I think that game is only good the first time you play it. It's the discovery and immersion into a different universe that made me fall in love with it. All the tiny details and fantastic sound track. It was also a fairly new concept - the whole dialogue wheel. I tried to a couple of years ago, and it didn't feel the same. I don't think ME games are going to hold up as classics in 5 years time.

Congrats! That sounds pretty awesome. Are any of the other places as cool as Hawaii?

Wow, I stopped reading right here.

I love the idea of Big Dog just being the person at the office everyone hates. See BD walking past your cubicle? Kick that motherfucker.

Your first paragraph sums up how I felt about it to. It's a Bioware game, I like Bioware, but it's a pretty weak Bioware game. I want to replay the Mass Effect Trilogy now...

I'm biased towards 3d games, so it's unsurprising that I think I prefer it. I've obviously not finished it yet, so we'll see. I'm not going for 100%, it sounds like it'd be quite boring and doesn't really add any value to the experience of the game. I don't know how interested I'd be in speed running it. I'm trying to play without a guide, but I feel I'd have to use a guide to speed run the whole thing. Come to think of it, the only genre where my favourite game is 2d is stealth - Mark of the Ninja is just a perfect stealth game. Everything else (other than Rogue-likes, but that's not fair) the top game is 3d.

The settings need tweaking: Set "free aim while lock on" to "off" and set "switch jump and shoot" to "on" and it'll fix everything. I found the controls to be incredible after that. The only thing it needed was a 180 degree turn button. Turning around takes so long with a wiimote. I never saw a single pop-up achievement in Prime. Unless you mean like "You killed boss X" which I thought were in the GC version, and aren't exactly intrusive. I'm really into Prime, I just wish I could suspend/resume. Not a quick save like in VC, but a I struggle to play games with limited save points because they require a time investment. I like to be able to just sit and play for 10 minutes if I have them spare, rather than ignore the game for weeks until I get 2 hours to devote to it. It's why RPGs are best on handhelds.
-
I think a Nintendo mega-thread would be better personally. I tend to ignore the 3ds one because I rarely play any 3ds games, but there's also a lot of general discussion in here.

I played about 3 hours of Prime over the weekend. I think it's a better game, if only because it was easier to get immersed in the world than Super.

I apologise. It was never meant to come across like that. And probably should have considered the ramifications of being dismissive to what is potentially a giant leap forward. I think it's fine I've never heard of them. They've been in a bunch of stuff I'd never watch - comedy movies and American network TV. I was only interested in making fun of ghostbusters' popularity.
-
I'm sorry, I'm in the mood for winding up people for no reason today. Especially Ghostbusters fans. Yeah, I've never seen any of those things, probably because they're mainly American. The idea of watching a gender swapped "The Hangover" fills me with even more disgust than watching a gender swapped Ghostbusters. Ghostbusters is not my thing, but The Hangover caused me to walk out of the cinema. I just just being obnoxious anyway!

I get the feeling you're misinterpreting his pedantry concerning the use of "literally" with a joke about about dogs/bitches/whatever. Thought I might be way off point.

Woo! I picked up Shantae last night. It's real pretty. I didn't get to play it much because P4G has sucked me back in. This is almost certainly the wrong thread, but as a lot of Persona fans read this, I thought I'd just ask: Are you meant to level up Personas? It feels incredibly slow compared to just fusing more, that are already higher level. Also, is there any point in me keeping Izanagi? He doesn't seem to learn anything, but I get a feeling he'll become strong at some point. Unfortunately, he's now massively under leveled.

That's the first thing I looked in to. I don't have the skill nor time to do that. I do run the wire under my shirt (and jumper and jacket and scarf because it's freezing), but that doesn't make a difference. I think I'm going to buy some more of the same, if I can get a cheap extension. If not, expensive high quality ones will have to do, and I'll deal with a silent bike ride.
-
I don't think I've seen any of them in any thing, so who they are doesn't bother me in the slightest. It's more than they're making a terribly unfunny movie...again. It's probably why they couldn't get anyone famous to do it. Ok, I'll stop now. I just had to let my Ghostbusters hate out somewhere.

