  1. Loving it so far! I do have some random thoughts, particularly on what was slightly brought up in previous posts, but really stands out to me. This is the difference between the, for lack of a better term, 'Classic' Twin Peaks vs Modern Twin Peaks characters in settings. This is a little disorganized so I'm going to bullet point it. The interactions in the Sheriff's office. Above the obvious new tech vs old files stuff, I feel the characters all had a distinct difference. The new deputies (like the beardy guy) seemed to be very disinterested, bland and even sarcastic in regards to Margaret's warnings in specific and the case in general. This contrasts to all of the classic characters who took it seriously and emotionally; very well expressed by Bobby who, even if it was a little over the top, still cared deeply about Laura and likely the town in general. This is a minor nitpick, but during the DoppelCoop interrogation, Tammy was using a laptop while Gordon and Albert were without. I understand why Gordon was without, but when thinking along these lines it seems to signify a difference in modern vs past ways of operating In general, the scenes in Twin Peaks have felt more emotional than the ones outside of it. Even the initial New York box scene where the couple end up making out felt kind of emotionless. This persisted to Las Vegas in my opinion where no one really stopped to help Coop despite him clearly not being sound of mind. The place where this starts to blur is in South Dakota where it felt like there was emotion but felt like it was still lacking something. I feel like this area is where the normal and supernatural are going to mix the most and the supernatural will go back to Twin Peaks while the normal will go elsewhere. I don't know. I'm likely over analyzing this stuff or missing something but it's fun to speculate.

    Congrats on the first goal!
  5. Just finished the episode and I was thoroughly entertained! Random things: Fun fact: The original Pink Panther wasn't a character. The cartoon was the intro the the first 1963 movie starting Peter Sellers as Jacques Clouseau but was just a representation of the diamond that was to be stolen as the main plot of the film. I know I had only ever thought of the Pink Panther as that character from the cartoons that spawned from the series of films, so it was fun to see the original and how different it was. Also: I like the endorsements! I am on track to go three for three from today's episode as I already own a fish turner, definitely went back and listened to that clip while gazing into the eyes of Goldblum and will be picking up one of those farberware pans as soon as my first check rolls in (Though sadly won't use the fish turner with it because it's nonstick and needs a plastic spatula). Cheers, and looking forward to next weeks episode!
  6. Casablanca (1942)

Went a saw it on Monday (Multiple days of showings) and it was excellent! Probably in part because knowing me I was a bit tipsy when I first saw it but mostly because I've had 5 or so more years of life to draw from. Theater was sadly barren, but hopefully the later showings drew more of a crowd. Random thoughts below, will contain spoilers: It's very easy for me to see, reflecting on the movie, how it became such a beloved film, above and beyond the quotables and setting. The movie has two main plot lines that are very relatable: Rick's encounter with a lover for whom he still carries a torch and Captain Renault's dealings with a less than favorable new boss. Of course there's a lot more going on than that, but those are the two big takeaways from my viewing. In Rick's case, he also meets Laszlo who reminds Rick of the type of life he lived before, and likely why Ilsa was attracted to him. In the end he finally gets over the breakup and reattains a bit of what he lost to cynicism to boot. Meanwhile Renault's story was basically the first telling of Office Space: working just hard enough to not get fired. Then Rick shoots Strasser and he's free to hang out with his friend (This is way over simplified but w/e I'm not trying to write a novel). And it's hard pressed to find someone that hasn't experienced either or both of those things in their own life in some way. Anyway, just randomly reflecting on the film.
  7. Casablanca (1942)

I'm going to continue this trainwreck. I await my ban with head held high.
  8. Casablanca (1942)

I really like Casablanca, it is a good movie. It looks like there's a theater near me playing it too, which is sweet! So I guess I'm going to be the guy going to Casablanca on valentines day. alone. for a matinee...

