  1. Arma 3 Alpha Thumbs

I'm down to shoot mans in the Video games. Also, a question a suggestion. 1. We should use that sweet ACRE mod when it comes out that adds in cool sounding radios. 2. Does anyone else have problems with mumble where it's WAAAAY too sensitive?
  2. SimCity: The City Simulator

The unfortunate thing is, with EA anything I can never tell.
  3. SimCity: The City Simulator

Not certain it's been posted yet but... http://imgur.com/a/gVKs3 Evidently the long waits are not the only thing wrong with Sim Cityl.
  4. Torment: Tides of Numenera

I really hope they don't get Monte Cook on board. It was a little disheartening to see how much Chris Avellone seems to trust him, and even more disheartening that anyone wants him anywhere near anything, ever.
  5. Tomb Raider

I'm seriously tired of games that play up the gore porn like Dead Space. There's this super gross vibe of "OH MAN IT'S SO BRUTAL AND HORRIFYING, BUT YOU LOVE IT, YEAHHH IT'S FUCKING RAD."
  6. Planetside 2

Yeah, the game is massively CPU intensive.
  7. Planetside 2

The Mad Hatters (H4TS). They don't do open recruitment, but they run their "Tea Party" in one way or another every night. It helps that they have good galaxy pilots and it gives you an objective to chase after if you're solo or in a pair. One of the Gal pilots usually plays music when he does a hot Gal insert (oh my~), and the first time I flew with him he was playing Long Tall Sally a la Predator Also sorry about the abrupt leaving, had a full system crash and decided it was late enough that I'd just apologize in the morning.
  8. Planetside 2

NC, but I have a Vanu alt. When the account wide unlocks pop up I'll probably make more use of it.
  9. Planetside 2

I'm in an outfit of suitably goofy gentlemen who enjoy stomping bad dudes, I'll send you an invite, we roll NC. Also, if you're looking for a random group to join up with and just have some waypoints that get updated, Mad Hatter Tea Party is usually pretty good. Avoid DVS and DREV at all costs, they're tryhards and a half.
  10. Planetside 2

Does anyone here play US East? I'm on Waterson myself.
  11. Planetside 2

True, but if things started the way they are now, I wouldn't have expected them to have change it. Most F2P models feel like you're at least partially buying into a scam, anyway... Also, in the testing of my new, long overdue upgrade, I discovered the most effective way to kill a Galaxy. WITH YOUR MIND http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBNwuwKjyok
  12. Planetside 2

Also the account wide unlocks thing that's coming at the end of this month is awesome. Making it so that your cash purchases are unlocked on every character AND giving you equivalent weapons on your alts on different factions? That shit cray.
  13. Planetside 2

Mumble is giving me a ton of shit trying to set it up. That combined with my lack of SPACEBUX unlocks on that server, I'm thinking I'll wait until the month end patch that makes your cash cross-character (like, the same amount for each character to spend on them). Also, can I just say how awesome this game is, and how awesome the level of support SOE is providing?

Pro-Tip: The Dalton is the best belly gun you can get on the Liberator. That with IRNV basically turns you into that CoD4 AC-130 mission. Also remember to drop the 2 certs to up your ammo capacity and give your gun some zoom on all your vehicles, ESPECIALLY the secondary or tertiary guns. Makes a huge difference.

Servers are back up but they're having some FPS issues. Aside from those, the new patch is looking awesome.
  17. Space (Asshole) Station 13

