  1. Steam Trading Card

Well, I guess I'll just have to live on the same hope that I have for my Baseball collection. Hopefully, enough people with cards will loose intrest that the remaining ones get rare.

You could try adding some nobles to your court from the Decisions menu on the Intrique screen. You might get someone who would make a better steward or someone that you have a lot of compatible traits with that has a good opinion of you. A passable steward (or any counsil position really) should have 10+ in the relevant stat. If your wife has particularly poor stats, the thumbs thing to do would be assasinate her and find a better replacement. If you decide to do this, remember you don't have to take the game's suggestions for wives, you can pull up a list of everyone in the game from one of the buttons on the bottom right, filter by female, unmaried, adult, (optionally same religion and culture as well,) and then sort by stewardship. The other thing you can do is just hang onto the extra county for now, stomach the penalties, and hope that your situation improves. Edit: I guess your Steward's skill isn't relevant to this, just yours and half of your wife's. See this article: http://crusaderkings-two.wikia.com/wiki/Demesne

    1) Get a wife with higher stewardship 2) Get a steward with higher stewardship 3) There's a type of research that ups your demense size, I forget what it's called but it's at the bottom of the right hand research track 3) Find a person who really really likes you and make him a count 4) Find a family member who is humble, if possible, and definitely not ambitious, and give him a county It is certainly not bad to give your son a county. Him "leaving your court" simply means that now that he has his own title, you don't have direct control over every action of his. He can get married on his own, make decisions reguarding his own vassals, etc. He's still a part of your Kingdom. If possible, you should marry your sons off before you give them a title though, as they typically make poor marriage decisions.
  4. Shadowrun Kickstarter

I'm thinking about bringing along 3 riggers on my next run, then they have to worry about repair costs, not me
  5. Why So Serious Sam 3?

Whoops, I got sucked in by Deus Ex.
  6. Fez 2

Oh, I'm certainly not saying that every developer should disconnect. I'm just saying that if you are susceptible to the type of crap that the internet spews out on a daily basis, I'm OK with you just saying "fuck it, I'm out" in a social media sense. I just don't get why the game has to be shut down as well. Heck, there are plenty of days that I just don't want to read about whatever crap has everyone's knickers in a bind, so I don't.
  7. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

That's good to hear. Things got really awesome for me after ringing the first bell. Unfortunately, I had to return the game to the rental place at that point.
  8. Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition

Every time I think about starting this game on Steam, I think about how I've never beaten Neverwinter Nights or Icewind Dale.
  9. Fez 2

More developers should feel comfortable canceling their twitter and letting a PR department handle these sorts of things. Dyack has finally gotten to the point that he realizes that he can be quite toxic when he talks about stuff, so now he's limiting his personal interviews to the facts and letting PR take care of it. I wholey endorse Fish locking his twitter, I just wish the game didn't have to suffer for it.

And now I also beat Dust: An Elysian Tale. I'm not a huge fan of that style of combat in a 2d game, but I still enjoyed this quite a bit. A warning to anyone else who's playing, the last boss is grueling, buy every health item you can.

Finally, after a couple of years playing it on and off on steam, I have beaten the original Deus Ex. Once I relaxed and gave up my non-lethal play through and instead went for minimally-lethal, I had a ton of fun. It's one of those classics that's as good as everyone says, and with non of the control clunkiness of going back to play a game like XCOM.
  12. Shadowrun Kickstarter

The past games that this one is going to imitate were in theory open world games, but I found it more frustrating than anything as there was really one ever one place to go that was useful, so you were wandering around aimlessly getting in constant fights for little payoff. At least, that's how I felt about the SNES game.
  13. Shadowrun Kickstarter

You think? I thought the neon and chrome juxtaposed with the grim worked really well.
  14. Feminism

Huge spoilers for Charles Stross's second Laundry Files novel "The Jennifer Morgue" below. If you've read it already, or have no intention of reading it, there's some interesting feminist stuff in there. Synopsis: The real spoiler, ruins the ending, do not read if you're interested by my first spoiler: So yeah, interesting book, well worth reading, even with my complaints.

They still gave me a 90% which was just fine as the class was pass/fail anyway. That bites about your physics programming class, most of my teachers would have just deducted 5 or 10 percent but let me re-submit it.
  16. I Had A Random Thought...

I don't like big boobs. Maybe that means I'm an evolutionary throwback. That would explain a lot. Edit: I quite enjoyed my final chemistry research paper. I picked an article on a new technique in water purification, got about half way through the paper before I realized some major failings that made the method seemingly worthless, and then spent the next two weeks looking up coroborating sources to rip it apart. I would have gotten a perfect score on the paper if I hadn't turned it in a week late.

Not sure if it was really applicable in this case since the child was so young, but I don't know if it was ever mentioned in the stream so I wanted to say something. A child othen takes on the culture of their teacher, and almost always takes on their religion. That's part of the advantage of teching your heirs yourself (or at least by someone else in your family,) it garantees that they have the same culture/religion as you. It's been my experience that max speed skips some events and pop-ups that would normally pause the game. I usually stick with the speed right below max myself.
  18. Rogue Legacy

I've heard people talking about 300 or so generations to beat the game (though I have not played it myself.)
  19. 4gb? What the hell is the PS4 doing with 4gb for the OS? A fully functional computer only takes around 1gb.
  20. Steam Trading Card

Yeah, I guess it's a gamble that the folks who want the badges will eventually make up more than half of the population that have played the game and care enough about steam trading cards to sell them. Right now most of the cards I have are going for about a dime, so it's not much of a risk. I guess I see a point in the future where a user who has never played the game before buys and plays it, but there aren't many (or any) cards on the market to complete the set because everyone else has moved on. That also doesn't take into account people trying to craft multiple levels of badges, which could eat away at the supply pretty quickly.
  21. Steam Trading Card

Assuming that sales of a game slope downwards until they are basically zero, and folks that are creating badges stays somewhat near constant (or slopes downwards at a lesser rate) eventually the number of new cards being injected into the system will be less than required for everyone who wants badges to make them. Of course, that all goes out the window if additional card packs drop at a rate faster than they are used up, in which case sales of the game in question don't matter.
  22. I Had A Random Thought...

My friends that I play online with likened me to Eeyore the other day. It seems logical because when I get really mad or furstrated in games I tend to get mopey and passive agressive rather than yelling or swearing. This did not bother me. Now in the last week or so I've been called Eeyore both by a co-worker and real life friend that (as far as I know) have no connections with my online friends and have no way to have heard about the original conversation. Oh bother.
  23. Steam Trading Card

I crafted a couple of badges, finally got a profile background that was all right, and now I'm just going to bide my time and hope the prices on all of these go up. Of the games that I've installed strictly to get cards, I ended up playing one of them (Gratuitous Space Battles) for a decent amount of time and I clicked with it in a way I hadn't before, so that's nice.
  24. Nintendo 3DS

I like Pushmo, but it does start out pretty slow. Also, I've only gotten three sets of puzzles in and haven't played since, so maybe I don't like it as much as I think I do.

My mouse scroll speed is way too slow. I was making between 0.1 and 0.2 meters per second. I wonder what DPI they're assuming to measure the length?