That part reminds me of the Illusory walls in Dark Souls. I guess inevitably you'd find it. There aren't that many places you can go after beating Ridley, but it's just down to chance, and I bet back in the day a lot of people quit there.

Persona 5 - 2015 the year of the PS3 / Persona Q - 3DS

Is that the Japanese Teddie voice in the Dancing All Night video? URGH! It's so grating, I felt like ripping my ears off. I thought English Teddie was irritating... -
I don't get Tactics Ogre. It plays weird and isn't at all fun. It's a strategy RPG, I should be all over that thing.

I just want Charizard, and I'd pay through the nose for a Mega Charizard-X.

Hmm bluetooth sounds like a pretty good idea. I'd be a little worried about my phone dying, but it seems like a decent solution. It's not chord length, I think it's how when I cycle the wires at the jack get constantly moved back and forth in my pocket to the point they break. I tried switching what pocket it's in (jeans front, jeans back, jacket outside, jacket inside), but that didn't have an effect. I am in ear (for everything). I'd really like to buy some nice headphones for music/games but the way mine always break I'm terrified of spending more than £20. Even that sounds like a lot. I'm currently buying http://www.tweakedaudio.com/parcour.html'>Tweaked audio in ear ones. They're super comfortable, have good sound quality and best of all they do 1/3rd off with free international shipping, along with the exchange rate makes them cost me £10 a set, which is an absolute steal.

Persona 5 - 2015 the year of the PS3 / Persona Q - 3DS

Wow, that's a good trailer. Shame it's not on Vita It's also coming out on PS4. Woo! I'll actually get to play it. -
I broke another set of headphones. I had 5 sets last year, it's only Feb and I've destroyed one already. Apparently you can't cycle with headphones in (before anyone says anything, I have them quiet, in one ear only and with a podcast for my relatively long cycle) because the jack gets damaged. Does any one know of robust headphones that will withstand a battering, or should I just buy another of my favorite pair and treat them like they cost £1000?

So I've been thinking about this on and off since I finished Super Metroid. These kind of lists are super fascinating to me, and really help me understand my tastes. I'd love for there to be a post which contains the top 10/whatever games from different genres. I've set myself a task this year of only buying one new game every 3 months (unless there's an obscene sale). Which means I'm actually destroying my back log right now, but I'd really like to try some more already released games that belong in the hall of game.

Who's tried this month's PS4 PS+ offering of Apotheon? I turned it on and instantly decided I liked it because the aesthetic is totally original (in terms of games at least) and right up my alley. Turns out it's pretty fun too. The combat is a little awkward, but surprisingly satisfying. When you kill someone the enemies do a Dark Souls ragdoll and fly around. Here's a picture!

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.
Griddlelol replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
I think judging something on genre and aesthetic is entirely valid. If Jon dislikes W101's aesthetic, there's nothing anyone can say that'll change that. It's an incredibly personal thing. I'm sure something like FIFA has fantastic mechanical depth, but I don't think it's possible for me to care less about football, and I pretty much dislike all sports games because the idea of a video game based on a sport seems ridiculous to me. Genres are super important, I don't play survival horror nor do I play adventure games because I dislike the genre. It took me a long time to realise that there's no point in buying the "new survival horror game" that everyone is raving about because I just dislike them in concept. I would have saved a lot of money if I'd skipped games I should have known I wouldn't have liked based on the genre. I found the hammer to be alright, but I couldn't do the wolverine claws. It looks too similar to the whip! Vanquish is one of the only Platinum games I've not played. Only ever heard fantastic things about it, shame I'll probably never get to play it. Even if it's released on PSNOW at some point, I wouldn't want to deal with the input lag.
