  1. Batman Origins

I don't want to see Batman's origin story in a movie again, why would I want to play it in a video game? In all seriousness, Arkham Asylum was my game of the year, but Arkham City ended up being so-so for me (besides a couple of really cool story points that I was really into.) I think I'm going to perserve my memory of the first game and skip this one.
  2. PS Vita

I didn't even know there was a new model of Vita. Anything else different about it besides the charger and colors?
  3. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I beat the boss of the Depths twice yesterday. I threw down a summoning sign and went in as a shade the first time. I felt bad because I was kinda getting in the way on the way to the boss, but I proved my worth when we got there by doing about 3/4 of the damage in the final fight. I also got to see that there was an NPC summon in the area. Second time through (this time in a real body) I summoned both another Player and an NPC. We trashed the boss pretty dang quick. I'm getting comfortable running around as a human now, despite the occasional invasions which are basically instant death. So far, I've been invaded 4 times and lost each, though one of those times the red shade was nice enough to drop ten titanite, let me pick them up, then stabbed me when I was waving thanks. It was a net gain at least. Edit: After hearing how easy it is to miss the covenants, I decided to look at a wiki and see what they are. I'm really sad that none of them will really benefit my sorcerer/rapier playstyle very much, but it is making me kinda want to start again as a Faith character. It seems almost unfair how many perks they can get.
  4. Ug, I'm glad I didn't pick it up then. Paradox is wierd because of the way they want to model things realistically happen basically puts a straight jacket on any sort of player choice. I remember quitting Hearts of Iron because I was playing as Germany and decided to help Italy actually take some land, but when we hit a certain number of providences taken, some sort of wierd treaty event scrambled everything around and made most of my efforts worthless. I started to go into the code to try and deactivate a bunch of those random events, but I eventually gave up and just shut it off. Strangely, that's been the hugest pain in Crusader Kings as well. I don't understand why so many viking decide they want to raise a host and come all the way down to Georgia to stir up shit. At one point I was targeted by two Viking raids and a Succession host all in the same time period, in Georgia for gods sake.
  5. I wonder if the AI has to operate under the same restrictions, or if the added penalties are a player only thing.
  6. X Rebirth

It's a month until Rebirth releases I'm so excited.
  7. Galactic Civilisations II

I'll just put this here.... http://galciv3.com/
  8. Crusader K+ngs II

Also, if you're wanting a different culture or religion for some reason.
  9. Pokémon X and Y

I'm not sure about X and Y, but Black had tons of things to do after the Elite 4: Go through N's castle and have the "final" showdown Catch pokémon from older games Fight various trainers around Unova, all of whom have pokémon at level 60-65. Re-fight the Gym leaders with higher level pokemon Visit White Forest or Black City Dive for treasure using the new HM Find the Six Sages (I don't even know what this means) And I think there were a couple of Challenge areas you could go into and have endless fights?
  10. Beyond: Two Souls

Oof, I was watching the Giant Bomb quicklook today and man those controls looked pretty janky.
  11. Crusader K+ngs II

I also tend to breed for high diplomacy, unless there just aren't any good wives out there. then I'll go for stewardship or intrigue.
  12. Pokémon X and Y

The recent games have made it pretty easy to get to the Elite Four. The game doesn't really get difficult until you fight them, and then continue on after.
  13. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

You'll love this. I never found the path down to the lower area with the mute lady at the Firelink shrine, so I missed out on the sun medal that you get from releasing the guy up in the chuch, and was completely mistified when the Firelink shrine stopped working. The fact that this triggered because I went into the blight so early is really messing up my game right now. I also missed talking to the head cleric lady because everyone told me not to approach her looking like I did, so I had to run back to the Blacksmith to stop at a bonfire and get turned back to human. She was gone before I got back. Stupid Lautrec.
  14. Spacebase!

Oh hey, I think I remember seeing this a while ago. Edit: Hmm, looks like I was thinking of a competitor. I'll take something from DF over any other Kickstarter project anytime.
  15. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Indeed, I have three different versions of the magic arrow, so I was cheesing the drakes and the big angry suits of armor pretty hard. I also killed the butterfly, despite being weak enough that one hit did me in every time. Last night, I finally killed the Capra demon. I think that might have been the hardest boss fight so far for me, just because of the tight space you have to work with. The Depths has been pretty easy compared to that, for sure. My problem is once I hit about 10k in souls I chicken out and back my way out of the area. Bonfires are pretty scarce in these areas. Edit: It's especially annoying going into the Depths without the Firelink Shrine bonfire. Edit 2: Dang it, the bonfire was right there behind a locked door that I now have the key for. Oh well, at least it'll be easy peasy tonight.
  16. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I actually made it to Blight Town through Valley of Drakes, but I got really deep into there from that entrance without a bonfire, so I chickened out to keep my souls. I had no idea until a few days ago taking a quick glance at the recomended path that the gardens were so far ahead of the curve. Yay for Great Heavy Soul Arrow I guess.
  17. Interesting. I don't have much of a history with the Thief games, but I did buy Thief 2 on Steam. This might be a good primer for that.
  18. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I've done some stuff out of order here and there since I skipped the Capra Demon, but I guess I'm supposed to be going to blight town now. I feel like I've made a ton of progress, but I guess I'm only a 1/3 of the way through the game? Edit: I guess I've done a good section of the Darkroot areas and the Valley of Drakes, which explains why I've taken so long to get only a few steps into the thing. I guess I should try to take on the Capra Demon and get to the depths again.
  19. Beyond: Two Souls

I'm not sure if I agree with a lot that's written in that article, but I kinda get where he's coming from I guess. The four bolded "rules" don't have a lot to do with the problems that he's describing after.
  20. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

My Wife (who is the mayor) hasn't been playing very much and now she bought Pokemon. I guess my time in this game is pretty much over unless I get my own 3DS.
  21. Space Hulk

I missed the sale on this, but I'm cautiously interested.
  22. It's Halloween!

Or paint faces on them, and then you can still cook them and eat them later. Decorations almost complete. I got a second set of black lights to go with my white reapers and skulls. I'm thinking of cooking a brisket for the party, make a pulled beef sort of a thing since I'm not a fan of pork.
  23. I Had A Random Thought...

I try to actually vary my tips depending on service. I've been in a few places with poor service and I'm not shy tipping around 10%. I'm also not shy tipping 20% for good services or at places that I go to often.
  24. The Stanley Parable

Saw the video of this when Patrick Klepek played it on Worth Playing. There were significant portions near the end of the demo that were different at PAX, so that's cool that we got to see a little exclusive content. I keep going back and forth on this one.
  25. Recently completed video games

This weekend I beat Renegade Ops and Half Minute Hero, both on XBLA. Half minute hero is really fun, with an interesting sense of humor. It's fairly short, but there are several forks in the story where you can see different missions as well as several optional goals in each level to go back for. I forget how much I paid for it, but I think it's worth the $10 it costs on XBL right now. Renegade Ops... I dunno. I hear a lot of people talking about how cool it is, but it feels pretty meh to me. I had a hard time controlling my car which was all right most of the time, but then there's a few sections that require some real percision driving that I just couldn't manage. On top of that, running out of lives means starting the same 30 minute mission all over again and, most frustratingly, it pops a time limit on you sometimes that also sends you back to the start even if you have lives left. I didn't get to play much of it in multiplayer, but it seems like it would be a lot more entertaining that wall. I'd say don't buy unless you've got someone to play with.
