Regarding seeing characters in movies and having their book counterparts ruined for you: Remus Lupin from Harry Potter is commonly accepted to have noticeable facial scars because of the way he's depicted in the movies, despite his scars never once being mentioned in the books. It bugs the heck out of me.

I bought Manga Studio 5 for myself tonight. It feels really weird that in the year of our Luigi two thousand and thirteen, I am purchasing software on a physical CD in an actual box that will be mailed to me.

After starting it years ag on the PC and never really getting anywhere, I finally sat down and played Ikachan for the 3DS. I love the deep sea, Metroidvanias, and one-sitting games, so it was all good. That ending is pretty fucking nuts though.

Something to watch out for: there's a scandal going around online multiplayer right now. Someone developed a PC application that reads and displays opponents' teams and decisions. Right now someone's developing a second program to counter it, but until a proper solution gets worked out the ranked servers have been shut down. More info here.

You know, this game isn't as good as I remember. I dunno' if it's just because of the terrible mood I'm in or what, but I think I might hate Wind Waker now. The contextual controls as finnicky as hell, stering Link is oddly cumbersome and it seems way too easy to steer him right off a ledge, the NPCs seem way more annoying than they do charming now, and there's a lot of just terrible video game shit frontloaded onto the first part of the game (tedious stealth sequence; three of the first items you get are bags for holding collectibles). I really hope it's just me.

Also, they almost certainly have some kind of security webcam on them for incidents where they're damaged and need to be retrieved.

I'm so angry and depressed lately and really don't know what to do about it. I had a counselling appointment today, but when I showed up I told them I'd rather not be there and left. I've been trying to book a doctor's appointment since I ran out of antidepressants weeks ago, but I haven't been able to get anyone on the phone in just as long.

SPEAKING OF GAMECUBE I decided to take the plunge and buy Wind Waker HD, since I had some credit from the buying Mario digitally thanks to the Deluxe Digital Promotion. That's still a darn pretty game, but I sure do hate swinging on the lamps in the pirate ship! Has anyone else been playing this? I feel like I want to play it with the gamepad, since it'll give me convenient item access and gyroscopic control for aiming ranged weapons (I know lots of people complained about it, but I found that function indispensable in OoT3D), but moving around feels so weird now that I've played a billion hours of Mario using the Pro controller.

I have a feeling that this sentence is going to be the soul of this entire thread. It's the reason I still just can't bring myself to buy a 360. If I could, though, I'd get the HD version of Space Invaders Extreme and a little game called Deadly Premonition*. *note: neither of these are technically exclusive

Chibi-Robo, Simpsons Hit & Run, and Paper Mario 2 here. Honestly I think I hate Wii's Gamecube compatability mode more than the Wii U's Wii compatability, because at least when I feel like playing a Wii game on the Wii U I can use a Wii remote to do everything I need to do to get to the actual game. Playing a Gamecube game is needlessly complicated for me now, because I have to boot the Wii, sync one of my Wiimotes to it since they're all connected to the Wii U now, attach a classic controller to the Wiimote because the sensor bar is also connected to the Wii U now, select the Gamecube game, and only THEN do I get to use the Gamecube controller that has been connected to the system this whole time and is clearly recognized by it since Wii games can use it. I keep wondering why Nintendo never patched in an option to control the Wii menu with a Gamecube controller, or to boot straight to disc rather than the home menu.

The fact that such a shitty game has such great music is just the best, really.

The 3DS made me paranoid about buying consoles at launch, because if I had waited I would have spent eighty dollars less but also never gotten copies of Yoshi's Island and Metroid Fusion on it.
