Yeah, this thread made me dig out my old cards, somehow most of the ones you posted are among them. Something definitely was lost in translation for me. It reminds me of how well the Shadowrun remake did in that respect.

My pet peeve about the whole concept is that Steve Jackson already showed that it works great with the illuminati card game. It took until dominion for other people to realise that selling huge boxes of nonrandom cards is viable.

I just picked up a copy of the base set last saturday, largely on the strength of your advocacy on the podcast. I look forward to trying it out on my friends. I remember back in the day I bought a starter set of the collectible version plus maybe some boosters from the first expansion (it was virus-themed as I recall) but didn't really get enough cards to make up both a viable corp and runner deck so I had a lot of trouble getting people into it back then, even though I've always adored the design. Anyway, I'm not nearly as deep in the rabbit-hole as you guys (nor likely to be) but I'm very happy to see the resurgence of great designs in such a clever way. The Starwars Decipher game is another one that was great fun back then.

I've always had trouble understanding people who can just uproot themselves and move. I tried it once and hated the experience of being away from all the friends and family that I'd spent so much time building up relationships with. It felt like a waste.
