Oh man, that guard break change sounds great - but also means it'll be easier for everyone so i prepare to be spammed with it.

This game can definitely be frustrating - some of the timing quirks just have to be worked out through practice. It doesn't help that the tutorials aren't amazing, but there s that 1v1 duel mode practice mode.

There are now people who believe Sweden is covering up "incidents".

Every time I see this thread I get mad all over again at those trump dick wads from that idle weekend thread. It ain't healthy. D:<

Don't forget the people who think Obama is running a shadow government blocks away from the whitehouse and has an army of agitators at his disposal.

I was struggling, then I got into it again when I figured out I'd been doing the wrong thing to parry. I quit early Saturday though, because there isn't that much to see. If I end up owning it I'd rather get on that grind in a release of the game that's permanent.

I really need to figure out parrying/guard break - I still feel like I can never consistently do that in a real fight.

If anyone else is interested there's an open beta from Thursday through to Sunday. You can preload it on Uplay now. Unfortunately I will be away most of the weekend, but I thoroughly recommend trying the game!

I played the last few hours of that beta with a buddy, man this game is really satisfying. It's nice when you feel yourself go from flailing about button mashing, to learning a few combos and figuring out that characters "style" and how to use them semi-effectively.

I don't disagree with any of the points made, I was just more openly wondering what made the community react like that towards her opposed to the other women who have been well receieved by the community (even in situations where they have been loud and drunk).

Obviously the internet at large has an issue with the way it reacts to women in general, I just wonder about the pyschology behind stuff like this.

    I'll give you a hint: it's because she's a woman.

I don't know if that's exactly fair, but then again I'm not super clued in on the community. It seems like other women are pretty well receievd (Mary Kish, Zoey Quinn, Samanath Kalman , Gita Jackson, etc).

I thought she was a little grating on her first appearance (ala Greg Miller) but generally enjoyed her - sucks to see the community run off someone with an interesting point of view!

I've felt that way about every new job I started. You'll be ok. It will just take a couple of weeks to get used to it.

Good advice! A month in and I'm feeling more sure of myself - still have a lot to learn, but i'm feeling better and haven't screwed anything up in a major way yet hah.

If you're looking for a particularly specific and esoteric podcast, a friend and I are responsible for Never Repeats - a chronological review of every New Zealand fiction feature film. We started with everything made in 1977 (when yearly film production took off) and have been moving forward year-by-year. We're currently up to 1983.

The structure typically involves us covering one film per episode, doing an in-depth critique of the film itself, talking about the production history, the backgrounds of the primary cast & crew, and discussing where it fits in the overall history of NZ film, as well as how you can see it today.

And we do mean every film, even those that were never released on home video. You can dip in and out to hear us dissect the more famous movies - those that received big international releases like Goodbye Pork Pie, Sleeping Dogs, and Smash Palace - or listen to each episode to discover the history behind films so obscure even many New Zealanders haven't heard of them, such as Skin Deep and Squeeze.

So if you've got an interest in film history, or just like hearing people talk in detail about obscure movies, give us a listen! We're on iTunes, and there are links to RSS feeds and such on our website, as well as a list of all the films we've covered so far. At the moment we're in the middle of a three-part discussion of the infamously expensive TV mini-series The Governor, as a prelude to our discussion of Geoff Murphy's Utu coming up next month.

    Planning on watching Scarfies?!
