I just encountered the Morpheus mission. The deadly psyonic energy that Morpheus has to release in order to serve the same purpose as dreaming... will paralyze your flipper if it reaches one of them. Interestingly, the flippers can be paralyzed distinct from each other, so you can release your paralyzed flipper by making shots with the one that is still active (I think). Right now I'm trying to figure out the deal with the orbs, the newborn-baby ranking, and the day-trading. This table is such a strange, jumbled collection of narratives. I find myself giggling about the design decisions that I assume have something to do with the reference material which I am entirely unfamiliar with. Does Moon Knight accidentally hit Khonshu a lot with his moon-crossbow while routing punks? The animation where Moon Knight puts the moon-crossbow back in its proper moon-spot makes me think that Moon Knight keeps a tidy moon-headquarters (though it is in need of a face-lift). BTW My current highscore is around 15,000,000 and Cm0nster is at 53,000,000.

This table cracks me up every time I find out he's got another moon-vehicle. Get to the moon-cab, we need to makes some moon-cash so I can buy an outboard moon-motor for my moon-boat. Also, Khonshu's guilt-trips are hilarious to me.
  3. Pinball Club

Let's do Moon Knight. I'll make a poster today.

I kinda want to do Bob's Burgers. I don't know how to play it, but it seemed interesting. Consensus is so difficult.
  5. Pinball Club

So uh, it looks like there is a significant Steam-sale on Pinball FX2 tables and Pinball Arcade Season 1-3 tables. No pressure. Anyway, I'm hoping we can start a new tournament tomorrow so how about we vote between Moon Knight and Tales of the Arabian Nights or any other table I guess, I'm just trying to limit these to make the choice easier. I'd like to abstain unless there is a tie. Get your vote in by 10 pm EST so I can make a poster for it and we can start the tournament tomorrow (lasting a week (maybe through next Sunday?(It doesn't matter))). Also of note, I added a few recent purchases to my table-list and elmuerte's.
  6. Interested in being in a game-club where you get to discuss a new game every week, but don't have enough time? This may be for you. thecatamites released 50 Short Games, a compilation of very small games that are... well I don't know how to describe it; that's a big part of the reason that I wanted to start a discussion-group for them. The games are incredibly short, typically taking between 5 seconds and 5 minutes to complete. They are often very simplistic, narrative-pieces with trill soundtracks and marker-drawings. If you are poor, then don't worry, each of the games can be downloaded for free from Glorious Trainwrecks (I think). So here is the plan: Every monday, I'm going to post the week's game. If you buy the compilation, the order will be very predictable for you as I'm just going to go down the list in the order that they are listed in the launcher. When I post the game, I will also post the link to the free download. Then we have a week to discuss it. a note: When I play some of these games, I have nothing to say about them. I am going to say something about them anyway. The goal here is to have a discussion of these games and without anything with which to disagree, agree, or respond to, the discussion might not happen. I implore you to do the same. I expect that these games can evoke some passionate arguments and I'm hoping for that. I suspect that such discussion will greatly increase all of our enjoyment of this game collection. I understand that lurkers have their reasons for maintaining wallflower-status, but just consider this request to say something about each game every week, even if you have nothing interesting to say. Otherwise, by game 28 it may get lonely in here. Let us begin! ************************************************************** For the week of July 21st, 2014 we will be playing: Magnificent Planet by thecatamites You can download the single game from here for free Or you can buy the entire collection of 50 games from here.
  7. Someone streamed their initial impressions of 50 Short Games.

If you take a screenshot of the Pinball FX2 table-selection screen and list which Pinball Arcade seasons you've bought, I'll write the list for you.

