  1. Idle Thumbs 169: On Blade

I'm just glad my response wasn't unique or, itself, weird. The very fact that you guys are so good about this sort of thing is what made it stand out to me.
  2. Idle Food - Cooking!

I've been practising my bakery. Turned out very tasty though the dough was a tad dry.
  3. Idle Thumbs 169: On Blade

It's kind of weird to me for the podcast to be sponsored by games none of the hosts (to my knowledge) have played, and then hear them read out an obviously written-for-them junket about it. It really clashes with the honest, critical nature of the podcast.
  4. Plug your shit

Long-time fan and the pace of your updates definitely justifies notifying us when one drops
  5. I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)

See, this would be way better with Wiley!
  6. DOTA 2

That was super good and informative, thanks.
  7. The Kid in Amurrica (Woah-oah)

It's sort of the usual Brit practise of copying something from the US without the redeeming qualities, maybe?
  8. DOTA 2

It's questionable at best to make a causal link between HoN's awful playerbase and its presence of a surrender option.
  9. Philosophy & Economics

Yeah. That post only reinforces the message that I received from the video (perhaps others interpret it differently).
  10. Feminism

The point of that article is that the employer was made aware and chose to ignore it.
  11. DOTA 2

    Seriously Twig, that's beneath you.
  12. Nested - The Everything Simulator

    I am amazed. Thanks.
  13. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Reminds me of the stupid puzzles in the 3DS one where you had to close the screen at one point and blow into the mic.
  14. Non-video games

Ha, we appear to be polar opposites re: boardgames because I loathe (and lose at) werewolf-likes and school noobs at Dixit and Cosmic Encounter
  15. Introverts, social anxiety and multiplayer games

Hearthstone is the least anxiety-inducing multiplayer game I've played recently by quite some margin, though I'm not sure it exactly fits the bill. The lack of chat makes it easy to just treat every game like a puzzle scenario to be solved, though to get better at it you do need to start some mental modeling of the opponent. My most positive social experience in games in general has probably been in WoW, especially after joining a guild for old farts. This was quite some years ago though, no idea how the climate is there now. TF2 used to be fun and chill as well, but that's also a game I haven't touched in ages. This bears repeating btw.
  16. Non-video games

By those criteria you really should have Dixit in your arsenal, Gorm. Especially because in my experience a lot of people get turned off by all the arguing and agonistic interaction in werewolf-likes.
  17. The class challenges in the plague quarter are utterly delightful. It makes me wish there weren't such strong restrictions on how many copies of each card one can play in constructed.
  18. I Had A Random Thought...

This new one isn't frantic enough to fit all the yelling you do. Tree guy was best.
  19. Trump is pretty educational, especially his [ttt] videos: I'm also a pretty big fan of MrShine's Arena series: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxXM5QO1Ktql9UmHpsqOUXg
  20. DOTA 2

Consider not having it then? There's so much cooler stuff to talk about. Like Junior Mints' girlfriend's time with the dotes: http://kotaku.com/my-first-63-hours-with-dota-2-1599236453 http://kotaku.com/93-hours-in-im-still-not-sure-if-dota-2-is-fun-1611226542 I love these so much!
  21. DOTA 2

Can we try to keep this kind of bullshit in the game client and off these otherwise somewhat civil forums? You're not actually playing dota right now, no need to act like it.
  22. Non-video games

For me, to tickle the drafting itch Seven Wonders and Greed are great. Deckbuilding games are more about engine creation to me which is not quite the same thing. Oh, and Hearthstone Arena of course but that's another thread.
  23. This is a pretty accurate description of my reaction as well
  24. Double Fine - Kickstarter - MASSIVE CHALICE

One of my bigger regrets from my highschool period is turning down the offer to join my school's delegation to the international Cicero translation competition in Rome out of laziness/fear of failure. O vanitas
