I played on Prime last night, and it turned out I had my sensor bar configured wrong! (It was on top of the TV, and in the settings I set it so that it was under the TV). Correcting that made it a lot easier. The other problem I have I think is unsolvable. I'm left handed, which means that the wiimote is in my left hand. Samus' arm cannon is in her right hand, meaning that I'm aiming with my left hand, which is samus' right hand, which messes with my brain more than it really should. It kinda feels like driving with the steering wheel on the left, or sitting in the passenger seat after months of driving. If that makes sense.
  2. I Had A Random Thought...

Both me and my girlfriend watched the Goonies for the first time about 2 years ago, and I'm 25, and we both didn't like it, so the theory holds water so far. I could see why kids would like it though. In the same vein, we also watched Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, which we hadn't watched before either, and it was fucking awful. The Goonies was better.

I'm still struggling with Prime's motion controls. I did do all the suggestions you said to make the gameplay better, and it did make it better, but it's still awkward as heck. I think another hour or two and maybe the controls will feel less awkward. This is making me want to play it now...
  4. Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

Having not seen the originam music video, I was just really creeped out XD It's a lot funnier now i've watched the original video XD I've been enjoying a particular meme "Unexpected Thug Life". This is a particular highlight:

Can a person activate 2 codes for the same prize? because failing that, I could just get 2 and trade you one.

Yeah, the story was simpler, but I felt that it meant that I was less inclined to re-watch the cutscenes. The first game was a fucking head-case and took a good few play throughs to understand, which I felt complemented the want to play the game through on every difficulty. By infinite climax I knew exactly why shit was going down, which made me like the story more. Also the little kid's voice acting was awful in B2, I felt that the VA's in general were better in B1. Completing 3rd Climax unlocks a very cool weapon, and in B1 infinite climax unlocked the light sabre, so I feel inclinde to say that yes, it is worth going for, just becuase you're likely to unlock something sweet. But it is hard. That could also be because I have just picked it up again after a good 4 months of not playing it.

I shall do my best! You'll have to wait till saturday, if that's ok?
  8. Nintendo 3DS

Ah sweet! I'll check it out when I get home! Thanks!
  9. Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

I can get you a code if you want, Teg
  10. Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

For those of you in the UK, GAME are distributing codes for Darkrai starting this Friday. I have no idea how common this legendary is, but I could potentially nab a second code for someone if they want it bad.

Are they not eligible in this deal too? I thought they were :/

This is because infinite climax now does activate witch time when you dodge, unlike in B1, so the need to add witch time into the parry was redundant. Instead you have a smaller time frame to activate witch time. Doing this also meant that you relied less on the parry on higher difficulties, which I think is slightly better, as it's not messing around with the original formula that you're used to in the earlier difficulties, as well as making it more difficult, because my memories of the higher difficulties in the first game involved spamming the analogue stick in the direction of the enemies and then wailing on them in witch time. Now there's a larger risk/reward involved. I actually felt the story was worse than the original. It felt like it was trying to do the same thing, but without quite reaching the bombastic highs of the original. Plus there were ongoing memes that I felt did not reach the greatness of the original. Specifically the killing blow on the final boss, felt less epic (ugh I hate that word) than in the first game. could you not combo the bow with whips on the feet? Holding down the attack button on a hit either pulls the enemy towards you or you towards the enemy, bringing you in range, I think. Good luck on 3rd Climax!

For what it's worth, Nintendo are getting rid of club Nintendo presumably because of these online policies, so I would be expecting this to change come the end of the year. I personally buy everything digitally.

lol, Sorry Twig! After a closer look at the figurine, whilst it is nice, it does feel a tad cheap. There are slight defects for me on the back of the hat and the back of his foot, where the mould was poorley formed. Also the paint job done on the brown string on the foot is uneven. It's also quite light for a statue, compared to my other vinyl figurines of the same height. The Skull Mask is very well done though, which is where you'd expect the most detail to be, but even then there are some slightly botched jobs on the mask's whiskers. All in all, it's a good figurine for something I got free, but it's by no means the best. It doesn't meet the greatness of the first 4 figures figurine:

On the other hand, I got My Majora's Mask New 3DS and it looks fucking sick. Skull Kid figurine is super nice too

So warning to everyone who's about to get a New 3DS: The MicroSD cards ONLY accept Micro SD HC cards, and NOT MicroSD XC cards. This means that Your maximum storage is only going to be 32GB, which I guess is fine, but also a fucking ball ache as ol' knob-end me got a fucking 64GB XC Card and now i can't fucking use the damn thing on the damn console. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
  17. Movie/TV recommendations

