That kind of makes me wonder whether there's statistics about regional differences between the success of free-to-play. I can imagine areas where the advertorial idea of you want it -> you need it has taken more hold containing a lot more people who are vulnerable to the free-to-play model.

Nah, it's extremely enjoyable if you're not obsessive about it. There's always a fun selection of guys available to play for free, which changes every week.

As far as I'm aware only MMOs do this at the moment. Most people who want something similar for a LoMa refer to WoW's dungeon finder as an example of what they want. Riot's thoughts on this are here: http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=3220746

Idle Tongues (food before your mind goes elsewhere)

Well yeah, my dash ends up being pretty large too Also measurements are meant to indicate ratios, for which metric actually is easier to compare imo. I don't know how many cups to a quart or whatever. -
Barney, that looks awesome. I have to say the name is a bit of an issue with me though given the years of precedence Dungeon Crawl has. Like, your game will very hard to google with that name.

Card Hunter, Path of Exile, Dota2 and League of Legends show that no, it's not evil.

Idle Tongues (food before your mind goes elsewhere)

This is the base I usually work from. I've also had great success using pumpkin and parsnips in here. Basically the vegetable part of this is up to taste. 2 tbsp olive oil 75g butter 2 leeks, rinsed and chopped 3 cloves of garlic or a bunch of wild garlic leaves if available. 500g risotto rice dash of white wine about 1.5 litres simmering vegetable stock 3 asparagus stalks 30g podded broad beans 1/2 courgette cubed 1 tbsp each of chopped mint and parsley salt, black pepper 55g parmesan, freshly grated plus shavings to serve 2 tsp lemon juice 1) heat the oil and one-third of the butte rin a deep heavy-based pan. Add the leeks and saute until softened. Add the rice and stir until well-coated in the fat. Increase the heat and simmer gently while stirring. When the wine is absorbed stir in a large ladleful of the hot stock. Cook over a moderate heat, stirring every few minutes and adding more stock as it is absorbed. 2) After the rice has been cooking for about 15-20 minutes, heat half the remaining butter and saute the garlic(/leaves) and the vegetables gently for a couple of minutes. 3) stir the vegetables and their butter into the risotto with the next ladleful of stock. Stir in the herbs and seasoning to taste. 4) Continue adding stock (or boiling water if the stock runs out) until the grains of rice taste creamy but still have some bite. 5) take off the heat and stir in the parmesan and the remaining butter, with more seasoning to taste if necessary and the lemon juice. Leave to sit for about 5 minutes, covered, before serving, garnished with some parmesan shavings and some garlic leaves/flowers if you had any. -
The consequences of this will be very interesting, since the army is the US equivalent of Europe's welfare programmes in that it keeps a lot of otherwise not very employable people off the streets. If a lot of soldiers get made redundant...hm.

The Crate and Crowbar podcast has a bunch of people who sound like Tom, unless Tom is on at which point he's the only one who sounds like Tom. I guess my voice processing is weird.

The Elder Scrolls Online free-to-play betting pool!

Ironically the Hellgate:London one was at least slightly a departure from this. Still one of the best parts of that game. -
Eternal Champion was so good.

I hope you took Tycho's other post (about working conditions etc) seriously as well. I think a lot of people would have ended up happier if they made games as a hobby rather than trying to make a career out of it. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if that would lead to a lot more interesting games as well, judging from people like Tom Francis.

That's pretty much the thesis of one of the recent You Are Not So Smart episodes. A very fun listen.

I played a lot of that Magic & Mayhem game back in the day. It's closely liked with Nox in my mind as a couple of games that did magic well. -
I think Silent Storm is probably the absolutely best game that nobody has heard of.

I think seeing the doc first may be a strong factor, at least for us the realisation worked just like it was supposed to. I intentionally didn't watch the doc until I played through the game for precisely this reason.
-
Also, this might be obvious, but you're listening to Tone Control right? Stories about how some great devs got into the industry?

Yeah, that was my line of thinking also. -
I have to say King of Tokyo without the expansion gets a bit boring.

The second, for sure. -
Could you say something about what you found so good about it? The quality of the portraiture of these broken people? The sense of place it has?

Th bad guys also have the most hilarious names, like Sir "Front-of-a-cow".

Then you lose the dots on the a - those also indicate that it's multiple If you want to say that Nick (singular) is the biggest baddest wine seller around you'd say Der Überweinhandler.

It's also the multiple form of the, which is what is intended in the original game title at least http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/12830/die-weinhandler

Tiny nitpick that should be easy to fix: There should also be two dots on the 'a' in Weinhandler unless you want to imply Nick's a woman. This project is amazing, you guys are amazing.
