Idle Thumbs 184: Super Pools 'n' Ghosts
Dewar replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
That's a pretty accurate drawing based on just what you heard on the podcast. The bottom of the chip just needs to be a little more pointy I can't draw, but what impresses me is the ability to picture what others are saying like that. My imagination tends to be in text I guess. -
All I've done is waste gas and accept one mission that turns out was a donation mission that I couldn't afford to fill, so I plan on starting over regardless.

How much did watching those videos help you with Tesla Effect? I can't decide if I want to go back and play most of the old ones, or watch them, or just jump in to the new one.
-
When I was playing with a set friends group, it performed very well, but random matchmaking has performed about like you're seeing.

Arctic Circle, go club some seals.

I don't have the Bounty Hunter start, just the basic, but I'll reset my save tonight and take a look at that display again and see if I can figure it out. The tutorials are really great at teaching you piloting, but not so great at teaching you what all the different screens are really telling you. Edit: Badfinger, I believe the stored ships display was inside the shipyard option of station services?

Hmm, I had considered this for a while, but I'd heard that it really breaks down after a few hours of play. How much time did you put into it if I might ask? Also, keep in mind we probably still have a Christmas Steam sale coming, so there might be another shot at the discount.

There are a couple of folks in my camp that you can talk to that aren't specifically called out on the map. One argued with me about whether Logain was justified in walking away from the fight at the beginning of DA:O. I'm not sure if maybe those characters are hold-overs from DA2 or just random NPCs. There's some flavor there, but you do have to dig a bit to get it. Listening to her in both DA:O and DA:I, I'm pretty sure it's the same voice actor but she tuned down the accent some, which I think is a big plus. The Hinterlands is pretty huge, but I feel like I've gotten to do a ton of exploring in the Sword Coast as well. I think the intention is to have three really large zones in the game, a few smaller ones, then a bunch of set piece areas such as Orlais.

I have only the one Eagle according to my ship display, and all the components are loaned so I can't even do the old stand-buy of selling my guns for cargo.
-
Hmm, I'm having a hard time even finding a mission I can do and my 100cr isn't enough to buy any commodities to trade. I am getting pretty good at taking off and landing though.
-
One thing I forgot to ask, I assume there's going to be a character wipe before the game goes live, yes?
-
Two words for you: Testiclular Explosion I've been considering buying it as well.

There's a smaller steam sale running apparently. I own a lot of it, but Risk of Rain is $2.49 for a little while longer, Banished is $7.99, a few other good things on there.

Playing it on normal. I've had my butt handed to me a couple of times, but I've always managed to get out of there with one party member (once against the first rift I closed after the tutorial and once in the spider cave at the sword coast at level 4.) I don't really want to play in tactical mode most of the time, so I'm pretty happy where the difficulty is. Thanks to whomever mentioned the R3 target locking. That gives you the strafe control that I've been needing so badly when playing a shield guy. I could swear I tried R3 before and it didn't do anything, but maybe I just did it at the wrong time or didn't click it hard enough.

Except Secret World offers an in-game browser that actually hits the internet along with mixing in some made-up sites with more information. Technically that all "in game." I prefer when I don't have to look at external sources. Where that breaks down are 80 hour games like Persona where there's no respec and no way I'm going to play through a second time. I just can't risk ruining 60 hours of work by making a mistake like that. Edit: I guess what I'm saying is that every game should have a respec if at all possible.

You can always just control a different character. I setup one of my rogues as a backstabber and I realized that the CPU was never going to do it right, so I started to control her. I've found it a lot more fun.

I wonder how much manure $20 will get you.

The prosecutor, who in general should be doing his best to prosecute everyone (but allegedly isn't in this case,) is basically trying to prove that they have enough evidence to make a go at a real case. So the grand jury isn't so much about proving evidence wrong or right, it's just about showing what you have. I theory, it's to prevent a biased prosecutor from harassing someone with repeated criminal cases until they crumble. People like Jack Thompson who threatened criminal proceedings several times (but didn't actually make good on threats, everything he filed was civil I believe.)
-
Generally, to decide if there is enough evidence to be worth spending the money to attempt to prosecute. In this case, an attempt to pass the blame around for why they aren't going to prosecute.

So I guess no one thought how useless the protection of having them all trapped on an island is if you breed them so they can swim? I guess the same logic follows with JP3 though, so I dunno.

Nothing makes you feel better in Monster Hunter than farming the same stupid (but hard) boss for the 10th time, and finally getting that last bone you need to upgrade your weapon to an overpowered version that does 50% more damage, and then completely rocking the next three boss fights and opening up the next tier of missions.

I guess it depends on how the character was created. If they made a flamboyant white character dominating all the local populace, then realized it might cause PR problems and decided to change up some art and make him Asian so it's OK, that's definitely suspect. If they came up with the character holistically (which it seems like they did,) always intended him to be Asian, and integrated his homeland into the story, then it's just unfortunate advertising. Same thing with Dumbledore really. What made the whole thing feel disingenuous was not that he is a gay character, but more like he was a straight character through most of the books then the author suddenly tacked on "he's gay" to try to appeal to a certain group of fans.
