A Thread For Me To Rag On Merus' Imprecise Use Of Certain Words
N1njaSquirrel replied to Ben X's topic in Idle Banter
Yeah man you're pretty boring... I gave up after 3 threads. -
So I've managed to spill around 1.5 liters of windsreen wiper fluid in the back of my car. Over the weekend I met my parents at a service station (it was a planned thing, not completely random), and my dad bought me a 2 litre bottle of anitfreeze wiper fluid to put in my car, which I did. I put the bottle in the back of my car, and on the drive back home, it fell over and the lid cracked open. I only found out yesterday when I got into my car in the morning and the smell hit me. The stuff has been slowly leaking into my car for at least 2 days. I can't quite describe the smell, but it's definitely not good to breathe in. like you know that slight ethanol-chemical smell you get when you use the wipers? It's like that but 10x as strong, and there's a definite burn in my lungs when I breath it in. When I got to work I definitely felt light-headed. I have no idea how to get rid of this smell, and it's going to get worse on my 3 hour drive back down south on the 24th XD

A Thread For Me To Rag On Merus' Imprecise Use Of Certain Words
N1njaSquirrel replied to Ben X's topic in Idle Banter
I'm not suprised that Ben would be the person to start a thread with a title like this. Now I'm going to spend an inordinately large amount of time to browse through Ben's history to find some illogical phrase and pull it out of context. -
I sent mine today! I planned to open mine as soon as i got it too! I'm sorry if my present takes too long! It's not that far abroad, but i'll be amazed if it arrives before xmas!

Fucking adorable. I know what my next avatar is going to be.

You should try Binding of Isaac Gor, sounds like you have the luck of the devil! I imagine you'd get brimstone in your first devil room and polybius in your first treasure room. I'd like to write a short journal on here about my ps4 aquiring attempts over the last 2 days: So like an idiot, I've been trying to get my hands on one of those super cool 20th anniversary PS4's. In England there's a pretty neat way whereby you can potenitally be in the runnings to buy it if you are the first 100 to fill out a form, which you have to get to by clicking on the correct character from here: http://ps20.software.eu.playstation.com/ which is hinted at at a certain time for each day, for example, today's is parappa the rapper. I actually think it's a really neat way of generating interest in the console, and whilst it may not be the best way to select the lucky few who can get their hands on this in the UK, it's certainly the funnest. On the first day it was crazy. The website with the characters just didn't load. It was released at 11am, and the hint was going to be posted on twitter at 4. For the first hour it just loaded headers and footers. At around 12 it loaded a progress bar, with a 'file not found' image on the loading bar. by about 2:30 it finally loaded. Holy fuck there are a lot of characters, and holy fuck I don't know half of them. Nethertheless, I waited till 4 for the all knowing tweet to arrive. 4 o'clock came, and nothing. 'Maybe this is the hint' I thought. 10 minuets later sony and GAME posted their clue. Also did I mention that you had to reload the fucking page? Because that's when shit hit the fan as the servers crawled under the pressure of the whole UK gaming community trying to refresh one page to find a sweet link. That was broken. They mis-typed the link in the html, and put in a . where it should have been a /. knowing the shortcomings of a shit internet, I ventured onto GAF where I found the link to the form page, and filled it in at about 5:27. I knew I had no chance of getting it, but the wait for an email that never came was crushing. The character on monday was Rinoa, from FF8, which I would have never got anyways. The second day started, and I had my gameplan. I was to load the GAF thread, load 2 versions of the website, one for looking at characters, whilst the other was for the inevetable refresh. The clue was going to drop at 5 today, so I planned to take a 45 minuet lunch so I can spend 15 mins at 5 to try and get this lucrative console. Screw the clue and the website, there was no way I was going to get it from that. I got into work, loaded the pages and hid them. The thread then started using comments that only members could see. shit. So I created a GAF account, at around 10. I then found out that I have to wait for an admin to verify me. double shit. Then the best and worst thing happened. At around 3, an admin closed the thread. triple shit. My gameplan has all gone to waste! I quickly scramble around the internet, and find myself on the Playstation forums. People are talking about setting up a chat room, like on the msn era. I log onto the chat room, put it in the background and continue work. I look at it again at 4:55 to find that I've been logged out of the chat room due to inactivity. quadruple shitting fuck balls. Paniking now, I reload the PS forums to find that someone had created an IRC. Sweet! at 5:02 I logged onto the IRC. At 5:03 the link had been posted on there. At 5:05 I had subimtted the form. It was all over. Nothing to do now but wait. Compared to the 30 minuets of agonising on Monday, this was quick. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to get it, as I saw posts on GAF and the PS thread that shows people on the correct site at 5:01. I have had butterflies in my stomach the whole day. I feel like a kid like nothing else. I've been excited, nervous, something that I haven't felt for ages. Even if I don't get this fucking console, I'll still look back on this week fondly, because if nothing else it's envoked a genuine emotion and fevour to get this damn console. And if I do, I'm going to fucking love this over-priced paint job till the end of time.

How have I not seen this. This is genius! Idk, the second season was kinda naff. It felt like it was trying too hard to be random, but without reaching the greats of the first season. And also quickly routing to being crass.

