  2. QUILTBAG Thread of Flagrant Homoeroticism

Wow, really good writing in favor of this vote! Our country sees itself as being founded on the principles of fundamental rights. Wait no it's Justice Alito, a hideous human being who says this should have been voted down because the in-favor vote is going to cause people to hunt down bigots who are still in dissent. How can you write a passage like that and not look at it and say to yourself "I actually meant to vote with the majority."
  3. Other podcasts

That's fascinating to me, because when I went back and listened I was amazed at how precisely they had nailed being exactly what Idle Thumbs is from the very start. I think Sean's empathy has very much changed how the Thumbs become introspective about something, but not the arc of conversation. I also have trouble coming to grips with the fact that's 3/4 of the episodes now.
  4. 100% honesty, if you can visually identify your computer components you can build a computer.
  5. Lord of the (Necro)dance - Daily Challenge!

Thought so. One of the things I enjoy a great deal is as you're going through the regular progression of the game, when you are using Melody and Aria the game defaults to the other remixes.
  6. Super Metroid Appreciation Station

Super Metroid does put a dot on the map if there's a item in the room, but it doesn't call out what's in there. This is the thing I saw that made me understand I could like speed runs. Krauser is my spirit animal.

Drinking Bell's Oberon right now. Well selected, thank you.
  8. Lord of the (Necro)dance - Daily Challenge!

FuryBoy are you using the default music in the keep? It might be my headphones, but it sounds slightly different.
  9. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

It is literally the first action you take in the game, so it's not too much of a spoiler, but
  10. Even when I had an ATI card that somehow managed to be in the overlap of when they had really competitive cards and also a driver update system that wasn't a nightmare, that whole process was never as smooth as Nvidia on ATI's best day. Nvidia's currently ahead on cards and is just a much smoother ecosystem, so I haven't even thought about switching. The transition from an ATI card to an Nvidia was much easier for me than the other way around. The drivers are honestly no sweat at all.

Oh yes, very familiar with Dogfish. Their brewery is about 90 minutes from where I'm sitting right now. I worked at a taproom that always had 8 Dogfish beers on tap. About half the beers on this list are brewed within 2 hours from where I am actually, so some of them probably don't have more than regional distribution. If you are into American Wheats, I really recommend Dogfishhead Namaste. I have had the Purple Haze, and the New Belgium Snapshot was actually the first fill up for the growler as The Lady I Was Sharing The Beer With liked it. It was very good. Jen, you would probably like the Festina Peche? Worth a taste, Peach Weissebier. If you like saisons, the Sorachi Ace is a little bit higher than usual ABV for saisons but relatively cleanly hopped. There are some IPAs I can stand, but if I'm drinking anything that leans towards that style I'm way more a summer/pale/(no prefix) ale guy than IPA. I love porters and stouts, too. Shout out to the Free Will Kragle for having a rad name.
  12. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

Oh god, yeah. I'm not at all comfortable with how that worked.
  13. PC Gaming - Graphics and Performance

You are going to be better for longer if you just buy a processor "whenever" as opposed to a video card. At this point, all video cards that we would be talking about are PCI-E of some variety, and those scale fine, i.e. you can use a PCI-E 2.0 card in a 3.0 and vice versa. I am shocked at how few computer parts I've bought since 2010. I am checking my Amazon and Newegg history, and I bought my processor four years ago today. Happy Birthday i5 2500k! I have no intentions on upgrading in the near future. If my video card hadn't died, I'd have only upgraded from that this past month (bought a stopgap when it kicked the bucket last year) from a 2011 purchase as well because nVidia sweetened the pot with two games included at retail price. My suggestion for "future proofing", which doesn't exist but is as viable as it's ever been, would be to upgrade your processor and motherboard to a modern-style architecture and get at least 8 gigs of RAM and THEN work on the graphics card. You still might want to bump it up (hey I have a GTX 750ti I might be willing to part with for not a ton of money...) but at that point instead of trying to drag all your components up with one big purchase you're just optimizing. They just rolled out the GTX 980ti, which (for us, especially talking about an 8800GT) is for all intents and purposes a Titan's worth of graphics power at 60% of the cost. Presumably in the next 6 months they'll roll out the 970ti, and you could grab that or take advantage of the price drops for older cards that would come with that new rollout.
  14. Super Metroid Appreciation Station

Agreed. I was going to add the caveat that some people find Zero Mission to be a possibly superior version of that formula, but Super Metroid is absolutely a seminal game. I still think it's the one you should play, then play Zero Mission.
  15. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

Rocksteady suspended Steam sales (it says PC sales, but this is the Steam message) of Arkham Knight. http://steamcommunity.com/games/208650/announcements/detail/145587678167685991 http://www.giantbomb.com/articles/warner-bros-suspends-pc-sales-of-batman-arkham-kni/1100-5229/ I wonder if I would be able to get a refund for this, considering I redeemed a code rather than directly purchasing the game.
  16. Super Metroid Appreciation Station

I'm guessing you mean 2D Metroid? Super Metroid is THE Metroid game. It is the one you should play.
  17. Intoxicated:

I bought a growler at a place in-between where I work and live! It was $7-8 for the half gallon size, and then their fills work out to like $3-4 a pint. They have 50 craft beers on tap. I'm excited. Taking recommendations from their current tap list. http://www.thedelawaregrowler.com/
  18. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

The game ran really smoothly up until I jumped out of the batmobile for the first time, at which point it became a juddering mess. Not a positive experience, though I did manage to put in like half an hour.
  19. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

Downloaded it last night. I'm going to give it the ol' Gefore Experience and see how it handles for me. Like prettyunsmart, I also got an included copy when I bought a new graphics card.
  20. Nuclear Throne: Oh! I accidentally ate my gun.

The chests thing isn't really a spoiler. I learned that could happen because it came up as a hint on the loading screen. They changed chicken's special ability some time in the last 3 weeks! I have really enjoyed watching this game come together.
  21. The Witcher 3: What Geralt Wants

I'm not going to try to justify whether the game is right to push those plots, or if you find them good or rewarding, but Geralt is an established character with a history and a backstory as opposed to your own formless Shepard. The reason some of those romantical subplots are there is because he had existing romantic relationships with some of those sorceresses. Where you try to steer them is your choice, but they are in-universe established fact.
  22. Post your face!

Now why would you go and do something like that?! Did Olly enjoy the reception? Since we are all about #fashion right at the moment, I like those shoes. Her dress is gorgeous.
  23. The Witcher 3: What Geralt Wants

I'm pretty sure you can swap on the fly if you want to up your challenge from here on out. I'm at 80+ hours, which is insane. Just randomly, I looked at the paid DLC they're releasing later in the year. They're suggesting that between the two pieces it's at least another 30 hours of content. CD Projekt, you are nuts. BTW if you're using GOG, it doesn't look like it automatically adds the free DLC they're releasing weekly. You have to go in and check them to parcel them in.
  24. The Witcher 3: What Geralt Wants

The baffling thing to me is outside of Gwent quests, I have nothing left in my log. I am level 30, which I got during Isle of the Mists. Now admittedly I haven't done every single "?" icon on the map, but I've done a goddamn lot of them, and in the home stretch of the game I can't even make the coolest Witcher armor as yet (1500 exp to go!), but I'm way overleveled for the final quest. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO BUILD THE GNOMISH GWYHYR IF I CAN'T GET TO LEVEL 42 YOU GUYS?!
  25. Steam Summer Sale Spendapalooza

I made one purchase, and I have already finished it. I thought about Project CARS but I just couldn't make myself pull the trigger. Do... do I win?
