That sucked. Shame on you.

Goddamn Kalameet's tail remains the only tail I haven't cut off in this bloody game.

Julian Gollop's Chaos Reborn Kickstarter has a "Wizard Lord" tier

Hoplite is really, really fun. I picked it up on Tom Francis' recommendation and have not been disappointed. The only small issue is that once you grok it, it takes a while for each game to ramp up in difficulty to the challenging point. -
Replayable Narratives: Does Anyone Even Play a Game Once?
osmosisch replied to TychoCelchuuu's topic in Video Gaming
I will say that I played through the Yawhg three times in a row quite happily, and Gone Home twice. The combination of things to discover and short start-to-finish time is key, I find.- 41 replies

You get there by defeating Dreadfell and doing the followup quests, basically. I always do all the starter dungeons just for more chances at cool artifacts. I tend to duck into the golem graveyard sometime around the maze. I try to set the storm peak to a low level and then go do something else for a while because Urkis is a dick. It's really amazing how much room there is for improvement in games like ToME. I rarely die now before hitting Dreadfell, though I've been playing less lately due to other games capturing my interest more strongly.

I've been following the development posts about this for a year now. Backed! -
Kim Swift seems like a shoe-in. Amy Henning and Jane Jensen would also be very interesting I expect.

The Nerdist has a gigantic backlog with amazing guests (Including Gabe Newell!). You have to not mind Chris Hardwick (the host) but I find him pretty pleasant to listen to as well. He's a huge comedy nerd which seems to fit your tastes.

That reminds me so much of Forming by Jesse Moynihan.

Yes. Not to the degree that P&P can have obviously, but you have a hub/base of operations that changes as the game progresses, you have fixed team members that each have a reasonably interesting backstory and there's at least one occasion where you can choose to do an extra preliminary run to make a plot run easier. It's a huge improvement over the first campaign in pretty much every way except writing (where it's a small improvement).

Really glad to see this game still giving people entertainment. I've been a huge fan since before the second one came out. You're not the only one who is vexed by the panzerkleins, to the point that there's a mod that removes them: http://www.strategycore.co.uk/files/no-panzerklein-modification-s2/

Equating these two seems foolish to me btw. Sitting ergonomics are no joke.

That's how I picked up my Model M as well. Been with me for a decade now

That's some seriously Lynchian hair. Can't say I disapprove

I think making the single object I probably use the most in my day-to-day life as pleasant to use as I can is not really a waste.

I'll second this.

I'm very happy with my Razor Black Widow stealth at work. I only got that one because I was driving my colleagues crazy with my old IBM Model M. Clicky keys are just something I require to have fun typing. e: I was tempted to get this one but they are sold out all the time

Calling The Magicians literary is quite the stretch. Entertaining sure.

I'm part of a local boardgame design group. Several of our members have gotten games published by now or are deep in talks (not me though). Nothing major, just the Dutch market. I don't really have the time or energy to work on them much (showing that it's probably best I don't do it as my day job haha) but I have a couple of designs under development that show promise. It's great fun playing and evaluating each other's work and seeing it improve over time.

I think it might depend on which story path you go down. I did get the sequence he described.

I'm really liking the DLC so far. It's a bit more free-flowing than the original and indeed lets you save wherever you want. I'd go so far as to say that people picking the gam eup for the first time might be better off with the DLC rather than the first campaign as their first playthrough.

I strongly recommend this book for a pretty interesting and thorough look at this question, for once not from the doomsayer's perspective: http://smarterthanyouthink.net/
