  1. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

W101 is such a great game hidden behind a wall of no explanations. Personally I didn't get stuck at the colour coding part, but each time you learn a new move for a weapon, it's not explained how to use that. I think platinum games require a guide for the combat, just do you understand what the hell you're supposed to do.
  2. whatcha been playing?

I'm currently playing The Wonderful 101 again, but only on normal since I lost my saved data. I also picked up Super Metroid on VC and having a blast with that. It's hard, but real good. Oh and I'm trying to get the platinum trophy for Shadows of Mordors because some of the challenges are interesting, and it makes me feel go to say I 100% completed something.
  3. Bayonetta

Curious: Is there any disadvantage to doing a dodge off-set? It seems like you might as well do it all the time, even if there's nothing to dodge...
  4. Life

Nah, not, Curry Mile. Hyde road. It's usually pretty safe, there's a bus lane that have no buses, and I usually just take up a load of space, but there's plenty of room for me to be over-taken. It's just people not looking as they're leaving a junction. I wear hi-vis everything, except for my shorts, have lights (although they could be brighter) all over my bike/helmet. Don't really know what more I can do to be visible aside from waving my hands around whilst moving.

Yeah, guy gave me £20 for the repairs that cost £12 and refused to take the change back. Really nice guy, I think the whole thing scared him more than me. Oh, and I got taken off again today. Broad daylight, on a cycle lane going past bumper-to-bumper traffic, a van pulled out onto the cycle lane and just stopped there as I was coming (it's not like there was even room for him to enter the traffic!) It was too wet for my breaks to do much but fortunately I saw him in time to bail and let my bike hit the van while I hit the tarmac. Luckily no damage to the bike, me or the van. Crazy, I've not had anything happen to me in over a year and now twice in 3 days.

I'll probably go with bayonetta. Smash can be there waiting for my December pay cheque. It's just a difficult choice: two games from a fantastic character action game developer, or the next instalment only fighting game I've ever really gotten in to.
  8. Intoxicated:

I have most of a bottle of Kraken sitting around at home. I got it as a leaving gift from my previous job, over 2 years ago now. I like it, I just can't drink spirits without a good reason, and certainly not if I'm the only person drinking.
  9. Good News Everyone

I love how a guy with a pink shirt aided in taking him down.
  10. Life

Depression sucks. I had it in my early/mid teens, but fortunately I've been pretty free from it for about 10 years. Occasionally it comes back for a week or so, but nothing like what you guys are going through. All that's happened to me recently is that I got hit by a car while cycling home from work. Bike's damaged, but the motorist is paying. My ankle's a bit fucked up, but I'm not the kind of person who would milk something and sue over an accident. Especially as I can still walk (just not run).

So...money's tight. I'm planning my November purchase and I'm torn between SSB and Bayonetta. SSB won't go down in price for a while, but will probably have an active community for a while. Bayonetta looks amazing, is 2 games in one, and I find myself far more interested in single player games. However, I'm not sure if this is a game I'll be comfortable playing in front of my other half. Any opinions on this?
  12. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

It's good. Shame they screwed up with 2.
  13. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Wow, that's some deep insight into a Lord of the Rings video game. I think I skipped pretty much every cut scene in the game, the story was so uninteresting to me, and Talion is a total jackass!
  14. Nintendo 3DS

I got EO 4 but it wasn't really my cup of tea. Way too much grinding.
  15. Nintendo 3DS

You can't multiplayer on 3ds as far as I know, unless you connect to a wiiu that also has monster hunter. I gave up on it for pretty much that reason, aside from the ridiculous amounts of grinding you need to do. I expected boss fight after boss fight, I got a game that required me to look for mushrooms and kill thousands of jaggies. To clarify you can't multiplayer online, only by connecting to another 3ds close by.
  16. Nintendo 3DS

Cool, I'll have some comments when it releases in the EU...in what 2017?
  17. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Bender is specifically a "manbot" which is clear from his moderately sized antenna. He comes from a universe where robots are gendered and even have the complexity to consider their gender assignment correct or incorrect. Also in Futurama canon it's possible for male and female robots to procreate...somehow. Oh and Futurama doesn't take itself anywhere near as seriously as mass effect 3. I just thought EDI stood out as something utterly ridiculous in that universe. All the other robots/ai had form relating to function, if herfunction was combat and ship diagnostics, why the hell did she look like that? I thought the character design was just poor...like that visor, what was that even there for?
  18. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

If you're still looking for a good reason, here it is.
  19. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Have you seen those people that practice "Western Sword Fighting" based on old sword fighting for dummies texts. It's so different to how it's portrayed on a screen. Just looks weird and awkward. Obviously they could just be doing it all completely wrong though...
  20. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

You're right. My Goatsee list is full of WiiU games. Need to get DKC though!
  21. Recently completed video games

Good game! I agree on this point, but also struggle to think of a way to do that. If they allowed you to rent items for practically no money, then getting enough rupees would be trivial and renting, pointless. The other way, with expensive items would cause dying and losing everything to be far too much of a punishment. A lot of people found the game to be too easy, which it probably was - I think I only died 6 times, 5 of which were to the same boss (and 6 is on the larger side of the number of deaths people had). I think the most interesting thing about ALBW is that Nintendo tried something new with the usual Zelda formula, and pretty much ditched tutorialisation, which brings me a lot of hope for Zelda WiiU.
  22. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

I just got branding. The possibilities make me excited!
  23. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Have you progressed to the "next area" yet? That would be really cool.
  24. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

If there are 2 captains in the mix, I'm in trouble, 3, and I'm running. When you get to a certain point there are multiple enemy types which makes it more difficult. You probably made the right choice renting it, you get to experience the whole system without the investment. I'm finding the combat challenging enough that it forces me to play stealthily as much as possible to clean out areas. Way more interesting when you're stealthy in my opinion.
  25. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

I kinda agree. I'm pretty shitty, so I've died a ton of times, Seeing the Orcs move through the ranks is pretty cool. The idea of 100+ combo is ridiculous to me. I think I managed 50...once?