  10. Twin Peaks Discussion

Glad to hear it about the podcast! I've yet to listen to Twin Peaks Rewatch as I've only seen the series once (and shamefully recently) but I'm excited to go through it. Currently planning to lead up to the new season with 1 episode/day + TPRw and Fire Walk With Me day of the premiere. Also I guess you can still order David Lynch Signature Brand Coffee https://www.javadistribution.com/allegro-coffee//david-lynch-signature-cup-organic-coffee/

  12. I'm poo at photoshop, but get well soon, Nick!
  13. When Nick starts playing, usually. (Seriously though, it's kinda random based on when he has time to play?) Catching up on the latest stream now, but damn that cleric beast fight was intense! These have been good. Good quality entertainment. Even when you die to crows (Fucking crows. I hate those things). On another note: is the Idle Thumbs twitch still going to be the de facto Nick Breckon Streaming Shenanigans™ for the foreseeable future?
  14. I don't post here much and act more like Sasquatch, lurking in the blurry part of your camera's lens, listening to podcasts in the comfort of my cave. But I made a thing. It's available On itchio at this link. Inspired by cyberpunk in general and using one of Terminal 7's titles. Thanks for taking a look! I look forward to playing everyone's game; the cover arts already have me awestruck! The story: It is the near future; The year 1999. The world has begin recovering from The Third World War. It was a war fought between nations and corporations. Now the victorious Mega Corportaion Zardyne Industries has disbanded the world's governments and enforce their own laws with impunity. But now a resistence is growing and a new war is being fought, a war of information. The battlefield is the cyberscape known as The World Wide Web. You are one of the hackers working for The Resistance and ending the Zardyne's Business is your Priority. Do you have what it takes to break into Zardyne's private servers and steal thier plans without getting caught? And thanks to the organizers of the Jam! This marks my first and it was a lot of fun! I'm already looking forward to the next Wizard Jam.
  15. [RELEASE] Priority Businessing

That last bit is actually intentional. It takes an extra chip/processing space to hold the files, so you have to go back and remove one of the keys (or remove the one from the first gate). Thank you for the input though, it's really helped me in figuring out how to do things better for next time! But I'm sure as you know in game development, timeLeft = timeToGetEverythingPerfect - 10%.
  16. [RELEASE] Priority Businessing

And just like that it's updated. Hooray for Day 1(ish) patches! Patch notes: Fixed issue with opening lock in level one. Hopefully clarified skully tutorial section. Turns out it's hard to be descriptive without text. P.s. Don't tell anyone but you can skip the tutorial level by pressing F12 now.
  17. [RELEASE] Priority Businessing

Hmm.. Then the tutorials could have been much better. If you click and hold on the skull icon it will grab the new skull and let you aim it. The same goes for keys, you can click on the object in the world and drag it around. I should probably update that lock so you just have to get anywhere around that area.
  18. [RELEASE] Priority Businessing

Hey Ben, So, yeah. Level 1 is probably the most difficult part because it isn't well executed, but I had a dumb idea I wanted to try. Basically, if you cut left or right (it's mirrored) and go to the end of the hall, you find some stairs. It's a physics puzzle that you have to drop the key over the wall onto the lock. There's a big funnel to kind of help that along, but it's still not 100%. Then, on the way back there's a window to shoot through at the blocker. Also, thank you! That is the exact theme I was going for and I'm glad the tutorials were clear, even if the puzzles weren't. Hope this helps and thanks for the feedback!
  19. Mouth Feel - The Summer Wizard Cocktail Jam

Based on the cocktail I attempt to make at every party I've ever thrown. Rye can be substituted with Bourbon, Scotch, Irish Whiskey or just about any other alcohol.

