Payday 2 introduced a really shady P2W lottery. Please reconsider the idle thumbs curation!
Dewar replied to hirn1appen's topic in Video Gaming
Hmm, I must have played over a the week separator or something, I did two matches over the weekend and got safes. As for weapon mods, very true, but I haven't put enough time into the game to really double-up on a lot of things. -
Sweet, I hadn't heard about the new Hulu subscription plan. That might be worth trying.

None of the same folks on it unfortunately. I'd have loved to see an XBLIG team do well for themselves.

Played a couple of games this weekend and was disappointed to see that the safes that drop take the place of one of the cards you win at the end of the match, meaning that you have effectively have a 33% less chance of getting a useful item in a system that already loves to give you shotgun parts when you've never actually equipped a shotgun. -
I think I might try to get a similar setup configured for next weekend's post Halloween party. I haven't gotten to play this at all because I want to go in blind with whomever I play with and I'm starting to get itchy. Thankfully my wife has a laptop so at least we've got the hidden screen part covered.

For PvP, "Pay to Win" is equivalent to "Someone else paid and I lost because of it" where in PvE it equates to "Someone else paid and we won, but I didn't get to do as much." Still inherently annoying, but not as bad I don't think. Where it gets bad is if the game is balanced such that it's significantly harder (or impossible) to win in PvE contet without paying, because then it starts to drift back to "I didn't pay, so I lost" territory. -

Sorry, the greed thing was not based on anything said in this thread, it was from the fake website and the various pictures of angry folks in the two Kotaku articles. It frustrates me that when people have legitimate complaints on the internet, however rare that may be, that they start using hyperbolic terms that just makes the argument seem dumb. -

It's disappointing that the fairly robust paid update schedule isn't making them enough money so that they also have to enter into the micro-transactions business. That being said, I haven't played as much as either of you, but the inability to get the attachments I want for the guns I want to use has certainly been frustrating in the past. I might be willing to pay to buy specific part rather than rely on the random lottery, but the fact that the items coming out of the locked safes are actually better than anything else in the game is not the way I want this to go. At least the special drills drop randomly for players now, instead of being exclusively purchasable items. Edit: Also, why does every change to try and earn more money always called greed? -
Concept art from a new (presumably cancelled) ALIEN film

That's a shame. District 9 was one of the best movies I've ever seen, but his follow ups haven't interested me. -
From what I understand, Japan has it even worse. I can't image it.

Well, you can subscribe to YouTube now to remove the ads. I plan on trying it, but I wonder if it will effect the creators positively or negatively.

Official Giant Bomb Thread Mostly for Complaining About Dan
Dewar replied to tegan's topic in Idle Banter
I hadn't heard about that. Dan is weirdly open-minded at times, so hopefully this will be one of those times and it turns out well.- 1367 replies

It's most certainly serving the SXSW brand, that's all that festival is now, a giant brand. That doesn't mean that it can't be useful for other reasons as well.

Really, from a population density point of view it seems like a good idea to have someone around such a concentrated group of people. Any building downtown around here has dedicated security, which isn't exactly the same thing, but I think I'd rather have a cop than an armed security guard.

I logged in last night to check things out. On the plus side, I was attacked precisely once in the last 3 weeks, and I won that invasion in a minute or two. On the minus side, I took a look at my resources. On average, only about 10% of my total of the refined resources were actually on my base, with the other 90% on my FOB. I have about one of each weapon and vehicle on my base and barely any plants, all the rest are on the FOB. Besides the fact that makes them able to be stolen, it also means that you can't sell them, so now I have like 30 gun emplacements that I paid to fulton that are completely worthless to me. Additionally, if the server goes offline, you have no access to any of that stuff which can end up sending you way into GMP debt, since money is stored up on the FOB as well. Rorie on Giant Bomb told a story of logging in when the servers were in maintenance and being 2 million GMP in debt immediately and starting to lose guys due to poor morale. I'm so glad I beat this before they rolled out this additional BS. I don't know how I would have researched anything cool with no way to sell appreciable amounts of resources for GMP.

Is it some of the same team between Steamworld Dig and Miner Dig Deep? I love Miner Dig Deep and haven't found another mining-type game that was as cool as that one.

Interesting, Those breasts that are pictured appear to be quite a bit thinner than the ones I buy, even after trying to flatten them, but that is certainly worth a try.

You can also get dried tofu at an Asian market for a similar consistency. An added bonus is that it tends to absorb more marinade.

The problem with Warframe is that you reach a point where normal progression (playing a mission once, beating it, moving onto the next) is no longer sufficient to proceed to the next mission, either because your equipment isn't good enough or you need to assemble a key to get to some of the later missions. Updates have improved this greatly, but you'll still eventually reach that spot. I was OK putting a little money in and repeating missions if needed, my other friends were less interested.

Warframe looks pretty beautiful on PC. I haven't played Destiny so I can't compare, but I'd guess if the PS4 version looks ugly it might be a port issue.

The small joys of life. Hitting up a bunch of different costume shops looking for a feminine looking ruffled top to go with my corset, finally finding a Sexy Highlander (not the movie, like the literal place in Scotland with a kilt and everything) costume in large that I can squeeze into, then going up to the nice old lady running the cash register and saying "I'm just glad I could find something that fits me!" Edit: This might be funnier if I mentioned that I'm a guy, since I don't think I've explicitly said that outside the Feminism thread.

It makes a really good chat room with graphics. CK2 actually has a lot of waiting at certain points, so it's nice to have something to fill time.
