  1. My only real problem with Candy Crush is that in certain areas the way candy drops are random, which hurts my brain since I'm used to playing three moves ahead due to Puzzle Quest.
  2. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Hmm, I put a bunch of time into this (8 hours) and it's starting to feel a bit samey. I've pretty much emptied out my entire Nemesis display now that I finally managed to get Orkinson the Whiney to stay dead. I'm not saying I don't die, but I'm certainly killing 3-4 Uruks per life, meaning that it's just not keeping up with me. I get the feeling I'm about to hit a story hump, so hopefully it gets more challenging after that. Edit: I should mention that "The Whiney" was his real title even if I can't remember what his first name was.
  3. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Yeah, it's pretty intense on the video card. I have an ATI 7000 series with 2gb of video memory and I auto-detected down to mostly medium and low settings.
  4. The Banner Saga

Oooh, that might be a good game to pick up on my iPad Mini for bus trips.
  5. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

The framerate difference looked fairly obvious on the Giant Bomb Quicklook, but that might have just been the level they were in or something up with the capture rig I guess.
  6. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

Nice, this is sounding more like an Elite game every day.
  7. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Ah, the magic of the future. Bought this on GMG, logged in on the copy of Steam on my crappy tablet to redeem the code, used the website to start the download on my home machine, and it was ready by the time I got off work I played two hours. I really like it. I've died about 5 times, 3 times to those damn caragores, once to a named orc, and once to an unnamed orc that then got a name when he took me out. Right at this moment, I'm killing guys too fast for the intel to mean much, but I suspect when the game gets harder that stuff will be more valuable. One thing that ended up being really nice is that dropped runes stay on the map and can be picked up later. I ambushed a captain in the middle of a stronghold, took him out, but an alarm got raised in the process. I ended up getting killed in a sea of 30 or so orcs just trying to get to the rune to pick it up, when I could have just taken off and come back to get it later.
  8. HOWL O'WEEN (Halloween)

Scorpion wears a My Little Pony shirt? This is a pretty funny image regardless if you're talking the MK character or the armored bug.
  9. Life

At PAX that would be grounds for confiscation of scabbards or removal from the show entirely.
  10. Euro Truck Simulator 2

Oh nice, last I checked it was still in a pretty rough state. I'll have to take a look.
  11. Euro Truck Simulator 2

This is currently my "play it for a few minutes before bed" game. I've only got about 5 hours in it so far. I'm pretty close to completely paying off my truck so I can get a loan and get a buddy to help me. I'm interested to see the Scandinavia expansion.
  12. Recently completed video games

That's probably a positive on the whole, much better than impulse purchasing.
  13. Sports

I like hard fought defensive games with lots of fumbles, interceptions, sacks, etc.
  14. I Had A Random Thought...

Hmm, people like to punch shitty wizards I guess.
  15. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Man, this just shows that these folks are confused and probably in need of some mental help. Who is "they" in this sentence? These folks actually believe that there is some sort of motivated anti-gamer group out there. It's sad. I've stopped being angry and just feel pitty. I can't imagine what it must be like to believe the whole world is against you all the time.
  16. I Had A Random Thought...

Hmm, it feels like the the sentence is cut short. "The photon excites the election, which in turn de-excites." Could also be written as "The photon excites the electron. The electron de-excites." "The electron de-excites." isn't an incomplete sentence, but it sure doesn't have a lot of information in it. Maybe try something like "The photon excites the election, which in turn de-excites and emits light." Also, optional commas around "in turn." I've always used them, but apparently they're like the Oxford comma, some people use it and others don't.
  17. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Frankly, I could never wrap my head around all the hot keys to use gadgets mid combat in Arkham anyway, so that sounds good to me.
  18. Fez

Yeah, I got two of them so I understand the system, just need to find the other two. On the plus side, apparently there are hints in one of those small rooms with the papers all over the wall. Hopefully that will be enough so I can say I found all 32 regular cubes without needing a full on walkthrough, even if I needed a hint. Really, I should revisit all those rooms anyway and see if I can find any more anticubes.
  19. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Additional to that, if an orc kills you, he gets a promotion and new traits. That means that if you lose to a guy once, he gets more and more powerful and provides a goal that feels a lot more personal than following the basic story. I think I'm going to have to get this. I wish I'd gotten in on that GMG deal. Edit: Anyone on the fence, GMG's October code is out and covers Shadows of Mordor as well. OCTOBE-R25OFF-GMGXXX Edit2: This might be a good time to try out Steam's remote play. Edit3: I have made poor financial decisions.
  20. Fez

I can't find a single cube bit on the map anywhere, that's what's confusing me. Edit: A 3 second glance at a forum thread indicates I need to get into the room past the owls. I'm not relishing searching the whole map over again. I might just look it up, but it kinda sucks to be so close to finished on my own just to have to look up the last bit.
  21. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I've never even heard the term hood rat before.
  22. Fez

So, I'm finally playing this for the first time, fairly free of spoilers besides a few hints I've picked up from podcasts and such. I've managed to get every single cube except one little bit hiding in a corner somewhere, and around 20 of the anticubes. I've figured out... At the moment though, what's really bothering me is that last cube bit. I've looked around the map pretty thoroughly. There are no cube bit symbols left, and the only unexplored rooms are past secrets (which I think only ever have anticubes behind them.) Those three rooms are... Without giving too many details, is the last cube bit behind one of those doors somehow? If not, anyone have any tips on scouring the map? I'd like to say I at least got all the regular cubes without having to resort to help.
  23. Life

Ah, sorry, I'm not familiar with that. The most we have around here are single day courses that take the place of searching for jobs for that week as far as unemployment eligibility goes.
  24. The Sims: 2014

The original Sims was one of my guilty pleasures when I'd come back from college and hang with my friend who's younger sister got it for Christmas. During one of the recent sales, I bought The Sims 3 and it just didn't live up to my misguided nostalgia of the original. And now, The Sims 4, all the rage on Youtube for a week, then quietly gone from the public eye. Now that the shine has worn off, is anyone still playing? Is it worth the money? Edit: Dang, I forgot what subforum I was in. Can a mod move this to the video games section when they get the chance. Sorry.
  25. Life

Well if it's free there's no reason you couldn't dump it if it doesn't line up with your goals, right?