I'm not particularly impressed with my percussion sections or bass-lines, but I think about this scene from Naked and Famous all the time. http://youtu.be/mEM6xERy2e0?t=265

Tales of the Arabian Nights is a great (and free) table. It might be useful if we compile a list of tables that we already own (or would like to purchase at their current prices) so that we can corroborate the most available options for us all. I own: Zen Studios: Star wars: Han Solo Droids Episode IV Episode V Episode VI Balance of the Force Masters of the Force Starfighter Assault Darth Vader The Clone Wars Boba Fett Marvel Deadpool Doctor Strange Captain America Civil War The Avengers Fear Itself The Infinity Gauntlet World War Hulk Thor Moon Knight Ghost Rider X-Men Blade Iron Man The Amazing Spiderman Wolverine Other American Dad Family Guy Bob's Burgers Archer Portal Castle Storm Portal Earth Defense MARS Excalibur Paranormal Epic Quest Secrets of the Deep Biolab Pasha Rome Shaman Tesla El Dorado V12 Sorcerer's Lair Football League Plants vs, Zombies Fantastic Four Ms. Splosion Man Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 eXtreme Agents Buccaneer Nightmare Mansion Pinball Arcade: Attack from Mars Big Shot Black Hole Black Knight Bride of Pinbot Cactus Canyon Centaur Central Park Champion Pub Cirqus Voltaire Class of 1812 Creature from the Black Lagoon Cue Ball Wizard Dr. Dude El Dorado: City of Gold Elvira Firepower Flight 2000 Funhouse Genie Goin' Nuts Gorgar Harley-Davidson Haunted House Medieval Madness Monster Bash No Good Gofers PinBot Ripley's Believe It or Not Scared Stiff Space Shuttle Star Trek Tales of the Arabian Nights Taxi Tee'd Off Terminator 2 Theatre of Magic Twilight Zone I'm also willing to buy tables if someone wants to play a specific table I don't have. I'm really curious about Portal and Castle Storm.
  12. I Had A Random Thought...

I honestly think it has the opposite effect. Working in the service industry made me dislike people. If empathy building is the goal I'm going to vote for non-competitive, not-for-profit work that benefits a community.
  13. I Had A Random Thought...

I think making tipping illegal would be a better solution that mandatory service-industry experience.
  14. I really enjoyed the game and felt it did have opportunities for interesting interpretations regarding how artists view themselves and just the surreality of visualizing the operations of a narrative game in a space (you know, like what an adventure game would look like backstage if backstage was a physical place rather than code). I really enjoyed all the hints that there is more going on; it feels like you can type a code into the phone or press the right levers to make another door open. I did find and read the note leading to Mayflowernetworking.com and checked it out before seeing that there is a whole ARG type thing going on.
  15. Pinball Club

I'm down for including any table from any pinball-simulation.
  16. Pinball Club

Maybe those who want to participate in a tournament next week can nominate a few tables and we can all take turns eliminating nominations from the group of them until we only have one table left? I'm at a loss as to what a good way to select another table would be.
  17. Netrunner!

So if I buy TableTop Simulator and download this mod from the workshop, can Fantasy Flight file a cease-and-desist and retroactively remove the mod from my copy of the game? http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=586420739&searchtext=
  18. Idle Cook Club - Veggie Feeds-me: My Body Is Ready

The night she made it, I thought the soup Cm0nster made was a pleasant dish for winter, though it did have a slight wateriness. The cornbread was like a dessert; it was like cake without icing. Today it was delicious. Once my spoon couldn't feed me fast enough I started pouring the contents of the bowl directly into my mouth until it was all gone. The vegetables and beans seem to have absorbed the broth and the broth absorbed some of the vegetables and beans. Also of note: Cm0nster made black-bean tacos before the soup and it was excellent as always. It's ine of my favorite dishes. Make sure to heat the taco shells in the oven first to bake the staleness off.

