So I'm playing Pokémon Y right now and man, Pokémon villains are terrifyingly dumb. I mean, they're always dumb, but Team Flare is just weird. They're this total "drink the Kool-Aid" type Scientology-esque cult where the idea is that you give a rich dude all of your money and wear a snazzy red uniform in exchange for being spared when he fires an ancient superweapon to destroy nearly all life as we know it. There's nothing to indicate that the superweapon even exists for 90% of the game, so I guess that all of the Team Flare Grunts must be super gullible. Also I spent most of this game thinking that my Golurk had Iron Fist instead of Klutz. So instead of having a good ability I have one of the worst ones in the game. Okay.

An update for anybody else still playing: a special Vivillon is being distributed through Mystery Gift right now to commemorate 100 million online trades. It has the unique "Fancy" pattern and the unique move "Hold Hands," which seems to do nothing.

That's dumb enough on paper, but a friend showed me this gif of the scene: Video here I had to check multiple sources to confirm that it is in fact real and not a Photoshop, and moreover, that scientist dude is supposed to be holding a real object and not a hologram (apparently he's playing with a blob of an element called, I shit you not, Transformium). I always thought the draw of these movies was that, if literally nothing else, at least the CG was good. This is just stunningly bad. How? How?

I always assumed that Flynn just made the pig for aesthetics, since presumably he can just make whatever the hell he wants out of nothing through computer jesus magic. Plus there's nothing to confirm that eating even does anything in the digital world, since programs only drink anyway.

Did anyone else feel really bad when they heard that Sean was just sitting in the other room? Did he lose the coin toss or what? I know that realistically he was probably working, but I like to imagine him sitting still on a couch listening to everyone in the podcast studio laughing and getting along without him.

So tonight I learned that back in the early sixties, this guy named Eugene Weingand decided to capitalize on his slight resemblance to Peter Lorre and started calling himself "Peter Lorre Jr." and claiming to be the actor's son, which he continued to do both after the real Peter Lorre found out and even after he died. That may be the scummiest thing I've ever heard of.

So I've watched two of the three parts of Tales of Terror and man, Vincent Price looks weird with no moustache in the first one and that second one with Peter Lorre goes on way, way too long.
