Hmm, if decadence revolts for the CPU had any real long-term effect, they might be able to make a powerful country like that actually realistically collapse.

I completed King's Bounty: The Legend on Monday. This game pretty much gives me everything I wanted out of Heroes of Might and Magic. It's the combat sections from HoM&M, stiched together with a real time RPG framework instead of the kinda lame city-building stuff. I had a lot of fun, but boy is it long. I've noticed that I have quite a few 1C published games that I've collected over the years, and they all seem to suffer from this flaw. At some point, I just wanted it to end, which is sad for a game that I was enjoying so much at the start. Regardless, it's worth checking out if you're interested in that sort of thing.

Hmm, I haven't tried it since a few weeks after it was first available for purchase, but I was under the impression it had a long way to go before it was fun. I guess I'll wait for 1.0 and see what there is to see.

My wife got fired from her work yesterday, due to accidental safety violations (leaving gas in items that are being shipped back for repair.) She was only part time so while it sucks to lose the extra money, it's certainly nothing we can't handle. What I realized though is that I really suck at consoling her. In the past with other friends, I've always had "your boss sucked" or "that's BS that you got laid off due to politics" to fall back on, but I don't even really know what to say here. Thankfully, she seems to be taking it well as she's talked about trying to get out of there for a while, but it's frustrating for me to not really be able to do or say much useful about it.

*sigh* Both this and Mechwarrior Tactics had such potential but managed to be so boring.

How about Black Sheep (2006) and Reanimator? I guess those are pretty telling of my preference in horror movies. I'd be interested if anyone had any horror game ideas that fall on the more campy/silly side of things rather than the scary side of things. I'm a wimp.

Ha, I read the wiki article on it last night and somehow completely missed the first line that says it's a mission added by Enemy Within. That explains a lot.

That's a good point, so I guess a better comparison would be Dominion, which unfortunately means that the point still stands. I was hoping to run a game of this over the weekend, but we ended up sticking mostly to Nidhogg, Starwahl, Sports Friends, Towerfall, Gangbeasts, and Mount Your Friends. Maybe I'll get the chance the weekend after next. We know a couple that's into board games and Shadowrun so it seems a natural fit.

Hmm, so despite beating this on Xbox when it first came out, I apparently competely forgot that one of the later story missions is...

Oh, I thought we were talking about the Gorilla and I was thoroughly confused.

GalCiv 3 is coming soon. I had a lot of fun with GalCiv 2, but I haven't tried the new one yet.

Cracked is completely blocked for me at work for quite a long list of different reasons, so that's how I feel about it I guess.

The Other Paradox Games (Europa Universalis, Victoria, Hearts of Iron)

Nope. EU4 is structured around being very careful who your allies are because they can dump a world of hurt on you. -

It's a completely seperate story that barely relies on the rest of the series at all. I found the story much more touching than anything in the rest of the Bioshock games, but I don't think that the actual story telling style differs much from the original Bioshock. It's also a microcosm of Bioshock 2, giving you a lot of the same weapons and upgrades but at a much quicker pace to finish up in a couple of hours, where Bioshock 2 took way too long to say very little. -

Hmm, I happen to have that signature on a "Welcome to Wyoming" promotional postcard given away at PAX I need to take it and get it framed. -
I got to play a game of Shadowrun: Crossfire at PAX and subsequently bought the game. It's a fairly interesting co-op game for 2-4 players where you each play a runner on a team trying to escape from a completed run. There are several different missions and a bunch of characters to play, as well as an on-going karma/character leveling up system that gives you rewards for playing repeatedly and allowing you to advance to more difficult missions. It seems like a game that could be supported really well with expansion packs (there's already a character expansion and a mission expansion is upcoming.) I do have too worries about it though. First off, the cards (this is an almost entirely card-based game) don't seem like they were made with very good stock. When I can get something like Cards Against Humanity with 200 nice cards for $20, the it feels like 300 smaller cards in this should be at least as good quality for $60. Second, I'm never sure if Catalyst is just going to screw this up. I don't have the best confidence in them as a company.

I finished Uncharted 2 during my vacation week. While I have the same problems with it as it's predecessor (poor signposting during climbing bits and so much killing) it was much smoother than the first. I was going to start into Uncharted 3, but I needed a break so I started Last of Us instead... which really isn't much of a break since it was made by the same company *shrug* You can't really beat it, but I finally made it through winter in Don't Starve as well. I never really got into it much when I first played, but I've really been sucked in now. I can't wait until Don't Starve Together comes out. Finally, I beat 80 Days when I was at PAX. I talked about it a little in the iOS thread, so I'll just say this is exactly what I want out of an iOS game.

I bought 80 days to play at PAX. I managed the trip with 8 hours to spare on my first try, despite Cholera, being robbed by Jesse James, and getting caught up in a rebel plot to steal a steam shovel. Well worth the price, now my wife is playing it

They mentioned in one of the panels that you'd play through a day, then get a "two weeks later" sort of thing and that the game takes place over the course of one fire season. -
That royal rumble thing was ridiculous. Unfortunately, everyone pretty much wanted to be a heel so with all the turns in the middle it ended up with Dave Lang, John Drake, and Dr. Tracksuit all just destroying people as allies for a while before they realized they should probably lose so the main event was better. I really want to get one of those Run GFB shirts though. Edit: And no drama that I'm aware of, plus a pretty cool (if a bit small) diversity lounge thing right in the path of traffic for the 6th floor part of the expo hall. Also, some pretty good new language in the harassment policies, including filling out reports and such.

It looks pretty awesome folks.

I thought there already was a distance from capital penalty built in. Maybe that was only in older versions of Civ.
