Giant bomb's live coverage is great as ever. Too bad their chat is fucked up.

LOL, that was by Marc Maron? Dude is infamous for being one of the most bitter, petty, self-absorbed stand-ups in the business and he's lecturing people on emotional immaturity and needing constant recognition? Okay. (I don't actually dislike Marc, I used to listen to his podcast semi-frequently, just found this a little rich.)

This right here.

I think that was more or less everyone's reaction to those scenes. I watched it with my primary movie watching buddy and his dad, and we frequently alternated between being enthralled by the movie and laughing out loud/cringing at how ludicrous the sex scenes were. I feel more conflicted about it in retrospect hearing about the awful treatment the two lead actors got at the hands of the film's director, and the hissy fit he threw when they started talking to the press about it, but... it's hard to argue with the results.

Through my childhood I conceived of a complicated movement-based game where I had to traverse the floor of our house in a certain way based on an entirely imagined grid. I still remember exactly how the grid is laid out across our living room. So yeah, it's probably hard wired to some extent. :v

Watched the Babadook and the Honeymoon since I got sick of hearing about them. Babadook was alright, didn't hit me the way I thought it would after all the hype, the mother was really well acted though. Honeymoon was fucking spot on. Had the cogs turning in my head the whole time. Smartest thriller I've seen in ages.

It's almost like Maddy was talking about this person, specifically, when she wrote this - http://metroidpolitan.com/blog/2015/3/3/the-cool-gamer-girlfriend-aka-unicorns-arent-real

The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Jakub Zytecki of Disperse just released his own solo album and it's kind of amazing. Really fantastic experimental prog. -
If you liked it, watch Boy. Same director, great movie.

I like Watamote a lot, but it genuinely depresses me at times. It feels like someone took their social anxiety, and how it made them feel alone and inadequate amongst their exceedingly normal peers, and actually treated that as canon. Tomoko's very world is narrated by the voice in your head that tells you you're worthless when you commit a minor social faux pas. The thing that gets to me the most about it isn't the absurd situations she gets into (I think these do qualify as bleak humour), it's that nobody around her seems to notice or care, save for that one helpful girl later on. That, to me, stings more than the scenes where she actually gets a reaction. I had a conversation with someone who didn't understand how I could find the show depressing. Specifically, the scene where Tomoko begs her brother to come and watch her light a sparkler so that she doesn't have to end her summer alone was soul crushing to me, whereas they found it charming and hopeful. This wasn't a person who sniffs at social anxiety, so I just had to conclude that it was a difference of personality that lead to those different takes on it.

In addition to an older cat who's probably on the way out (her sister went last year), we have a litter of five cats that we rescued, coming up on 3 years old (I think). Don't have too many up-to-date pictures but here's a couple of our ginger boys since you all seem to like em so much. And just as a bonus, here's my favourite picture of my favourite cat (or at least, the one that likes me best) from soon after we'd rescued them.

I lived directly below a Chinese karaoke bar for a few months. You know that scene in Rush Hour (I forget which one) where Chris Tucker freaks out because the guy is completely slaughtering Michael Jackson? Every. Night.

Are you suggesting that this is the logical end point of VR?

As someone who generally finds the whole yandere thing kind of weird and dumb, that actually seems like it could be really fucking cool, at least conceptually.

I've survived most of my 20s on a learner's license, only just rectifying that now out of necessity as I'm living outside of town for the first time in forever. I much prefer being able to just walk to where I need to be, and rely on public transport or, in a pinch, chuck a friend some gas money to get me places. But realistically a license is pretty gosh darn useful, if not necessary in this country, so I probably should've sorted it out a while ago.

I think he clarified that he was mostly railing against theblockbot, which is a blocklist maintained by atheism+ people (they exist, I guess?). I didn't look into it a whole lot, just read his rebuttal to Damion Shubert and the rebuttal to the rebuttal here - http://www.zenofdesign.com/fallout-of-the-block-bot-post/ Edit - Wait since when does TB use language like "muh soggy knees." Did he just legit turn into a channer?

Man, I got myself into a really stupid situation. I've been talking with someone almost every day for months now, and we got close. Too close. The main complication being that they live in another goddamn country and we both agreed that we weren't looking for anything long distance (been there, not a fan), but we were both in a really shitty place and we needed something to tide us over. We knew that it'd never go anywhere, but I guess somewhere along the way my dumb mammal brain forgot about that... and then they found someone. And it hurt, a lot, but I don't have anyone to blame except my own dumb ass for getting too close. It doesn't help matters that I was just getting back to studying after a much needed reprieve and my anxiety is already going nuts again. Fucking hell, I don't even know where to begin. /whinge

Official Giant Bomb Thread Mostly for Complaining About Dan
BadHat replied to tegan's topic in Idle Banter
Sorry, I figured it'd be pretty self-evident that the "collusion" thing was a joke, considering that word is basically meaningless now. I need to catch up on MGS. It's my go-to right now if I need a pick me up or a distraction. Drew trying to wrap his head around the plot and all the dumb/batshit moments is just the best.- 1367 replies

Hold on, I'll get Ice T in here to school you on some Gamer Acronyms.

On a more positive note, I've been meaning to see it for ages but the Raid 2 did not disappoint. Hammers Lady and Baseball Bat Boy (no relation) might have been a smidge too goofy, in an anime kind of way, but the rest of it was goofy in exactly the right way. A+

Discover exotic animals and wear them as hats - MH4U Multiplayer Networking
BadHat replied to Sno's topic in Multiplayer Networking
I'm down for some hunts during the day (American afternoon-evening?) most days. I'm still on HR1 though, since I've mostly been focussing on caravan quests. My friend code is 3453-9810-3448. While browsing around for information I found this subreddit where people organise hunts together. They have a teamspeak server which is open to all, I don't suppose it'd be too cheeky to pop in there and make a passworded room if a few of us are playing? The details are on the sidebar, I won't repost them here just in case. In any case I'll be plinking away at low level stuff for the next few hours if anyone wants to lend a hand. The room code is 14-8907-3028-9428. Edit: Closed it down. Let's organise something once we get a few more people interested. -
Went back and added some people's codes. If enough people are interested in trying to organise something, it could be worth making a thread in the multiplayer forums? Even moreso if we could somehow wrangle a teamspeak server.

I'm enjoying charge blade exactly because of it's complex moveset. I feel like it'll take me another 20 hours of hunting just to get to a point where I'm somewhat used to which attacks flow into what and being able to switch from sword to axe and back fluidly, and that's kind of exciting. My most used weapon in Tri was the trusty hammer, but going back to that now it feels really basic. Maybe I've forgotten how to use it effectively but 80% of my use is just prepping the charge attack after the monster makes a move, then releasing it as they turn to face me so I can land it on their stupid head. Even then, I can KO monsters way more consistently with the charge blade thanks to the special attack's massive KO damage, so... what is even the point of the hammer any more, really. Except for breaking stuff I guess? Gonna jam my friend code here if anyone wants to hit me up for some casual hunts. Do you still have to add the other person back before they'll show up? If so, post your code here or PM if you add me I guess.
