  1. Magical Realism & Weird Fiction thread

    Bloody hell. .
  2. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Ha, I did exactly that, DaveC. Gwyn's still alive, everything else is dead.
  3. I don't understand why, to be honest, given that it's the rule rather than the exception.
  4. Magical Realism & Weird Fiction thread

Some of the weirdest fiction I've read is Jeff Vandermeer's Ambergris books, starting with this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_of_Saints_and_Madmen A city built in a swamp with a symbiotic fungus possibly sentient possibly not...weird as hell.
  5. The Hypothetical Adventure Game

    Zangarmarsh! Cool!
  6. Bioshock Finite: Irrational Games shuts down

It's possible to be both a creative, smart guy and a bad project lead at the same time, unfortunately.
  7. 3 questions for those of you who work in the Industry

If you haven't checked it out yet, this thread covers a lot of the same ground.
  8. DOTA 2

Feel free to interpret that as a pre-emptive/general request.
  9. New people: Read this, say hi.

Wow you have the best username. Also avatar. Welcome!

Yeah I haven't seen SpeedyDesiatio in ages
  11. DOTA 2

The latest League season also added a trinket slot that you could see as a sort of selectable ability. Also less Video game tribalism please.
  12. Spelunky!

This game depresses me so much because I love everything about it to bits - except platforming. Why does one of the best roguelikes have to have a core mechanic I dislike
  13. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Having morrigan and a mage main character that both specialise in frost and healing pretty much trivialises the game as I recall. Freezing is super powerful. It's been forever since I played that game though. I'm actually tempted now, augh.
  14. General Video Game Deals Thread

I have 4 Broken Age coupons free for the taking.
  15. Is the an extensive "History of inventions" book out there?

Somewhat unrelated but this thread reminded me of this amazing book that was very formative for me: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Way_Things_Work
  16. Tone Control 9: JONATHAN BLOW :o

People who have the ability to tell that something actually is pretentious rather than smart are usually themselves smart enough to know and sling shit.
  17. Bioshock Finite: Irrational Games shuts down

This sounds like great news to me, I'm curious what Ken will come up with, as well as the ex-Irrational devs. Infinite was a bit disappointing so it's sensible and inspiring to try and scale things down again.
  18. Sheesh, like that would ever be his decision. Come on.

The common solution to this is to have a bot in there with ops and nobody else does, which is fine by me (in fact I'd prefer it over the "funny" kick stuff you otherwise will inevitably get).
  20. Completely fair and understandable, I just wanted to bring up my weird feelings (I know these are important to you guys).
  21. I have to say I'm a bit weirded out seeing the anniversary cool thing being brought up in a quid pro quo way. The actual pledges should be obligation enough not to tarnish a spontaneous gesture of appreciation.
  22. Recently completed video games

You're trying to win the campaign, not every battle.
  23. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

Ah, but which Toblix, that's the question.
