I forgot to write about it, but last weekend I beat both The Talos Principle and Dragon Age Inquisition. I went back and forth on Talos. There were times where it really annoyed me, and others where I thought it was pretty awesome. It was also surprisingly tough to get a good framerate in, the autosense settings felt like they were giving me around 15 FPS and I had to turn down a bunch of the pretty to even get it to 30. Still, the last bit at the top of the tower was awesome and almost makes me want to play again to read all the QR codes a second time. I'm glad I didn't stress too much about the stars. I ended up with 8 and went and watched the special ending on Youtube and I would have been pretty ticked had I put all that work in and just got that. I would recommend it if you can get it for sale I've put some thoughts in the Dragon Age thread already, but I was pretty happy with my experience over all. I didn't get caught up too much in the grind, but didn't power through either, and I felt like I got about the right amount of "stopping to smell the roses" in. It was remarkably freeing to know ahead of time that doing everything was going to be near impossible, so I just didn't stress and did what I felt like each time I turned it on. Unfortunately, that also meant missing some pretty interesting sounding companion storylines that I might go back and do later with my pre-endgame save.

I was seriously bummed with Alistair left to become a drunkard when I brought in Loghain. I stand by my decision, I didn't want to die, and I certainly wasn't going to sacrifice Mr. Ungrateful.

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS
Dewar replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
I imagine a chunk of the money is going to the game owner as well, which is what traditionally makes it difficult to sell mods. The main thing I'm concerned about is what happens when the game updates, breaks a mod you paid for, but there's no one left who cares enough to fix it. -
Every EULA says that.

I was 17 for the Phantom Menace, so I don't have youthful exuberance as an excuse. I was already a cynical brat by then

Dark Souls 2 (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor))
Dewar replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
Yeah, I just wonder if they attached weapon hit boxes to FPS would it be possible to do other shenanigan. Like, for instance, having FPS so low that a weapon has completely passed through you between frames and never registers a hit at all. I suffered with just leaving it locked at 30 FPS to avoid the durability bug the first time through. I'd love to get a smooth 60 without penalties.- 1284 replies

I remember, at the time, thinking the third prequel was pretty rad and it almost making up for how crappy the second prequel was. I'm afraid to watch them again to remember them better.

Dark Souls 2 (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor))

It's ridiculous that they'd base anything important to game-play on FPS at all. I wonder if I locked it to 10 FPS if I'd be a god.- 1284 replies

Rock Band 3 already did a pretty decent job of settling into that platform position, I have faith that a next gen revamp will continue that trend.

See I notice all the time in soccer where one guy is down and folks from the other team come and try to pick him up or otherwise mess with them and the guy on the ground is swatting them away.

I'm worried about the possible experience resets coming down the pipe. I'm one of the poor suckers who tried to level up the regular way in KF1 instead of cheating, and I would have thrown a fit if they'd reset things.

I have a friend who's really into KF1, so I've played quite a lot of it. I'll be grabbing it if he does, but I'm pretty wary of early access games these days.

Slowly sliding toward dropping $900 on a rowing machine. I don't know what I'm thinking.

I noticed that same thing this weekend watching the original movies in the original format this weekend He also looks exhausted after. I guess that says something about Jim Henson Frank Oz.

I believe it has to be a Fed controlled system, not just a base.

Clinging to walls and doing other Ninja crap can really help hold down a point as well.

I don't know why any sport allows fighting. In my book, you shouldn't touch a player of the opposing team after the play is over, even to help them up, period.

A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes
Dewar replied to BigJKO's topic in Movies & Television
I think there are about equal numbers of light hearted, serious, and just plain campy episodes of STNG. Unfortunately, when you distill Next Generation down to the "best" episodes, that's where you're left with mostly the serious ones. -
I've actually been playing occasionally again. I still like it a lot.

The core campaign path is short, but the power requirements ensure that you have to do at least some of the side stuff. I enjoyed my time with the side stuff more than the main story for the most part. I unlocked every area, spent all the power I could and then finished shortly after.

Just finished tonight, last few fights were pretty easy, and I kinda enjoyed that. I would give the game 4/5.
-
I've over-leveled most everything and it's actually made the game more enjoyable for me. I'm trying to decide how much more side stuff I want to do, or if I should just wrap it up.

All this talk is reminding me i wanted to get a Surface Pro 2 before they disappear completely.
