls, but can also be used to get through the levels way faster. The shmup sections also have a boost, which lets you move the screen. So the player controls the screen scrolling. There are leader boards too, so get to it! Especially if you have PS+, since this fantastic game is free for both PS4 and vita. Platforming: Shmup:

Too late for me. It's a couple of seasons after I lost interest. As a non-AmeriCanadian I'm really interested in viewing "SMTV" which is cited as the influence for the best of The Simpsons. If anyone here has seen it, is it worth the digging? (In a quick internet search I didn't find much.)

That's pretty much the answer I needed. Glad I came to the conclusion myself and had it reaffirmed here. Hurrah for learning!

I do find I make a lot of control mistakes when I switch between the 2d and shmup parts. You get into such a rhythm (actually Polygon commented on how it feels like a rhythm game in which you control the tempo) with the controls that it's hard to switch between them even if they are similar. Those parts are ok, unless you make a mistake - and it's quite easy to make a mistake. They're essentially ways to make the level longer. One requires you to put down 3 or 4 markers as there are branching paths from the branching paths. Fortunately a map lets you see which switches you've hit, and where you can teleport to.

Are there a list of jobs that exempt you from conscription? I need one of those.

Lazieness and apathy turned me into the workaholic I am today. -
I've always been aware that, at least in the UK, the news media tends to focus on young attractive females. Is there a murder/someone missing/car crash? The young attractive female story lasts 3 weeks, has pictures and a 2 page spread in the papers, while the unattractive or old female, or male finds a tiny column or 5 minutes on TV. My initial reaction was "Sexist! News doesn't care about men." "Lookism (god that's a shit word)! News only cares about attractive people!" However, after ruminating on that thought again recently, I don't know whether my opinion has changed, but I can see that my initial reaction could possibly be wrong. Is it actually the literal opposite? That the news is focusing on young attractive females as victims because the news is aimed at men? The best way to please an audience is to show them images of attractive members of the opposite sex, make them the victim, whilst ignoring men, not because men are less important, but because the demographic it's aimed at doesn't want to feel like a victim? Last last paragraph was a bit of ramble, so I guess tl;dr version: Is the news really aimed at men by focussing on women as victims?

I actually like that episode, and I hardly think it's fair to say "shamelessly." We don't see the resolution, he could have been terribly embarrassed or apologise about it. There is nothing to indicate that he does or doesn't feel bad about falling asleep. Only that the rest of the cast find it funny.

It changes quite a lot as you get through. There are multiple paths you can take that require you to teleport back. I can see what you mean by zero player expression, but I really love the pace of the whole thing. Constantly trying to think ahead, guessing what's going to be there. Using all the tools available to get through the level as fast as possible. I dunno, it's very different from games I usually like, but I'm really enjoying it. Although I have to play it in short bursts because each level is rather similar to the previous. While they do change quite a lot over the course of the game, it's incremental. Plus it's rather stressful!

The joke density made its way to Futurama too. There are so many gags in the first few seasons of both shows that you can't keep up with them. For every one you don't find funny, there are 5 that are fantastic, and they're shot at you so fast, you don't even notice if something falls flat. It just feels like it wasn't even meant to be funny. I love listening to the commentaries too on the DVDs (although the Futurama ones are way better than those of the Simpsons). Hearing how much time the writers put in to a note on a chalk board, or a street name is insane. The stuff you don't even notice in the background until it's pointed out.

Pretty much. He became too stupid which made it less funny and more depressing or impossible to believe. There are a couple of good episodes in season 10: Homer To The Max and Maximum Homerdrive. Mainly because they have some good one-liners or comedic set ups. Nothing amazing in general though. I also watched seasons 3-9 religiously, my old nightly ritual was to put on a simpsons DVD and watch a few episodes in bed (really helped me sleep). Had a bunch of DVDs stolen, including all my Simpsons and Futurama boxed sets.