I love this series. It's fantastic. Also it's completely shot in England, in a real hotel that is still running today. You can go there and buy a 'prisoner experience'. I've always wanted to go. I would like to suggest that the list only includes series that have ended, and have no intention of continuing. Also nothing like 'Family guy up to season 4'. It has to be solid work throughout. With that in mind, I'd like to add My Name Is Earl, the Office (UK (best) Version), Tatami Galaxy, Spaced, and Adam and Joe.

It's a huuge ring of gifts. I did try to make it reciprocal but I figured it'd be easier to organise as well as more fun

Idle Thumbs 188: A Refined Baby
N1njaSquirrel replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
For what it's worth tegan, Shantae isn't on my goty list because it's not out in England yet. I'm looking forward to playing it when it is. Hopefully it's going to be as good as you claim. -
I'm also confused as to why IGN spain and Italy are writing their reviews in Italian/Spanish. Also Isn't that the Talos Principle? I played the test beta thing and it was pretty good.

If you are in the UK/Europe, you can claim a shiny Beldum between now and the 14/1.

I got half my present today, need to go out again to get the other half! Sadly not. All the giftees have been sorted out! If you guys'll let me sort it out next year too, I'll be sure to make it more visible or something! You know I'd always pushed that film aside because it has kinda been sullied by the fan-base and Tim Burton, but watching that clip reminds me how god damn that movie is fucking good. It is also great because it capitalises on two big holidays relatively close to each other, so there is like a 3 month + window where it's totally appropriate to broadcast that film. If it's general excellence isn't enough of an excuse. Just a quick reminder - for England, the advised last shipping day for international shipping to ensure that your present arrives in time for Christmas is this weekend. (13th).

So I don't know whether you saw this, but one of the programmers on skullgirls managed to make a patch that made ps3 sticks compatible with the ps4. It is in the skull lgirls ps4 edition, and was posted so that anyone can use it. I hope capcom use it in sfv.

Man I'm looking forward to finding out what's so good about Rune Factory. I've been playing my 3DS a lot this week, as I got Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth. Despite my earlier worries that it's going to be a crappy spinoff, (like a certain dancing game) it's really not. You start off by selecting whether you want to follow the P4 or P3 crew, and it just gets better from there. I really like how you don't play as 'original the character', but instead as one of the lead protagonists of P3/4. I chose P4 as I'm more knowledgeable of the P4 game. I think this is a really good decision, as there is no alienating barrier between the cast you love so much and the player. It really does feel like your back with old friends that you haven't seen in ages, going on a madcap adventure, which is a real testament to the writing and translation of the game. Also that the characters in the Persona games are just so fucking good. The whole concept of persona is great for this, the way you're exposed to their weaknesses and overcoming them in P4 meant that they really felt like real characters, and that you really care for them. There's also a lot of dialogue in this game that keeps me smiling throughout, which is kinda unexpected given the Etrian Odyssey gameplay. The original character that the game revolves around are also really well crafted, feeling like naturally they fit in the world of the persona games, and they are also charming. I look forward to seeing their story progression. I can't say much about them because I have only just completed the first labyrinth. The gameplay revolves around Etrian Odyssey, with a grid-based maze that you have to draw out and explore, with secrets galore and the horrifying and scary FOE's wandering about. It does feel like a simpler EO game in comparison to 4, but still has the satisfying hard as nails battles that gets you really thinking about your next move. The combat is great, combining elements of both Persona and EO. There is also a new (I think) mechanic in the fights, whereby if you perform a critical hit or exploit their weakness, your character becomes 'pumped', and provided they don't get hit by the end of the turn, their next move is free, requiring no SP/HP cost. This really adds a tactical element to the game, especially when resources are scarce. Should I cast Bufu on one character to get his weakness, and then cast Mubufu for free the next turn, hitting all the enemies in one go? Should I use heal on one of my front line party members who are low on health, or will my Agi attack kill the enemy (and not disrupt the 'pumped' chain). Agh! There's no right choice, as they're all good, but it does make me think about what I'm going to do in the future. Ugh this game is so deep, and really satisfying, and really great. I think I'm going to be playing this for a long while yet. My only gripes is that it looks like there's only going to be 4 Labyrinths, and with no over-world map, could lead to a short game (not that I'm really complaining, because it's taken me days to get to the boss of the 1st labyrinth, and it's clearly made with the intention that you complete it twice for both characters). Also you are given conversation choices which don't feel like they affect anything, meaning I just choose the dickish ones for laughs. Finally it really feels like this game was designed with persona players in mind, the game assumes that you have already played the two previous persona games, as there is next to no character introductions, and it's steeped with references. I don't think there'll be much for EO fans to enjoy out of this game, as the EO part feels simpler than what was in EO4. Also is it just me, but I'm still quite annoyed with Persona 4's translation, as Edit: Whoops! I forgot that all important ]! Sorry if I ruined anything!

I think BoI is one of those games where a kid would just would see past the horrible stuff that it doesn't understand and just focus on the core mechanic of the game. I look forward to when your niece revisits/rediscovers this game in like 20 years time and realises what a horrible game it is, and how it has affected her every life decision since that day she asked to play the baby dungeon game again.

I would say sooner rather than later. Personally I'll be sending mine off sometime next week, as I'm going shopping for my gift this weekend.
