  1. Photos of things

I took a few photos from the Yerkes Observatory in Lake Geneva, WI
  2. Yep, every nerd has a "parts box/bag" hah. So I had my first hard drive fail on me, or at least I think its failing. Windows 10 started to fail to pick it up, when i opened up disk management it was there but listed as raw. I swapped sata cables and ports, Windows 10 picked it up now. It took a second for all of my data to show up after I rebooted my PC. Initially I saw it as empty but after 30 seconds my data was there all of a sudden. I ran a chkdsk and everything seemed OK. That was fine until steam started crashing, I restarted my PC and windows failed to pick up the drive and listed it as 'RAW' again. I picked up a new drive and swapped it out, but I wonder if there is something I can do to fix it. It is getting a little long in the tooth, Its just over 5 years old at this point. This was the same drive I had issues with that led to my witcher 3 saves being wiped and me getting a new 500gb SSD as my primary drive so I might as well bin it, its caused me a lot of heart ache in the last few months.

These are super interesting. This is going to sound weird, but they seem like the pieces of film you get in special editions of movies. Small pieces of narrative in a much larger story.
  4. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

I bought tickets in two different theaters, do I: See it in a nicer theater, with a good "normal" movie screen or see it in a crappier theater but Imax 3D? I really hate 3D, I think my left eye is a little fuzzy so sometimes 3D is really uncomfortable. The movie is fake 3D, but so was Mad Max: Fury road and I liked that. I also like Gravity and The Martian in 3D.
  5. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

So tickets go on sale tonight, just a heads up!
  6. Photos of things

Whoa, that looks to be an interesting event! I like garbage bag man. I've been doing a photo-a-week thing with my brother in law, this week was "modern architecture" but I kind of strayed from that theme a bit because I found this cool old polish restaurant near me with awesome old neon signs. I mean technically it modern because it isn't ancient The placement of the sign closest to me made for a really cool blue/orange/separation at the corner and ground. I may have went over the top with the saturation, but the longer exposure helped make the colors apparent anyway.
  7. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

This has been an excellent SO-who-is-not-into-games game.
  8. Star Wars Battlefront 3

Is anyone hoping into this beta today on Origin? Anyone else a little excited? My origin ID is YoThatLimp I haven't really kept up with the news about this game but I watched the stream Giant Bomb did and I really love that they nailed a lot of the Star Wars sounds/visual effects. There are some oddities like the floating upgrade "coins" to get into vehicles and pickup special weapons, that feels like very archaic at this point.
  9. Star Wars Battlefront 3

So I am still having issues with he power-up system, especially on Hoth. I understand the basic principal but the color of the icon, when the power-up spawns and where the power-up spawns is throwing me off. I find myself scrambling to find a single one one game then having way too many the next game, it's very odd.
  10. Star Wars Battlefront 3

Yeah the game definitely got better the more I understood it's systems (weird right?).
  11. Painting tabletop miniatures

Thanks, I am going to try that! I need to go back to the plastic and re-apply the primer again
  12. HOWL O'WEEN (Halloween)

So this year my wife is going as Scully from X-Files and seeing as I am a non-svelte, ugly bearded man I would make a pretty bad Mulder. I was thinking about making a mask out of foam and going as the masked killer from the "Our City" episode. Is that too deep of a cut? It makes a great themed costume with Scully, but I am worried no one will get it. I guess I can always say I am a "Voodoo priest" or some nonsense.
  13. Painting tabletop miniatures

I am not very good at this.
  14. Painting tabletop miniatures

The first figure is pretty rough tbh, I need to go back and add some detail today. two big things I learned: 1. The thinner the paint the better 2. Don't have too much paint on the brush.
  15. Painting tabletop miniatures

Damn, these miniatures are...well mini. I though the wash I had was black wash but it was a more black/brown, did not find out until after I applied it. I'll go back and do the highlights and see how it looks. I HAVE to get better at spraying primer, I am writing these three figures off as a learning experiment. I lose a ton of detail in the face when I sprayed which is a real bummer. Thankfully Imperial Assault just came out with an expansion set of stormtroopers so I can replace the ones I kind of messed up! I'll post pics so you can laugh.
  16. Painting tabletop miniatures

Yeah, that might be a problem for me as well! Have you seen these excellent youtube videos? I need to go get some white primer tonight, I think I am going to go with Krylon matte white. Did you decide on a primer Twig? I am going to only do the 3 Stormtroopers at a time as I can buy more if I fuck up too bad!
  17. Painting tabletop miniatures

Yeah, space might be a bit difficult. I have a small plastic folding table I might commandeer. Still thinking about doing the zombies?
  18. Painting tabletop miniatures

Ordered a paint set and some basic supplies, going to tackle my Stormtroopers from my Imperial Assault game first, very excited! Everything should be here Wednesday so should be able to tuck in this weekend! I need to grab some primer and matte lacquer from the craft store by me.
  19. Guild Wars 2

    Just hopped in again: YoThatLimp.9168
  20. Painting tabletop miniatures

Thanks for the equipment run down! My wife picked me up Star Wars: Imperial Assault for my bday and I really want to paint all of these minis, perfect timing!

  22. Non-video games

My wife bought my Imperial Assault for my bday, it seems rather fiddly but the minis are gorgeous! We also have brought out Dead of Winter twice now, I caved and bought the expensive box insert. I love the game (again a bit fiddly) but keeping the game organized and setting it up quickly kind of sucked. We have only played co-op on hardcore (and lost) we will probably add the betrayer in next time to up the ante now that we get the rules.
  23. Photos of things

I really dig the textures and colors in this, nice job!
  24. Idle Food - Cooking!

The texture of (some) tomatoes put me off for ages, so I definitely think this is it!