 Come join us for a 2-hour jam on Saturday, January 30th 2016! Feel free to arrange a more specific time to meet up with others. Everyone has life situations though so this is a flexible event. The goal is to make a game, the suggested time is intended to help folks scope very small projects that are more likely to get finished and which won't require much of a commitment. Having doubts that you can make a game in 2 hours? Here are some tools that emphasize convenience and ease: Flickgame by Increpare click spoiler tag for instructions: PlingPling by Increpare click spoiler tag for instructions: TinyChoice by Increpare click spoiler tag for instructions: Want more flexibility? Feel free to use any tools you like. Draw a maze and upload it to imgur. Place a figurine in your room, take a picture of it and list the things we should try to find in the Hidden Picture. It'll be fun to make a game and share it with us!
  20. Game Jams

Were all the writer's duties up front? I would imagine that everything would get written in the first stage and the majority of the time-allotment would go to art, scripting, sound, and implementation.
  21. Amateur Game Making Night

My plan is to find and document succinct tutorial videos around 10min on each major piece of functionality I need. I already have a video for animation and a video for modeling that includes rigging (under 10 minutes!). Once I find one on UVs, I'll be able to refresh myself in thirty minutes. That's the plan anyway.
  22. Rainbow Six: Siege

So at this point I've played 67 hours of this game, I wanted to provide an update. I'll just list some thoughts: -I think today is the first day I've played where I felt the desire for new maps. I still haven't memorized all the destructible walls in the layouts or every possible entry point, but I certainly have familiarity with the most common pathways on all the maps. -I still enjoy the game a lot. -Everyday you get one new challenge that rewards you with an xp-bonus equal to an extra win. My daily-play has become focused on surmounting one of those challenges. I can only have 3 challenges in the queue at a time, so for maximum earning potential, I do an average of one challenge a day (so that I can get the next day's challenge in the queue). I don't usually pay attention to challenges with xp-bonuses in multiplayer shooters, but these are so general and advertised that I can't help but say to myself "I might as well use Ashley since it'll help me towards this 250xp bonus". I only play Terrorist Hunt when a challenge for it pops up. I actually enjoy playing Terrorist Hunt whenever I do, but it isn't thrilling at all for me. It's more of a casual shooty shooty thing to do on a lazy evening. And in case you are wondering why I care about earning xp, two new operators are supposed to come out in February and they are rumored to cost 25,000xp each; I have 40,000xp. -I only talk on mic when I am home alone. I rarely hear people on mic in casual providing relevant information unless I start doing so myself and others join in. Mic use in this game has made me reconsider my tendency to not use a mic in other multiplayer competitive shooters. I loaded up Titanfall the other day with the mic plugged in expecting that I would be just as chatty as I am in Rainbow Six: Siege but there was nothing I could tell my teammates that was of any use. In Rainbow Six: Siege, the advantage of having someone on mic is very apparent; they are announcing positions while operating cameras, telling you where and when they plan to breach, explaining how they died. Because of this, players tend to want other teammates to talk which is rare in games I've played. -I've never played Counter-Strike, but I played a lot of Shadowrun (2007). I think a lot of people are turned off by the fact that they will likely be watching other people play more than they will be playing themselves. I'm not, I think it's great. I got my beverage and my phone and if the game isn't interesting I check twitter or read an article, if the game is interesting then I am watching it like other people watch sports. I can see why someone might think that a game is less enjoyable if it requires something to do in the down-time, but I really enjoy the part when I'm dead. Rounds are (4min?) long at max to put pressure on the attackers. It only feels like things are taking too long if someone is AFK and so we kick them. -I find myself wanting to capture video of me playing, but I quickly realize that viewers who don't play the game wouldn't really see what is going on. If you aren't intimately familiar with the maps, then it just looks like two players seeing each other, both shooting and one of them dying. But those of us who play a lot are listening to which barricades are being blown in order to conceptualize what shape the attack is going to take. We know where the trapdoors are and where the roamers are likely to ambush us from. We know that a sound coming from a hole we made in the wall means we should open up on it. It's a lot of fluid information that requires an understanding of the map and I don't know how to communicate that in a game-play video. yup.
  23. 2-Hour Jam

A co-worker of mine slipped and fell off the tail-gate of a pick-up truck while performing duties at work yesterday. I suggested that he go through the official injury-reporting channels which he did, but I am not sure if I encouraged him to subject himself to being hassled more than necessary. It was on my mind last night.
