  1. Civilisation 6

It's combo of Wardel's GamerGate leanings, and the abundance of expensive DLC that adds basic functionality to GalCiv3 that was present by default in GalCiv2. They've had several less-than-successful products since GalCiv2, so it feels like they might be under the gun to make profit this time around. Honestly, I haven't seen anything one way or the other about the AI itself.
  2. Tyranny, RPG by Obsidian

Oooh, you had me at "shorter RPG"
  3. There's a game called Totally Accurate Battle Simulator that Markiplier has done a few videos of. As you can probably tell from the name, it's mostly a comedy game and It's not of the scale you're talking about here, but it might be worth looking at for inspiration/things to avoid.
  4. There's a Stellaris mod on Steam that's reasonably full featured for a few of the races.
  5. Civilisation 6

Yes, and he wrote great blog posts back in the GalCiv 2 days about AI design and such.
  6. Analogue: A Great Story

Ooh, is it complete, or just out in beta/early access? My wife seemed really interested in playing it when we saw it at PAX last year.
  7. Civilisation 6

I really wish more developers prioritized AI. That's why I liked Stardock so much, the head guy was an AI programmer so he thought about those things. Shame about Brad Wardell's politics and the general pile of crap that GalCiv 3 ended up being.
  8. Civilisation 6

I was really disappointed by Civ5. Until then I bought them all at release since Civ2.
  9. Civilisation 6

I've been having fun playing Civiliation: Beyond Earth. I think I'm into the idea of buying these a year late from now on.
  10. HOWL O'WEEN (Halloween)

I've got a nice ruffled shirt and velvet cape that I'm putting together into a Shakespearean kind of thing, and I'm getting a private room at a gamer bar near here so that I can do my party right again. It's been a few years since I've been able to throw a really big bash.
  11. Yes, PC and XB1 can cross-play, though chat can be weird sometimes. I've gotten back into Guild Wars 2 in a big way, so I haven't been putting a ton of time into Forza, also Gears of War 4 comes out tomorrow, but I hope to get a few hours in here and there over the next week.
  12. I'm D3war on XBL. I've mostly been playing on PC.
  13. I would agree in non-rpg games, but these days RPG mechanics creep into almost every game. If I don't have a health bar to look at, then I understand absolutely nothing about what this sword upgrade does.
  14. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I finally modded out the weight limit in Witcher 2. Much like Fallout, they fill the world with tons of things to pickup and don't give you room to carry near enough of them. Unlike Fallout, it's not immediately obvious what things are good/rare and what things aren't, which makes it doubly frustrating.
  15. The Next President

    I guess I'm more saying that I can't believe that it's allowed.
  16. Star Trek Online

I haven't played in some time, so I haven't seen any of the TOS story stuff yet.
  17. The Next President

I can't believe that no one has filled that 9th slot in the supreme court yet.
  18. I mean that's the Fallout ending right? It seems like I've seen a lot of games with that type of ending, some better than others.
  19. Life

I too unfairly blame myself for things. Recently, this has been the most obvious in Overwatch, where I take it as a personal failing every time we lose a competitive match. I also have a lot in common with Mike from Penny Arcade who has talked on their podcast about feeling if he can just work harder, do more, accomplish everything, he can stay ahead of the depression. I've been going to counseling for just over a year. I went in refusing to even talk about medication, but as I feel myself slipping back down into depression, I've admitted I need some more help and we're going to look into prescription options.
  20. I love numbers in video games, but then I had both a Math and Physics minor in college so I'm weird like that. At the same time, the weird abstracted numbers that we get these days are horribly useless. At least for "10% more damange" you can take a look at how many hits it takes to kill something then assume it'll be about 10% less, but what does 10% more accurate mean or, even worse, +5 accuracy.
  21. I had to upgrade to the newest for Forza, and I haven't noticed any problems. However, i finally just got rid of the Nvidia tray icon, since it was always saying I needed an update even when I didn't.
  22. I played something like 5 hours yesterday, and still haven't unlocked the club stuff. It's so very annoying.
  23. Elite: Dangerous (Kickstarter)

It is one big server, but it basically has different phases that decide what other ships you see. Economic, political, and event changes and stats are still collected among everyone playing.
  24. Well something is still working on my brain chemicals, because all I can think of at work is playing more Forza, or looking up forum posts about Forza.
  25. Oh, that's awesome. When I saw the old style podcast posted on the 23rd, I figured it would be months before we got the new one.
