I haven't made it to the center of the galaxy yet. Maybe I'll become a double-god at that point?

... yes? Maybe? The game doesn't end immediately.

Just picked up a plan for a server for the next three months. Once I play around with configuring it, I'll post the info in the multiplayer forum. I'll also be sharing it with fellow fans of a European podcast called "How to Murder Time" so hopefully we'll have enough people to make it interesting.

I think I finished the Atlas path tonight? Strange things happened, but not as strange as I'd hoped.

Overwatch - That time Blizzard made a non-Diablocraft game.

I'm really impressed at how "realistic" and robotic the little animations are, especially when it first stands up. -
The weird pop-in and bad anti-aliasing are starting to get to me. I feel like this game should be so pretty, but it isn't.

Whatever is going on with the Atlas is creepy and I want to follow that to the end. I have yet to understand one word it's saying, despite having picked up a few Atlas words here and there. Edit: I'm a bit stuck right now. i need a larger ship, since most of my ship is taken up by artifacts I need to hold onto. Because of that, I don't want to refuel my warp core since that will all be lost on a ship swap, so I've also got a cargo hold full of warp fuel. All that cargo being used up makes it take longer to make money, which delays the ship swap, which means my cargo remains full. I've been hopping around hoping I'll just find a crashed ship that's big enough so I can save my money for more suit upgrades.

I made it to space. I melted down every plasteel weapon I had, dissembled any buildings I made with it, and finally a bulk trader came by and I was able to buy another 400 plasteel off of them. I'm a bit dissapointed that you can't load pets on unless they're been injured. I got a few on here and there that were hurt during raider attacks, but had to leave some behind as well I never really felt like I got a good handle on what to do about raids. They always seemed to come at strange angles every single time, so I was never able to really lay down any static defenses that were worth much. In the end, it was mostly just me hiding behind trees with 2/3rds of my colonists and hoping that I shot them before they shot me. That definitely got old toward the end of the game.

Yeah, i didn't know you could even force a certain process to always launch at anything other than normal. The weird thing is that I barely noticed any difference in playing the game, but everything else on my machine (including vital-ish things like my raid driver and nvidia control panel) stopped coughing and dying.

I'm vaguely considering paying for a multiplayer server for a while. Would that interest anyone around here?

Stellaris: Iron Victoria Europa Kings in space!
Dewar replied to Cordeos's topic in Strategy Game Discussion
A friend of mine jumped back in after seeing a streamer playing, and downloaded a Star Trek full rebuild mod. I forget exactly what it's called, but it's near the top on the steam workshop and shouldn't be too hard to find. So far, it looks pretty cool. -
So I just found out a few days ago that there's actually a victory condition in Rimworld. That's cool. I've run out of research on my Cassandra-Basebuilder play, so I thought I'd try to build the spaceship. It turns out my map barely has any plasteel. Even opening up the ancient evil and killing everything in there only got me half way to building a power core. I guess at this point I have to wait for traders to come by or more mechanoid drop pods.

Hmm, it's been a while since I played Starbound. There wasn't really a way to teleport around before, so as you ventured further from home it would cost more and more fuel to get back. Eventually I just started harvesting food on each planet as I went.

That's the exact situation I ran into. Check my process priority note pasted here from the page.

I don't understand why base building matters at all, since you're moving from plane to planet all the time. Much the same way that building a base doesn't matter much in Starbound either, because you're not on a planet long enough to really get much of a use out of a base because individual planets are rarely interesting enough to be worth hanging around.

Overwatch - That time Blizzard made a non-Diablocraft game.
Dewar replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
I've only gotten two packs of 10. My wife, on the other hand.... Edit: Had a great night of Overwatch Sunday night, went like 12 and 2, then playing with the same crew tonight got our butts royally stomped and went 2-8 or so before giving up. Very few of these matches, whether lost or won, were close at all. I'm not sure why this happens but it's frustrating. -
After I bought and liked the first episode, I made the conscious decision to buy each episode as it came to speak with my money and prove that I could stay interested each month, as well as give the developers a little extra change since I wasn't getting the package discount. So that makes me extra sad that I made the move I thought would help, and then got punished for it.

Meh, still feeling disappointed and a bit robbed about the bonus missions. Don't think I'll be buying anymore, but strangely also don't want to have them spoiled in case a sale comes up or something, so I guess it'll be the end of me watching the coverage too.

Interesting, they don't want you to concentrate on your skill rating number, but they are giving end-of-season rewards based on your skill rating number -
Performance is definitely CPU bound, not video card. I have a 970 and it's barely heating up, but my fairly nice i5 is constantly pegged.

Attack boars on fire off the shoulder of a potato field - Rimworld seeded start
Dewar replied to dibs's topic in Video Gaming
Yeah, i think the intention is for everyone to play at the same difficulty, though if you don't die like the rest of us, it might be worth cranking it up until you fail spectacularly. -
In about 30 planets, I've only seen three creatures significantly bigger than me. A bear that I could stand under and it's stomach was just above my head, A horse lizard thing about two stories tall, and a flying snake thing that looked to be about 50 feet long at a distance (also carnivorous, so I didn't get any closer.) The animation quality is the main disappointment when I compare to that old trailer. Nothing in the actual game seems actually aware of it's environment, and the animation cycles for most things seem pretty similar between each other. I've also yet to find a planet that has as much vegetation as I've seen in screen shots, so it's been a lot of creatures inexplicably hopping around hills of rock with a few fungi/trees dotted here and there. *shrug* But how are you going to know a cool planet unless you see a bunch of crappy ones? Edit: I probably should have posted this earlier, but I was having all sorts of problems streaming video and other critical applications on PC hitching and breaking when No Man's Sky was running. I noticed over the weekend that the NMS.exe process is set to Above Normal priority in task manager. While I'm sure they must exist, I've never seen another program set itself to anything but normal by default before. When I switched to Below Normal (In Win10 you can do it from Task Manager > Details Tab > Right Click NMS.exe) the performance of everything else on the PC improved a ton, with a barely noticeable effect on NMS itself.

The Diller Room is right next to my work. Drinks are a bit expensive, but are quality. Only small food plates, but also quality. I will be there.