All the talk about The Ship and the Thumbs' love of bizzare player interactions got me thinking if anyone here played Space Station 13. I was pretty surprised I couldn't find a topic here, especially since Chris' "Space Asshole" is practically the unofficial theme of the game. For those of you who don't know... It's a free, 2D isometricish game available via BYOND's client, and despite it's clunkiness I'd seriously suggest everyone check it out.The backdrop for is (unsurprisingly) a space station, one that's heavily covered in simulations. Every tank on the station has an internal pressure and temperature related to that pressure and related to what's inside. Outside the station is space. Not just "you die after a few seconds" but an actual vacuum one that on some servers will even cause ice to form in hull breaches, complicating movement and repairing them. There's a slew of jobs, from a hydroponics department that manages a small flock of animals and trays full of plants, to a robotics bay that can make cyborgs out of people after removing their brains, or build power loading mechs. The station has necessary jobs like a security force, a medical bay and an engineering department that sets up the power for the station. There's even a player controlled AI who oversees the station, and department heads and a captain to add some bureaucracy to the mix. People are expected to roleplay as their jobs and create a sort of temporary character, which all adds the the very "slice of life (on-board a space station)" feel of the game. All of this is interesting enough, but on top of all this is what most people consider to be the real game. Each round, a game type is picked, which usually dictates how long the round is going to be. Free form is just people getting to roleplay and goof around, or reach the end of the rather long and sometimes laborious research trees in the robotics and research bays. These rounds can last up to 3 hours, but usually this mode isn't turned on unless people request it. Typically, the game choose a game type that involves an antagonist. Most commonly this is a Traitor, a randomly selected member of the crew who's given an objective (Kill a crew member or steal a piece of equipment), and survive until the end of the round when the evacuation shuttle is called. They can spawn a limited number of items to help them complete their objectives, all of which are contraband and if they're caught, they'll likely be jailed for the entire round, or executed. Traitor is the most common, but there are other modes like Changeling, which has a small group of players who can shapeshift into other players after consuming them. There's even a Wizard mode, in which an asshole space wizard is given a big book of spells and a really simple objective, most of the time which never gets accomplished, but often results in entertaining round types, especially when the wizard decides not to be an antagonist and just pal around. The easiest way to get a feel for the game would be to just observe on one of the servers, or play as an assistant and ask for control help. There's a ton of servers, but I find the ones set up by 4chan's /tg/ and /vg/ to be the best in terms of their server code's content, playerbase and their admins. http://www.nanotrasen.com/ has all the info you need, including a helpful wikia.
  18. Space (Asshole) Station 13

It's active but a long way off from anything playable, which sucks. BYOND is responsible for most of the lag, as I understand it.
  19. Space (Asshole) Station 13

The interface is going to seem clunky as shit and impenetrable at first (much like Dwarf Fortress), just a warning. One of my most favorite moments was playing as the Head of Security. The round was fairly uneventful, I had to mostly deal with false arrests and a paranoid captain. I was sitting in my office when suddenly out of the disposal chute, a tall, brown paper wrapped parcel popped out of it. Curious, I walked over to it and unwrapped it, finding that it was an emergency air tank closet. Suddenly it burst open and a man ran out, throwing a home made explosive at my feet before scrambling back into the disposal chute. "OH FUCK" is all I typed before running out of the room, narrowly escaping the explosion that destroyed my office and put a hole in the side of the station. I was later bludgeoned to death by an assistant wielding an air tank. Such is life in space.
  20. Games that nail atmosphere and immersion

In terms of the long term feeling of Fallout 3, I agree with you, but that opening moment just felt so amazing to me.
  21. New people: Read this, say hi.

    *clear's throat* Hi.
  22. New people: Read this, say hi.

I forgot to say hi in this. Hi. I apologize formally, please do not behead me.
  23. Games that nail atmosphere and immersion

Every STALKER nails this, as does Metro 2033, but the one moment that stands out in my mind is from Fallout 3. When you first come out of the vault to the wasteland and see that radio bot rambling along the road past you, I was just struck by it. I immediately felt like the only living thing on that side of the door, and I really felt the lonesomeness of being in that Capital Wasteland.
  24. Planetside 2

NA - Waterson - New Conglomerate - GTibbles Whenever server swap tokens come out I'll probably move over to EU with you guys since I already have a a Vanu alt. Here's 20 something guys from ShackTac (A fairly hardcore ARMA group) dicking around in their Planetside platoon, just cuz. Also in reference to the radio things, I believe mumble allows for multiple channels (Ground/Air/Infantry etc) and communication between those channels, or to one individual.
  25. Hotline Miami

Hm... the puzzle is stumping me And a tip to Turbo: After you figure out how to clear a level, just go back through as Ramsus, they stand out a lot more.