I've really been enjoying him! I'm not one for traditional runner types but I've been doing a fairly standard spread on him and it's very interesting. The way it usually rolls is that I end up doing some run stuff and draws until I get independent thinking, then I explode in card draw and build a rig and start traditional runs. I hit R&D with Indexing and use interfaces for efficiency in runs and it's met with mixed success. I do really like the directives, even if I end up trashing them during the game. They give a weird advantage early game that could sometimes be a detriment (hand size and I've played more than one game where I had to trash something when I wanted the credits) and then really speed up my card draw to get everything I need in hand, with public sympathies to keep it all. Recently I've got an idea to build my current deck and try something goofy (I am not and will never claim to be 'good' at Netrunner, I just do things that are fun/interesting and if I win, all the better!) and use the apparent go-to of Faust in this concept. Currently it's untested and unmodified as I haven't had much time recently, but the idea is below: Adam: Compulsive Hacker Event (15) 3x Dirty Laundry 2x Game Day ••••• • 3x Independent Thinking 2x Levy AR Lab Access ••••• • 2x Quality Time •• 3x Sure Gamble Hardware (9) 2x Brain Cage 2x Brain Chip 2x e3 Feedback Implants •••• 3x Plascrete Carapace Resource (17) 3x Daily Casts 3x Dr. Lovegood 3x Earthrise Hotel 1x Kati Jones 2x Paparazzi 3x Public Sympathy 2x Same Old Thing Icebreaker (4) 3x Faust ••••• • 1x Mimic • 25 influence spent (max 25) 45 cards (min 45) Cards up to Data and Destiny
  21. Terminal7 47: Clone-Ridden Fields

Was super fun to hear about you and Jesse's experiences with new ID's! I'm surprised you haven't explored Chatterjee in the Professor deck though. I feel like he might be the only ID that can effectively use Chatterjee as he's the one that's likely to install a bunch of programs. It still feels like a mediocre card though, since you need to put 5 clicks into it to make it be more effective than a Katie (albeit in a shorter period of time with Kati's 1/turn limit). I recently came across a fun story interaction myself; I've been playing Adam and thought about putting a Sacraficial Clone in. It got me thinking "What would the corp think if they found this clone? 'Guys. This isn't even a bioroid. How the hell did we screw this up!? I mean, it just taped a stick of ram to this clone and wrote 'totally a bioroid' on his head in sharpie..." A lot of fun combos to find in this game.
  22. Games for new gamers?

Hey everyone, So Steve, on his first few episodes at least, posed a vey good question to the devs he was interviewing for Tone Control; what game would you start someone who hasn't played games before on? I've found myself in this situation recently and have come up mostly blank. My friend knows about games a bit, watched someone play Portal and enjoyed that, and currently I've started her on Broken Age, which she's loving. So my question to you all is: what are your ideas for games to introduce people to gaming with? I was thinking of Gone Home next, as the slower paced story driven games are appealing to my friend, but I think this question is greatin a broad sense too. Cheers, Slade P.s. apologies if this has come up before, I did scour the forum a bit but didnt find anything.
  23. Games for new gamers?

TychoCelchuu and Merus, you two both bring up great and valid points, it's absolutely tailored to the individual as to what kind of games someone is going to like. However, I think Merus was closer to the point that I was trying to get at but failed to explain thoroughly. I'm not looking for a 'gateway' game, but I was more referring to the low barrier of assumed knowledge. There definitely is, for lack of a better term, a hierarchy of games in regards to what they expect a player to know coming into it, and this is much harder to teach when jumping into something like Dark Souls as opposed to Gone Home. Even in adventure games there's a weirdness that can require you to click randomly on any and everything if you're stuck in a puzzle and don't know what item is needed to finish it, and as I've come to realize not everyone is going to know that going in and miss something that isn't called out plainly. This is what I was getting at in terms of suggestions because over the years, to my own detriment I feel, I seem to have become disassociated with what it's like to come into gaming without a large history of playing. I do like the idea of co-op games though, Reyturner, I think that's a good direction to be able to guide someone through and be more involved. My friend did ask occasionally if I was bored just watching and helping out so this is a great suggestion.
  24. New people: Read this, say hi.

Hi Tl;dr hello. Just getting active on the forums here, but I joined after listening to Terminal 7, which also happens to be the time I started listening to Idlethumbs. Been forum shy for a while but listening to the late january episode where the thumbs were boasting everyone being super chill here I figured Id finally get active. Im gunna keep this brief for now because im on a tablet, but looking forward to participating in good discussions soon!
