While we're talking random RPG Maker games, my wife would love me to recommend Ib. http://www.vgperson.com/games/ib.htm I've had fun when I've played it, but having worked with RPG Maker before also makes me critical of some of the design choices.

Oh nice, I'll be picking that up so I don't have to listen to everyone talk about Bloodborne all the time.- 1284 replies

Finally, after plugging at it for a few hours here and there, I have managed to assemble the Zong of the Zea and retire. Unfortunately, I had to start looking stuff up in the wiki, because even my copious notes just weren't enough to figure out where to get certain items. They also patched a while back to make the Zong of the Zea assemble from a bunch of sub-parts, making it easier to not accidentally spend the various items you need to collect and giving you some minor bonuses on the way to keep you going. Well worth playing as long as you're ready for how slow it plays.

Yay, my wife will be busy next weekend and I got myself a Sounders ticket a couple rows up from a few friends with season tickets. Since it's bleachers, it sounds like it'll be easy enough to move seats and party with them. I also think I'm going to get in on the MLS streaming package so I can watch some games when I can't go.

I wish they'd provide more tools for traffic management for sure. It would be nice to click on an intersection and change the light setup, or even force an overpass or something.

The Boif and I are going to spend all night playing Handsome Collection

Hmm, might be worth it for Pre-Sequel split screen with my wife, but I dunno. I feel pretty exhausted on the Borderlands formula after playing through 2 last year. -
Somewhat more dynamic than GW2 I'd say. There's more to do than just dodging out of red circles (keep in mind I'm only level 40 in GW2 and 30 or so in NW) but positioning matters about the same amount in the end.

I think I've played that Murder She Wrote game before, either that or I had a serious case of deja vu. Listening to it being described was pretty eerie. Also, if I was caught up on Twin Peaks, I'd start paying for random and meaningless messages similar to "The owls are not what they seem" to be read out in the middle of the podcast, because why not?

And no pollution from a crematorium I believe?

Back in MH Freedom Unite, I used the double blades and chugged a potion that gives you unlimited stamina, and went to town with the Demon Dance.

Idle Thumbs 202: Poopwater, New Mexico

Drunk driving (in Forza) nights used to be really awesome. I might have to get out my wheel and do that again. I noticed that immediately. There's really nothing about that article that showed any forethought. Around here, I've never seen a place for rent by the public that was furnished. Occasionally, a friends parents or something will have a house up for rent because they're retiring or something. That's about it. Is there a particular store/brand you like? I've got a really nice pillow, but I bought it when I was a stomach sleeper so it's way too thin for me now. Thinking about getting a replacement. -
A similar looking scene greeted me when my population outstripped my crematorium supply and all my graveyards filled up without me noticing. Due to traffic problems, there was always a body that might sit for a few days longer than it should of, so I was ignoring the tweets and map symbols until it was way too late. Despite having 500k in the bank, I almost dropped into the negative before I sorted it all out.

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS
Dewar replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
I remember seeing Heroes Charge on Giant Bomb and thinking it ripped off the Blizzard art style pretty hard. It's awesome that it turns out it a rip-off of a rip-off of Blizzard's style. -
Kind of against the spirit that the TIE bomber wasted all its missiles on fighters when there are capital ships to destroy.

Our current townhouse was remodeled a few years ago and they put some pretty good sound dampening in the walls. We hear thumps occasionally, but not loud enough to bother me, I'm more concerned at times that the thumps are due to the volume of my TV, but then I turn the TV off and there's still thumping, so whatever I guess. I would never live in an apartment complex ever again. I'm too worried about thumping too much on the floor that it disrupts my lower neighbors and am tired of hearing the bullshit from my upper neighbors. I can tolerate sharing a wall.

This weekend I got around to trying something a bit more difficult with my Anova. I took some red potatoes, chopped them up into cubes, put some frozen butter, garlic paste, bacon, and a sprig of rosemary in there and vacuum packed the whole thing. 183 degrees Fahrenheit for 2 hours and they were cooked perfectly, still just a little bit of body so they didn't just turn into mash, but quite tender. I think I might make a few smaller batches and throw them in the freezer for emergency side dishes. Well, at least as emergency as you can get when it requires 2-3 hours to cook.

For me, traffic started to be a big deal at around 55k. At that point, garbage and dead people were stacking up all over the place, despite having plenty of room, just because hearses and garbage trucks couldn't get to where they needed to go. I figured out after some playing around with my cash, that the cargo trains and boats were creating huge amounts of heavy trucks that were completely swamping my already busy industrial core. I've de-centralized those services now, and things seem to be going better. I've topped 60k now and am saving up the cash for the space elevator. Hard, not really because I've always had plenty of money and have never been in danger of actually loosing, but frustrating at times, yes.

My experience with them has been pretty negative. I don't mind the ugly, but the frame rate is pretty lousy (even worse than the original sometimes.)

The Tested guys have mentioned a couple of times on their podcast that perfect motion tracking makes things feel more real than more flashy bumpmaps and such. I'm certainly willing to take a drop in quality if everything else is smooth in VR. Of course, I'm willing to take the quality hit for a smooth experience without VR as well. Frame rate drops will pretty quickly ruin a game for me.

I ended up having to list items I got for free differently than things I paid fore, just to get some sanity in my "Beat more games than I buy" goal. For FTP games, I don't count it at all until I've actually put money into it. Once I've put money into it, I generally consider around 6 hours to be "enough" depending on the amount of money spent, and if there's a goal by that time that I really want to reach.

Part of the fun for me so far has been being able to just let things be a mess. In SimCity, the build area was so small that I felt like I just had to squeeze every bit of efficiency out of it. I'm having a lot more fun just tossing roads around and living with the consequences.

Maybe I misunderstood that timeline on this thing, but http://offworld.com/ seems to be up and running. I'm not a fan of the site layout, but the couple articles I read are pretty good. I already pre-ordered "Her Story."

I have had that argument with enough people that I gave up.
