I don't understand anything about that ad and I refuse to watch it for three minutes to find out what he's selling. Who is he even?

A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes
Dewar replied to BigJKO's topic in Movies & Television
There's a lot of Star Trek fan work out there right now, did Paramount throw out some sort of open license on it all, or are all these Kickstarter projects just running under the radar? -
It's part of the company health initiative, they give you a little cash each year to spend on a gym membership or certain exercise equipment. I had a gym membership for a while, but didn't get out to play racquetball as much as I wanted so I eventually canceled. So now I'm looking for some other way to spend it. I've actually gone kayaking a few times, so I know I actually really like the workout I'd get from a rowing machine, but I could probably use some form tips so I'll check out those videos. I saw the Concept2 D on Amazon for $900, but I was hoping to get down closer to $500 without getting a complete piece of junk. Edit: Any opinions on Life Span as a company, or this rower in particular? http://www.lifespanfitness.com/rw1000-indoor-rower The only thing I see about it is that it only has 5 levels of resistance.

Take a firm loaf of Rosemary Bread, slice it and brush with olive oil. Then broil it until the outside edge turns dark brown and the inside brushed area starts to get tough. Take the bread out and rub a clove of garlic against the oiled area it like it was a cheese grater. Spread goat cheese over the top and serve. It will not only make your breath smell bad, but will be so garlicy that it burns. Also, it will burn again if you drink anything fizzy, and again when your brush your teeth.

Hmm, so I'm thinking of actually spending my fitness reimbursement at work on part of a rowing machine. Anyone have any recommendations or things to look for? As usual, I'm always tempted to just order off of Amazon and pray, but I have no idea what I even need.

My part of Washington does everything via mail now. There are drop boxes at every public library that take the ballots for free, or you can just slap a stamp on them and mail them anywhere. That way you have a couple of weeks to decide, which gives me time to read up a bit of folks for lower positions that I don't really think about day to day.

*sigh* Apparently that's another thing I misinterpreted from guides I read online.

Bloodborne (Dark Souls 2 successor (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor)))

Wow, that's a pretty horrible AI glitch. -
You can tell an enraged monster because they huff a puff and slobber a lot by the way.

I went on one kinda brief (2 hours, kinda goofing off) exploration trip today out to the nearest unexplored system I could find. That unexplored system ended up being worth 245k on its own, and the full trip worth just over 500k. All of my trips together up to this point only netted a million. I'm not sure if I just got really lucky, or they upped exploration rewards in the last couple of months.

Hmm, I don't recall having to do any weird claw-hand stuff in Dark Souls. In the end, it's to-each-their-own anyway. I'm the weirdo that prefers controllers for FPS's as well.

I guess that's the problem with only hearing second hand opinions of lousy comments. I'm sure it would have been obvious to me had I been reading them personally.

I had no idea the Scythian was female or male, I figured it was left ambiguous on purpose. In that last paragraph seems to me to be a poor male-centric assumption. There are a lot of reasons why a woman might say they like sexualized women in games, it doesn't have to be about wanting to be welcome in the boy's club. That's pretty close to the flawed GG statements that women only play games to try and manipulate men in some way.

Automatic patching would be nice, but I figure the Steam version will probably use the same launcher so you won't get that anyway.

I'm kinda tempted to buy a few of these even though I don't even own a Wii-U.

The tail might have been long and numbers might have been much higher than that in the end, but 400k isn't gangbusters. There were 11 million 3DS's sold in NA back in September 2013, so that's less than a 5% adoption rate. I'd like to hope that the budget behind Fire Emblem was such that 400k could be profitable, but we live in the age where Tomb Raider can sell 2 million and be seen as a failure.

What about the data sources that Cities: Skylines uses to build the automatic height maps available at http://terrain.party/ -
As far as I'm aware every intersection is a light. There isn't even road priority like Sim City has where traffic on the smaller road has to stop for traffic on the larger one who gets right-of-way.

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS

Just drop the end and call it the Nintendo. That's what people call it anyway, right? -
Start a new game and zone just one residential zone and utilities with nothing else? Put it at zero taxes and someone's gonna move in, right?
-
The analog movement is important not because of being able to walk slow or fast, but being able to move at various angles. With KB+M, you can move in 4 directions easily, and 8 directions by pressing more than one key. It's camera relative of course, so you have the option to swing the camera around with the mouse to move at more finite angles, but since Dark Souls is managing the camera for you with lock-on, that's often not an option. Basically, any character action game where you want your movement to not be limited by your camera angle is better with a stick is tough with KB+Mouse.

Dark Souls 2 (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor))
Dewar replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
The main change I've heard is 6 player multiplayer and some minor equipment re-balancing to take out some of the cheese tactics and balance things a bit better for that many folks on screen. I don't think they're doing anything too intense. I played through once and was waiting for all the DLC before a played through a second time, so it's only natural for me to get the whole pack now that it's coming out. If I had already played the DLC, it probably wouldn't be worth it. Edit: The announcement at the bottom of http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Dark+Souls+II+Scholar+of+the+First+Sin says "New Enemy Placement and Gameplay Design, Graphics and Performance Update, and More Online Players" are unique to the new package and not patched into the original DS2.- 1284 replies

I enjoyed going back and watching some attitude-era stuff, but I always get embarrassed watching it with my wife around. That's not a very typical reaction from me, but some of that stuff was just crazy inappropriate at the time, let alone 10 years later.
