  1. So Much Ireland (Help me plan my trip!)

Hey all, late to the party mostly because I'm really bad at recommending touristy stuff. The Game of Thrones exhibit would be one to see, a few friends have loved it. I'd also recommend the Burren, Aillwee Caves and Giant's Causeway. I'd also recommend Blarney Castle (although fair warning it has been turned into a totally American-focused tourist trap, but it is still a lovely castle and grounds), and Carlingford, which is just a gorgeous town Also as SuperBiasedMan says don't eat or drink in Temple Bar, there are regularly shock 'This is what we are charging tourists for a pint' reciepts posted on twitter and the like If you are in Dublin and looking for food you could do worse than Crackbird on Dame St, or a few restaurants on South William St. Hope these help!
  2. Grand Thumb Auto retro PC edition

That was a beautiful night gentlemen, we should do it again soon! Had no idea multiplayer GTA could be so much fun!
  3. Game Dev Talks/Lectures

Here's a business-oriented talk from one Steve Gaynor, which I really liked. I think the recognition of 'tiers' of indie and the fact that following success has benefits that finding success doesn't is really interesting.
  4. Plug your shit

Great work Jon! Have been doing artwork myself, colouring a pin-up by Will Sliney (Irish artist for Marvel comics): http://24.media.tumblr.com/2f98438bc8d080745f8c800adc70e034/tumblr_n00t07ZuRj1r34kceo1_1280.jpg
  5. The Idle Thumbs 10th Anniversary Committee

I only just saw the unveiling when Jon tweeted it, then saw this thread, amazing stuff, great work. I would've offered to contribute, was blown away by the amazing work!
  6. Life

Wonderful work tegan! My New Year's resolution is to sort out my life. Would love more time to draw and maybe make a game (I've made stuff with Unity before, but have always felt I'd pour a lot of energy into it and then there'd be no reaction).
  7. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

Duplicate dailies? The possibilities... the data scientist in me is now assuming Derek Yu is performing some sort of elabourate social mouse-in-maze experiment. The past few attempts I've had have been barely worth posting, but this was just crazy enough, Spelunky still surprises me (watch out for a very near spike miss!)
  8. Spelunky!

While every else talks about ghosting and other elite activities I return to my daily runs with a bang. Not a good bang.
  9. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

I'm still working on handling some more basic situations!
  10. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

holy crap that's the worst insta-death I've seen in a while, bad luck
  11. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

Being on GMT and playing late at night means I usually post a day late! I won't lie, I saw Korax's impressive bomb toss and tried my hand at it, turns out it's super hard.
  12. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

Haha, have been considering recording audio, will have to look into it. There was some light cursing at points I think I've been lucky once and found the Black Market, just once. Bizarrely good feeling.
  13. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

[edit: for some reason my post was submitted twice]
  14. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

"The Benny Hill switch" is my new favourite label. Yesterday's run, got further than expected (maybe a record?) but ended it all bashing the controller shouting "getupgetupgetupgetup". Fecking stuns!
  15. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

Just amazing, I love it! I really just shocked myself with this one, so embarrassing:
  16. HP Lovecraft

Lovecraft is an interesting writer to me for a few reasons. His work is really effective and evocative, even though more literary types (people who know what they are talking about) would say he doesn't have a high level of technical ability, and even considering the actual monsters he describes just seem silly these days. Part of that might be the modern obsession with Cthulhu transforming him into an icon for a certain portion of nerds. The other thing I find fascinating about Lovecraft is how he drew on his own fears, which were eccentric at the time and downright unacceptable now, to create something fundamentally fearful. He created The Shadow over Innsmouth from a fear that is completely distasteful, but the story itself is compelling. I guess I'm interested in that clash, where ugly believes lead to interesting art.
  17. Saints Row 4

I bought this in the half-off daily deal, it's quite a bit of fun. More of the same from Saints Row 3, but with an added element of "we thought superpowers would be fun".
  18. Night In The Woods

Happily backed this, the animation alone is enough to make me interested, looks gorgeous Wasn't the biggest fan of Aquaria, but it was obviously a good game, look forward to more.
  19. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

On one daily, after a really harsh day in work I sat down and started, and _immediately_ jumped and died on the spikes not 3 squares to the left. It was, as Chris Remo would say, 'bonkers'. Yesterday's daily seemed to go well, I almost gave Clyde a run for his money: Almost.
  20. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

If memory serves my reasoning was that the market appeared to be in a dense piece of rock and I only had 2 bombs, wasn't sure I could locate it. Probably a bad call on my part!
  21. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

Uploaded today's (23rd) run, it went pretty well (except a couple of notable stupid falls and well that whole end bit). Twig your run was excellent, a little bit more expert than mine, a little bit more ambitious
  22. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

Steam ID: UltimateHurl, look forward to some fun dailies!
  23. The Stanley Parable

I have to say I didn't know what to expect when I got this, but I've been really enjoying it. I love any attempt to explore gaming and narrative.
  24. Let's Draw Video Games

Great work tegan, love that it reminds me of Super Mario Bros haunted house levels :3
  25. Spelunky!

Oh wow this thread has exploded, I'll be recording my dailies from now on I guess. Love these videos
