Nick Plays FROM; Currently - Bloodborne
Dewar replied to SL128's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
After some time away from the Idle Thumbs channel, I've been catching up on these streams. The number of times that Nick says he only has a couple of hours in him at the start of the 9 hour Anor Londo stretch is getting pretty funny, knowing what's to come. -
*shrug* I already paid for the original game at launch, so what's a little more I guess? Meh, I dunno.

The Division season pass is on sale for half off. After watching some of the survival stuff on the Waypoint twitch, I decided to buy it.

ASTRONEER - A game about aerospace and interplanetary exploration
Dewar replied to singlespace's topic in Video Gaming
Ended up buying this for a few friends last night and getting my fill after about three hours. I really like it and am happy that I bought a few copies. I think I'll wait about 6 months before firing it up again though, what's here is fairly well polished, but there isn't much. -
Sounds like what happened to Chris when he was trying to dive to the bottom of a pool and get back out just in time to not drown, when there were later power ups that would have made it trivial.

At least some of those games in the video are still in early access. In general I only count fully released games. That leaves me, in no particular order: Witness Darkest Dungeon Hitman Overwatch Civilization 6 Sunless Sea DLC

Yeah, I saw that. Makes me a bit nervous, but then a ton of games that were supposed to be in early access for 6 months ended up being there for 2 years anyway. At least they're being honest. -
I'd highly recommend the new Bounty Hunt mode. It has some AI to kill like attrition, but the constantly moving goals keep one team from locking an area down and owning it the whole match.

I think I'm going to buy copies of this for a few friends for Christmas. I've been waiting for it for a while. -
There's still a decent amount of flexibility on how you fulfill a lot of the opportunities. Goals like "get a chef's outfit" are often more complicated than they sound.

I'm feeling pretty great right now. The Lexipro is helping and I feel like a new man.

The arc after the crystal arc was pretty cool because it involved a lot more talking and a little less fighting.

I watched most of a 12 hour stream from one of the guys who used to play with Brad on Giant Bomb. It seems like the game is completely different now?

Wow, so much progress so quick. I'm way behind in streams. -
It sure seems like Occulus has a different idea of what "preorder" means than most customers do. They did the same thing with the original headset right, shipping them to Best Buy before they fulfilled all the preorders?

I think a lot of the relative difficulty of the game has to do with the build you're using, and how fast of an action game you like to play. As has been mentioned in earlier posts, poise took a nerf in DS2 and again in DS3, so if you have a play style that you expect to get hit sometimes, the games get harder as you go along. On top of that, DS3 enemies especially are a lot more fast paced and simply swing more often, compounding those issues even more. Personally, I've always specifically avoided using a shield or heavy armor, even in DS1, but also have a hard time keeping up with the speed of enemies in DS3, so I found DS2 (excepting the DLC) to be the easiest. Going back and playing it again with the DLC, I might say DS2 has become my favorite as well. It feels flexible in a way that neither DS1 or DS3 feel, has the polished mechanics and controls, but combat is still slower and more strategic than DS3. -
Idle Thumbs 290: The Sad Story of a Modern Idiot

I found that boss fight so hard that I went all the way around the back door into Blight Town and never even did the depths until 2/3rds of the way through the game. -
Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

The feel of the shooting improved a ton in Uncharted 2, but I still wouldn't call it great. If you've already got a copy of the collection, I'd suggest you play through the first level and see how you feel. If you'd have to pay for it, I'd say pass. -

The Giant Bomb guys were also saying that a good number of games on Steam that work with the Vive standing-only experience just work with Occulus touch. Now that the Vive and Occulus provide roughly the same experience for roughly the same price, and my PC isn't anywhere near my living room so I don't have room for Roomscale, I'm having a hard time figuring out what to spend my bonus on.

I like the concept of closing off common paths through the levels, but I wish they'd just shut doors rather than use mines. It is not fun to be 3/4 of the way through a run and then trip a mine.

Both of them until the end, though they end up having to consult a walkthrough. Looks like the first ep of Puzzle of Flesh is free, if you want a taste. http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/choose-our-own-adventure-10282015-phantasmagoria-a/2300-10816/ -

I believe both the Phantasmagoria games have videos on Giant Bomb Premium as well. Puzzle of Flesh in particular ends with some incomprehensible puzzles. -
I have it on PC, though I've only played 5-ish games. Being in a group also gets you the happy hour bonus, so it's not completely pointless. Sadly, the Waypoint group on PC is almost always empty, but there's tons of folks online in the Giant Bomb group.
