I think I say "beat" when it's a difficult game like Dark Souls, but I tend to say "finished" for more atmospheric story-telling games like Gone Home.

Walking Dead, Mark of the Ninja, Bioshock 2, The Cave vets form Campo Santo

I'd like to think that some part of that process involved a real spear gun. -
I like the Finnish/Swedish/Norwegan way of looking at it. They all imply kinda wandering around and experiencing what the game has to offer, like a tourist seeing a new country.

C# and Java are close enough to each other that whatever you choose, it will be fairly easy to change your mind later. I like C#, but I have history in C (including learning XNA) so that helps.

Yup.

I don't think most free to play games are preying on ignorance though. You know exactly what you're getting when you buy it.

Ah, I didn't realize there were groups to join, thanks a bunch.

Hmm, so if I were invited to the streaming beta, or any other Steam beta really (family sharing would be nice) where would that information be located?

I can't blame them, I thought it was too quirky as well. At some level though, I trust DF to make something interesting out of all of these pitches.

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS

All of the people who have sensible discourse to provide are gun-shy once the group gets to a certain size I think. -
Hmm, maybe I'm dim, but I can't figure out how to actually join the group.

Interesting, I wonder if there's a fish that's smart enough to understand what's going on.

Most everyone I know just went to play Skyrim instead, though apparently the queues to get in to ESO are more than an hour long so someone's playing.

What's that term they use for the WiiU where the guy with the pad is playing a much different game than the folks with the controllers? It's not asynchronous... Well anyway, it could make for a really interesting multiplayer game where one person controls the town and someone else controls the marines.

The Other Paradox Games (Europa Universalis, Victoria, Hearts of Iron)

I would recommend against having your first game as a sub-saharan country. I saw all the cool stuff they added for Native Americans and figured that those same features would be available for natives elsewhere. Not so, you're stuck seeing all these options but aren't allowed to actually pick anything. They get all these huge penalties, but nothing good to offset them. It was a complete snore-fest. -
That's a really interesting article. Good writting too.

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Only other advise I can give is to go in there without any intention of actually damaging him and just practice dodging. There are definite tells that reveal if he's going to do a horizontal or vertical swing, and you can get some sense of what triggers him to go for multiple swings as well. Personally, I used a lot of sorceries, so the rest of my advice isn't really applicable to someone who's trying to do most of their damage with a weapon. -
Yay, Ether and Derelict!

No live streams at work. Which were the finalists?

I don't get why he wouldn't just delete his twitter account and move on rather than deleting the game wholesale. -
There's a big selection of various vinegrettes out there. I'd say try a bunch of them until you find one you like, then try to duplicate it?

A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes

Enterprise is awesome. It has some of the same themes as Voyager what with being out there pretty much alone, but it executes them a lot better I think.
