Yes, that's something I'd provisionally be interested in doing! Like others, I would need at least a week or two to confirm if I can or not.

Yep, I actually really enjoy that it takes place realtime. That doesn't explain how I'll accept a mission with 30+ minutes, attempt to launch or hype and the game crashes, and then lose the mission and be credited with stolen cargo within 10 minutes after I'm back in the game. I accepted a mission with 25 minutes, crashed, logged back in, and there was 1 minute left on the mission. It expired as I was getting landing clearance. Even if I'm under exaggerating my time to return to game, it's not 20 minutes per crash.

I dunno, looks good to me! Who doesn't want a turret sequence in their third person stealthish character action game?

I just meant the thread title. We could compromise with Dishonored Christmas. Like I said, I didn't read the thread to determine if someone asserted if it actually was Halloween because it was much to early for it to be Halloween.

Found a joystick scheme that seems to work. Alt-tab works now. I am soft locking repeatedly when entering jumps, and when trying to launch from stations. When I get back in, sometimes I'm in the station mesh, sometimes I haven't accepted missions, sometimes time has jumped forward so instead of being able to easily complete missions I'm fined and have stolen cargo I can't get rid of. It's really not fun at all. The problem is I can see how fun it COULD be. The simple act of navigating the menus and systems to go from one station to another is awesome. I haven't even upgraded a ship or done anything but haul shit on a mission (mostly because I've lost more money than I made because of fines due to crashes!)

Not posting in it because it was far too early for Halloween! Also that thread was about Halloween, not claiming it WAS Halloween. I've made a couple of curt posts, so I want to say I don't have any negative feelings about Christmas. The fact that the "christmas season" begins the moment Halloween ends, and Halloween starts the first weekend kids are back in school is what I have negative feelings about. I enjoy the vibes I get from people about Christmas, and I understand why it's their favorite time of year. But it's so horribly commercialized, and so few people I know personally are engaged with it in any way beyond decorating and gift giving. I actively detest the music, though.

I have an i5 and a 750ti. It does NOT run smoothly at max settings, but it does run.

I'm pretty jealous of your hair, to be honest.

Yep, I'm also in the Alpha for PC. I'll be able to play it probably Saturday at some point.

Boo, baseball. Damn, so close Royals. Sal Perez was not good at all in the postseason (or this year in general, really). Gordon would absolutely have been out. The ball was in the relay man's glove by the time he pulled into 3rd. We can all agree how exciting a finish it would have been though. With the caveat that I have not watched nearly all of the action, especially not with sound, I'm going to ask when Joe Buck discovered emotions. Apologies for the crappy music playing underneath. But in the last 2-3 years, Joe Buck somehow learned to not be a robot? Thank god the call from Buck for the Phillies in 2008 isn't in the montage. Literally all he says is "Phillies are World Champions." Not even an exclamation point. A period at the end of the sentence. e: http://awfulannouncing.com/the-locker/tv-radio-calls-giants-world-series-win.html/ Here are all the broadcast calls if you want to listen or hate-listen to the last out. KC announcer is so depressing. :[

People Badfinger with facial hair is said to look, this week edition: A rabbi Tim McGraw? I think that's a compliment? I was not aware I resembled Tim McGraw in any way. I'm much more familiar with the work of his father.

I appreciate you doing research, but that's not necessary! Was just curious if you knew of a place where I could look at them myself. I've seen VoiceAttack. It's pretty amazing. I've also seen the X-52/55, which I wish I could have, but that's $100+ more than I have to spend on a flight stick.

Getting a Thrustmaster HOTAS. Doing the preflight and remapping is a good idea! Was just curious if there was anything that was considered a good resource for hive minding best practice stuff. The thing that's going to be hardest for me, most likely, is that my keyboard is on a tray under the desk. I can't put it in between throttle and stick like I think most people are set up.

I spawned inside a station at least 2 times, maybe 3! I decided to not wrestle with it anymore yestereday. Lo and behold, there's a patch when I wake up this morning. In addition, my HOTAS is arriving today! Time to completely relearn all the buttons, and hopefully use fewer keyboard keys. Does anyone have a good resource for how (what) to map the buttons to? Even if you're not using it yourself. Official forums, or unofficial forums or what have you.

Two questions- I'm not able to Alt-Tab without having to, uh... restart my computer. Is that a known issue? Is there a way I can fix it? It doesn't look like there's a windowed/borderless option. I was having connection issues. Does that happen often, or is that likely a beta release thing?
-
It's a weird thing to ask for a game in beta, but a game like this is a big commitment so my feeling is either people were early adopters, got in immediately, and thus "still playing" is a valid question, or are waiting for a full release and would not be playing at all. So... I bought it. And I bought it about 2 hours after Beta 3 dropped too. Time to fumble my way through learning how to use a flight stick and play a real space sim again. Current issue: Docking?
-
I'm not going to suggest they're wildly different games. They're both flight sims from the same company released within 18 months of each other, after all. I remember the progression structure being different, though. In X-Wing, if you got shot down or failed a mission, you lost rank (I never made it past Lt). In Tie Fighter you just retried the mission, which allowed me to actually finish the game. Tie Fighter was also much longer. The graphics and AI were both improved, and the mission structure (from what I remember?) had a lot more secondary objectives. X-Wing is an awesome and groundbreaking game. TIE Fighter is legit in the running for my GOAT game. It's an objectively better game that I like subjectively more. If you're only spending $10 and you don't care (or are actively intrigued) that you play as the Empire, get TIE.
-
Are any of you all playing/still playing this? The X-Wing/TIE Fighter surprise caused me to unexpectedly buy a flight stick, since the last time I used one was for... xwing and tie fighter, and it still requires a game port. I was holding out on getting one for Elite: Dangerous, and holding out on getting Elite because I didn't have a flight stick. The cycle is now broken and threatens to break the other half.

AHHHH I CAN PLAY X-WING AND TIE FIGHTER AGAIN AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Nope.
