I don't get why you're so self-conscious about discussing Spelunky or Mario for multiple episodes, but not for discussing FAR CRY 2 in more episodes than every other game combined.

BLOM totally came to my mind too. As for gameplay, the greatest moment in that trailer for me was realizing that the baseball bat animation was almost certainly meant for combat but being used seamlessly here to show a jerkass twenty-something doing jerkass twenty-something things (I totally remember a coworker friend and I smashing fluorescent bulbs in the dumpster behind Blockbuster when I worked there as a teenager). If my hunch is right, it's one of the smartest things a game can do.

I like the idea of a shadowcast. The hosts would be Sean "Infamous" Vanaman, Nick "Congrats Nick" Breckon, Jake "Computer Games" Rodkin, and of course Patrick "Scoops" Klepek. The timelines diverged when Chris made the decision to rent Far Cry Instincts. In the Shadowcast, Chris never rented it, thus never blowing out his TV speakers. This in turn allowed him to experience the full force of the Hypersonic Effect when he watched the Akira Blu-Ray, which drove him mad. Jake has a robot arm in this universe also.

Just got off the phone. I feel that it went very badly

Thanks all, but I am super nervous for this phone thing and honestly think I'll probably have my claim denied. At least it's something though. Now to sleep and wait eleven hours to hear back from them. Wheeee.

So there's now a record of every complaint the FCC received about The Simpsons from 2010 to 2013. I wish it went back further, but it's still pretty fantastic. If you've ever wondered what sort of people actually complain to the FCC, now you know (spoiler: it's all religious nuts and old people). My single favourite one is the guy who wants The Simpsons to be cancelled and Small Wonders brought back, and DEMANDS that he be given a follow-up to let him know how that's going.

SO X and Y have been out for a while now, and everyone's on relatively even ground since it's easy to get access to the Day Care in this one and Bank's not out yet so we're all stuck with the same pool of Pokémon. Does anyone feel ready to do some competitive battling? Little Cup rules maybe?

I'm so happy that Jake finally got past world 8. Now that that's out of the way, I don't feel bad saying that you can unlock something else by beating each level as both Mario and Luigi and getting to the very top of the flagpole at least once in each stage. It's not as cool as the eight additional worlds. Also, best episode. I lost it when I realized Chris had actually followed through on his plan to stop talking.

I really, really want a Batman Beyond game.

By the way, Cat Eyed Boy has a random character who looks exactly like Ronald Reagan in close-ups.

This may be too personal, but not too long before I left home, my dad stole my computer. I decided to try to find it myself and ended up sneaking around my own house in the dead of night with a flashlight carrying a knife for protection in case he woke up. Even though it was a familiar place it was still one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. Gone Home felt a lot like that.

Good news! I finally got a call back. I have some kind of phone interview with the insurance people tomorrow, and they tell me I should finally have a decision by Friday.

So I've been thinking; would anyone be interested in doing a book club for comics? It would be a way for you jerks to force me to read at least one superhero comic and I, in turn, to make everyone endure at least one Japanese comic from the sixties. The only real issue in my eyes is that comics tend to not be readily available at libraries or digitally. Also there was a sale on manga at my local comic shop so I picked up Cat-Eyed Boy and, as a bonus, grabbed a French edition of The Book of Human Insects that I didn't even know was there.

I finished the campaign today. Let the postgame commence! ...I also got into that fashionable boutique in Lumiose City and jesus fuck is it ever expensive.

At the risk of starting another shitstorm, know what branch of feminism I don't like? Trans-exclusive radical feminism. As in the branch that discriminates against transgender people. I'm only bringing this up because noted anti-LGBT hate group The Pacific Justice Institute flat-out made shit up about a transgender student harassing fellow students last week and got called on their bullshit and noted TERF Cathy Brennan spoke on their behalf.