I just came back from a screening of Inherant Vice. It was OK. To get the good stuff out of the way: It looked like it was trying to re-create the 70's vibe, and it did it very well, I think. I say I think because I wasn't actually there in the 70's, or live in america, but it felt like authentic. I particularly liked the screen effects to make it look like it was shot on a reel. Also the music was good. Good choice Mr. music man, although no Greatful Dead? In a movie about hippies in the 70's? The fuck. Now onto what I didn't like. For a start, everyone mumbled. It might have been because I've been watching a lot of anime, so have just gotten used to subtitles, or that I was tired so wasn't concentrating, but I missed out like 30% of the dialouge due to people mumbling, which wouldn't be so bad, apart from it's such a dialouge heavy film, the 30% of the dialouge that was mumbled meant I then didn't understand about 60% of the dialouge, because the mumbled stuff seemed to somehow be important to the rest of the conversation. Part of me thought that maybe this was the point, that it wasn't about the dialouge but about what's going on in the shot. Certainly all the comical gags were all visual, bar the pancakes bit. But no, I don't think so. I just think some of the performances were bad, because I could understand some people perfectly. Then the plot. Maybe not being able to hear all the lines meant that the plot was less obvious, but it seemed to meander about with little care or attention. Plot lines start seemingly randomly, and are forgotten about without any real closure. they seem to tie into other plot lines, but in such a way that it seems more accidental than anything. When things are resolved, they are resolved so quickly at the end, but not at a pace, or connected, just a bunch of scenes they tacked on the end to make sure that there's some closure to the larger plot points. The film had no peaks, it had no climax, it just had a flatline of emotionless 'events'. The end of the movie also made little sense the more I think about it: My friend said that 'that was the point, that it meandered' when I mentioned my thoughts after the film, which is a. ) a fucking rubbish argument, and b. ) if that was their intention, then don't take nearly 2 hours to prove that point Seriously, 2 hours is a long time to devote to a movie, and when that movie doesn't engage you, it just made me space out, which is ironic given that the film is all about drugs. (I think that's the right use of the word, I'm sure Ben will pick me up on it.) The ending scene in particular, was nothing. I can't even remember what the last line of the film is, or what it was about, or even where they fucking were. The film could have easily been a good 30 mins shorter, and would have probably been better for it. I could go on about the finer points of the plot that made little sense or were forgotten about just as quickly as they were raised, but I'll sustain from that because it'll probably bore everyone. Maybe I should have read the book or at least watched the trailer before going in. It took me half the fucking film to realise what his job actually was.

Yeah, it's better with others, but you wouldn't want to start off on MP. Or at least, that's what I gathered from playing MH3. It might be different in MH4, but in MH3 it was definitely a thing to do after the solo campaign had ended. The MP is harder, as the enemies scale on the number of people in your party, so having a low-geared person on your team makes the game substantially harder. And if they haven't got a clue what to do it's even worse, if not impossible, as 3 deaths in the party means game over. But then again if I remember correctly the MP has ranks, and early ranking was easy. Given that MH4 has online play now, I can imagine that the MP is a larger part of the game than it was before. (MH3U had online play, but only one the WiiU)

First things first, try the demo on the eShop. MonHun's control system is perfect, but bizarre. When it clicks though, you'll come to appreciate it's beauty. Also it shows the core of MonHun. If you don't like hunting monsters, you're not going to like this game. As for RPG-ey, from my experience of MH3U, it's very late game, I completed the story before I had to get too deep into stats and buffs and stuff. You don't level up in MH, you level up your armour and weapons. You level these things up by gathering materials and then crafting items. For the most part of the game, the items needed are pretty easy drops, and you can upgrade your items at a reasonable rate. You might need to scavenge for that one bug that you're missing, but that's something you could do whilst attempting another mission, so it's more a detour than anything. However late game (we're talking like 100+ hours here) you need an item that has a 3% chance of dropping, and then it's a case of grinding, which is still great because fighting monsters is always exciting and interesting, as long as you enjoy it. And then there are attunements to the armour, which grant passive bonuses like increased fire resistance and not flinching when a monster roars, which become crucial late game too, and fairly involved as you swap out whole armour sets to be better suited for the fight ahead. Preparation is just as important in MonHun than fighting at any skill level, and the gratification pay-off when you're properly suited and booted is great. I hope that helps. In short, it has RPG elements that can be largely ignored until super late game, and when they do come up, they're relatively simple to understand. The only downside that I can remember is that menu-flipping can be a tad cumbersome and confusing at first when looking at specific armour buffs. But for beginners, much like Dark Souls, find a weapon that you like, as get a good weapon that you can use efficiently and accurately, and everything will follow.
  20. Eurogamer is dropping review scores, which is only a good thing I think. People who are funnier and more talented than me have already mocked it on twitter:

Ooohhhhh, you meant WHAS! HWAS isn't a thing. Unless you like fishing. I agree that most of the major plot points were totally predictable, and Hiro can do nothing, apart from stand about. And they can't say Hiro's name right (A particular irritant for my missus), but I did find it funny, and really enjoyable. I haven't seen Iron Giant in ages though, so I can't comment on that As for the post credits scene:

HWAS? do you mean the Hartley Wintney Angling Society? typing in 'HWAS film' into google turned up some bollywood film with a scantily clad lady. That's some weird google searches I hope I don't have to explain away at work! WHAT IS HWAS? Also I watched Big Hero 6! It was really good! Made me cry like twice. Also really funny. The sceptic in me just knows this is probably going to be a really big franchise, spanning comics and TV series and everything. If you haven't seen it yet (it only came out a fortnight ago in England), stay to the very end of the credits, there's a bonus scene which is just excellent.
