Oh man, there's a teleport?
There's something perverse about the game's perceived lack of a thing making me play it too little to discover said thing, which would make me want to play it more.
Back in I go.

I adore the graphics, they just ooze charm to me.

I think it's really interesting how Brian completely sidesteps any potential ethical concerns about their revenue strategies, even when you were trying to gently direct the conversation there. I wonder if it's because he feels distressed about the subject or just ignores it.

I terribly miss the Homeward Bone in pretty much every one of these games I play.

It's really, really good. Chewed through it in a couple of sittings.
The only knock I have on it is one Hollow Knight shares which is that it's a pain to get around after a certain point. It's usually what makes me put down Metroidvanias.

Yeah, especially after just playing a ton of Nioh this is surprisingly uninteresting to me. I'll probably still buy & play it but it's not the instalock purchase I expect to have with From games.

Excellent discussion, I loved this. Nice job moderating as well, Chris, though with such good panelists I guess the biggest challenge was not to gush/be intimidated too much

I'm not in his territory either so I can't speak for that but it seemed fine to me, and extremely interesting.
Also seems that the valve/twitch censorship discussion is becoming more tense http://variety.com/2018/gaming/news/valve-sexual-content-1202815629/

I loved this. Especially fun was hearing Steve being made uncomfortable by Robert, and clearly enjoying the discomfort, and Robert enjoying both the discomforting effects and the way in which Steve was enjoying it. Appropriately many levels for a couple of level-designers

The game is definitely not tuned to have a fun start when playing on hard. You have none of the tools or muscle memory yet to deal with the enemies. Some of the hardest encounters in the game are actually early on for this reason, bizarrely.
Things definitely open up a lot, it takes some time to get there though.

I can only offer anecdotes, in that my younger brother claims to have learned most of his English from playing Magic with me.
I personally learn my Eenglish from a booke.

Finished God of War. Whew, what a ride. There's still some tough fights waiting for me, but I've travelled the main plot. I don't get this often but I'm actually tempted to start over again on a higher difficulty (played at normal).

Crap. My bad.

What a frustrating interview. You can see John trying to get anything but it's all just "we're super excited to have cool people around" which, duh, and how it's cool that they don't have to do payroll and stuff anymore. I guess it all makes sense from their perspective, so I'm happy for them but I'm sad there's one fewer cool game company out there.
One cool thing to read was how much indie outreach Jake's apparently been doing, kudos!

I had zero interest in playing the pre-reboot games because they hinged mostly on violence, misogyny and juvenile bullshit.
This new game I love to bits. I'm 100% in favour of the dadification of games, and my only complaint would be that I'd also like some more momification. Having a game with Kratos in it actually have an emotional arc is not something I ever expected to happen, but I'm glad it did. Basically, what Mington said.
Boy.
@twmac That seems like an entirely fair review to me. Personally I'll take any excuse to get more of this game so the filmsy fetching didn't bother me too much, but I can understand it being bothersome and it's hard to justify narratively. There's some amazing plot payoff moments though.

The girls have enjoyed the heck out of Labo. The fishing game is a bit too hard for them; the house minigame has been exhausted by now after several hours, and the racing is still in high demand.
I've not really had much of a chance to play with the games myself but putting the kits together as a family has been great fun.

I adored this. Wonderful talk.

I hope this is good for the team (I expect so or they wouldn't have done it) but I'm not happy for me; Valve's cloud of silence is incompatible with my enjoyment of the Thumbs, and I hate the idea of their game being locked into Steam.
-
The Wasp Factory is excellent indeed, Iain Banks is a treasure that we lost way too early.
-
The idea is to actually say something about the games, not to simply compose a list. Why would anyone care about the latter?

Sometimes the ordinary discussion was very sincere and very focused, sometimes more rambling, but Idle Thumbs tended to have a lot more grounded portions. Even if I felt they sometimes tried too hard to constrain themselves from reverting to the bullshit.
I do look forward to my weekly dose of pods, but I also do kind of miss the guys discussing things seriously.
Totally agreed. I fear that, similar to the pressure to always have something game-related to discuss for IT, the pressure to always be zany for IIT will make it less fun to do in the long run. You can already kind of feel it coming due to the increasing amount of "this is garbage delete this" going on in each newer pod.
Don't take me wrong, I'm enjoying the Content, but I worry.

I cannot overstate how refreshing it is to watch a sitcom that actually feels like there's a progression between episodes.

Yeah I'm with Tycho on this one. I get that it's possible for book three to go "ho ho ho, but Kvothe was bullshitting all along" but that would not actually improve book 2 in any meaningful way.
