  1. I can say I'm pretty bummed when I sat down at my caucus that 9 of Washington's 17 superdelegates had already pledged to Hillary. At least pretend to wait until you hear the popular vote before you make your decision.

For reference, here are the sate-wide totals:

    Statewide Totals from http://www.wa-democrats.org/caucus-results

    Hillary: 7138

    Bernie: 19135

    Undecided 43

    Other: 0

    Total: 26316

Related article from a local (generally well liked) opinion site: http://www.thestranger.com/slog/2016/03/29/23877594/washington-superdelegates-still-endorsing-clinton-spurning-pro-bernie-majority-of-state-voters

I know I am probably speaking to the choir but I find the whole super delegate thing complete non-sense, all it does it solidify establishment candidates.

There's also the argument for maintaining a strong liberal voice all the way up to the convention. I don't see any way Hilary doesn't end up moving more to the center to grab up repubs and moderates fleeing Trump the moment she no longer needs to compete amoung the definitely-not-voting-republican crowd, and if that happens before the general then the earlier that starts. I haven't had the privilege of seeing a major party candidate who even slightly spoke to my views, I want them up there yelling for as long as humanly possible.

Totally agree, even if Bernie has slim chances (at best) of actually winning it, I am glad he forces Clinton to be left of center and to keep the conversation in that direction. I also think the longer he stays in it, the better he will poll. I think a lot of people automatically discount him as having no chance to win so default to Clinton when asked.

  2. So think of BS2 more of a BS1 chapter 2. It picks up directly where the last one left off.

My save game was lost to a hardware failure so I had to start a new game, I am under NDA so I can't go into too much detail but you make a single choice when starting a new game from BS2, I was kind of hoping for a Mass Effect style "pick your major choices" thing. I might actually go back and rush through the original again just to have a save game to import.

  3. Lately (in terms of how far I've listened) it's turned into a lot of him just describing stuff and even having scenes with multiple NPCs expositing at each other while the players just sit there*. I think it works best when everyone gets to do stuff, and the story emerges from their actions.

This arc feels like a Final Fantasy game.

*It's pretty ridiculous how good he is at carrying out these conversations with himself, but it sucks the energy out of the game. It's like the opposite of action.

Yeah, I think a more narrative driven show is what they were aiming for though, I wish they paid attention to the story of their own game though hah.

  4. Man, I made a killer shepherds/cottage pie last night, my wife gave me the 'Kiwi Seal of Approval'

I made the mash with Golden Yukon potatoes (skin on) with 7 or 8 cloves in the water while they were boiling as well, I mashed them with a bit of butter and heavy cream.

I threw a minced onion into my cast iron frying pan with a tiny bit of butter for color, once they browned a bit I dumped in some peas and carrots and gave them a little color.

I browned the beef in the cats iron pan as well, once browned I threw in some flour, some cornstarch, a bit of red wine, some beef stock, tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce in with it to make a gravy.

I combined the beef and vegetable in a casserole dish and topped with potato and baked for 20 minutes or so.

I wish I had drained the brown beef a little bit better as my beef did come out a little greasy, I also wish I had added chicken stock instead of beef stock because the beef gravy could have used a "brighter flavor" or some acid maybe? I donno.

  5. Speaking of vegetarian proteins, not enough people know that you can freeze (then thaw) tofu to give it a more meatlike consistency. Just drain a block of firm tofu, slice it (or don't, but it'll take longer to freeze), bag it, and throw it in the freezer. Let it thaw, marinate, and cook it however you like.

I just picked up some tofu, thanks for that!

I am trying my hand at spherification this weekend, I think I am going to do strawberry and Mango "ravioli". I am trying to do something "out-there" for a dinner I am throwing next week, it would make a neat dessert like experience.

  6. This is my biggest issue with Sanders.  Hard to get explicit answer out of that guy.  Granted I love his stump speech but it is a stump speech.  That and I seriously think he might die of old age any day.

Every time I look at Hilary she comes off as power monger and I don't mean that as to disqualify her as a leader... many historically great leaders were clearly power mongers nor is it mutually exclusive to other traits.

Yeah, he has like 1 speech and gives it everytime he is speaking anywhere.

  7. In ireland, shepherds pie is made with beef mince for whatever reason!

Also, for those who want to geek out and not eat meat, there is a recipe for vegetarian shepherds pie in Scott Pilgrim (Vol II i think).

Weird, I think that is normally known as a cottage pie (my kiwi wife really likes to lecture me on that point). ! I am actually going to participate in this cooking club exercise

  8.  The low skill space is shrinking and there is little to no interest in government with dealing with it.

It's even happening in the high skilled space because on paper it's more cost effective to pay 10 Indian workers or 4 Irish workers instead of 1 American worker. I don't think it's a controversial opinion that the president of a country would want to create a bump in quality of life for it's poor/middle class and be protective it's economic livelihood.

I don't really think a race to the bottom is good for anyone except the corporations that benefit from it.

  9. I mentioned this in the Slack channel, but the framing of something like this is important. It is not impossible for Bernie to catch up. That's true. But it's frankly very unlikely.

I used this analogy. If you predicted a sporting contest where the percentage of winning was 55/45, that's a tossup. If you predict a political election to break that way, it's a thrashing. Bernie is further behind than 55/45. Again, I don't want to be a downer or a killjoy or anything like that. I think it's very important to have the proper framing. I'm not talking about anything but math. Mathematically in the sphere of politics he's really, really far behind.

e: Clinton is ahead by more delegates than Obama was ahead at this point in 2008

    https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/clinton-is-following-obamas-path-to-the-nomination/

Keep in mind Hilary has 26% of the delegates and Bernie has 18.8%, there is still a little hope as there are still a bunch of delegates to be won.

  10. Also Illinois, MO and Ohio aren't the south. Bernie did worse than even projected when he needed to beat the projections to stay viable. I'll keep the faith until the end and continue donating my time and money towards the campaign.

I think he is right, we need a political revolution that doesn't start and stop at the white house. 34% of the Senate and 100% of the House are up for reelection is 2016, this could be a good year to make serious gains for progressives using the message and momentum he has generated.

  11. Fine for me - I get the odd stutter here and there but nothing that's ever caused me any cause for concern - pre or post patch.

Going to state the obvious here but have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the mods? I use a couple and they've all been fine.

Yep, verified the game cache as well, etc. Will try and work on it today, I am not sure if I am willing to lose 30 hours of playtime!

  12. I still haven't risked the Dark Zone yet, definitely want to try that with a few Thumbs though.

I'm also playing on PC, but am taking my time with it. Just hit level 13 after about 9hrs of play--am in no hurry to rush through to the end game.

Let's group up before you hit 15 and hit up the Dark Zone, I think there is a cutoff after 14 where you are grouped with a higher tier of player.
