Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.
Dewar replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
There is room for both types of games. For every person who has more money than time (as I do now) there is a person who has much more time than money (as I was in college.) -
The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS
Dewar replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
From what I've seen on Bloomberg, the A/B stock has taken a major hit since the announcement of the buyout. You could make a case for the buyout to not be in the best intrest of share holders, even if it's a good choice from a creative freedom point of view. -
I agree, the hiring mechanic for the other mercs in your team was the lamest part of the game. Unfortunately, it seems like it's pretty baked into the game and probably isn't going to change for the expansion. Frenetic Pony: I don't know about you, but I royally screwed up on my second visit to Pike Place Market (trying to be somewhat oblique as to not spoil anything) and ended up missing a whole section of that building. It seems to me that the parts when you're alone have some varience to them at least, while the times you're with your team are basically linear shoot-em-ups.

If your vassals like you enough they generally follow along with your vote, unless there's a specific reason to not elect the person in question (really old without a male heir for instance.)

And... done! I enjoyed myself immensely. I only had a couple of glitches, mostly in the final couple of areas, and nothing that I couldn't work around by reading the steam forums a bit. I'm already looking forward to the Berlin campaign, and I just preordered the Shadowrun 5th edition PDF.

Dead Island fails to live up to its name and is in fact alive
Dewar replied to Thrik's topic in Video Gaming
I think what made the game bad for me was how promising the first area was and then how badly it fell apart after that. Also, I was expecting the world to be a little more dynamic. -
My other forum is losing its home and no one else has stepped up and offered to host something, so I guess I'm it. We're fairly small (no more than 100 users) so I just need a simple place that where I can stand up a phpbb board with as little fuss as possible. In fact, if the hosting site already has something like that pre-setup that would be great. I really want to avoid having ads, or I'd go to one of those free hosting sites. Anyone have any experience or ideas that can help me?

I just confirmed this is not so. Trying to find someone with the highest stewardship possible revealed a commoner with 2 higher stewardship than anything the marriage finder was giving me. She would have said yes in the diplomacy dialog. Same religion, different culture.

Not woth it, in my humble opinion. Though if you got a group together and everyone promised to play together and not level up without you, it might be all right. Edit: Not that the other things in that bundle wouldn't be worth it. SR3 for life. -
I enjoyed playing one of the dukes of Norway and fighting for my independence. I think that's a quite often under-appreciated bit of gameplay, not being the head of the country so you have to undermine it from inside and eventually take the throne yourself. The north west part of the map is typcially the easier bit since you don't have to deal with Muslims from the south or the invading Golden Horde from the east. That being said, I think there was a list of recommended beginner starts a couple of pages back.

When you die, you will play the person in your bloodline (signified with the tear drop of blood on the portrait) who inherrits the largest chunk of your current lands. Being eligible to be voted in a country requires one of these: All (gender-law allowed) dynastic children, grandchildren, siblings, nephews and nieces of the current title holder. If any of these don't belong to your dynasty, they won't be eligible, unless they are landed inside your realm, All current electors (including dejure and foreign ones), Any claim holder on that specific title. Counts aren't electors, only dukes are, so that's why giving him that county didn't change his situation, but you shouldn't have to give him any land at all since he is a dynastic son. Unless, is he maybe your step-son, or a bastard? Edit: There's no need to monkey with the dutchy anymore. Breaking it and recreating it might change what the regular dutchy display says but, in general, it's the dejure display that matters. Because having the dutchy instantly gives you claims over any dejure counties you don't own, Kingdoms tend to split along the dejure dutchy lines anyway. If that one county you're missing is independant, you should consider offering them vasalage. If it belongs to a larger kingdom, be prepared to fight over that area as they might come looking for that dutchy title.

Ah, so they tackle it in cutscenes, but not actual gameplay. Interesting choice.
-
Wait what? I've never had any problem taxing my vassals. Nappi. When you create the dutchy, any county that is a dejure part of that dutchy is included, regardless of who owns it. In fact, creating that dutchy gives you a claim on any county that's in the dutchy that you don't already own. No reconstruction of dutchies is required once you claim that county.

I think the fact that you're thinking about these questions puts you a step ahead of the average populous already.

Really, the Giant Bomb video with the devs implied that they were taking on the racial and sexist issues of the 60s.

Grab some guns from the golden key box and things get a lot easier. Too easy if you ask me. -
I was not a fan of the sailing bits in Wind Waker. In the end, I wasn't a fan of the game at all though, so my opinion might be void.

I hate playing Jedi in video games or pen and paper RPGs. Either their force powers are so weak that it just feels dumb, or so powerful that the rest of the mechanics of the game don't really matter.

There are tons of people out there with more money than time. Heck, I'm already bordering on that and I don't make a ton. At least they're spending the money instead of holding on to it I guess.

3 games in 4 days! Today I beat Batman: Arkham City. I've still got a couple side quests I want to do before I put the game aside for good, but I'm pretty happy with the Batman experience. Unfortunately, I wasn't so happy with the Catwoman stuff. I realize that it was a tack-on for pre-orders and whatnot, but I found pretty much every moment with her super frustrating and clunky. Overall, still a great game, but not quite as good as Arkham Asylum was.

I disagree. The automatic bride finder tends to balance possible alliances over stats, and generally doesn't pick wives from kingdoms that are far away or different cultures. I generaly am able to grab a wive with a 20+ in at least one stat by manually browsing.

Nothing is stopping you from swapping back to the old card if everything goes horrible.
