  1. Lords of the Fallen: Clunky Souls

Yeah it's an audio log. It's Lords' equivalent of a Dark Souls puzzle boss.
  2. Plug your shit

Oh my god Rodi that rhyme is so bad it literally made me a little angry.
  3. Its beginning to look a lot like GOTY

I think Dark Souls 2 and Shadow of Mordor are the clearest standouts for me this year, with Dark Souls 2 taking the crown by quite some margin. Divinity Original Sin was a lovely unexpectedly good surprise as well.
  4. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

    You'd think so, but nope.
  5. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I was confused as well, but he meant GGautoblocker. It's a sort of twitter blocklist. GGBlocker is a tool made by/for gaters instead.
  6. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

He was also recently on the You Are Not So Smart podcast, a very fun interview. The Dunning-Kruger effect is really tragic and hilarious intertwined. Tragilarious.
  7. Photos of things

Very nice! We finally had our first night frost last night.
  8. That reminds me, teg please teall me you were the one who wrote the many pages of pokemon info to Isometric recently haha
  9. Lords of the Fallen: Clunky Souls

Well, since none of the things you mention particularly bothered me I'm not sure my opinion is all that valuable to you, but I can at least address the specific questions. - there's not much reliance on ganging up on you in this game. There's bosses where adds are a thing, but overall it's more one-on-one than DS2 I would say. It feels pretty fair. There's an O&S equivalent from what I hear but I haven't gotten to it yet. - there's no healing consumables, but there is a healing over time spell if you start as a cleric, and mana recharges over time, so depending on class choice you can have effectively infinite health if you're patient. The cast animation is lengthy though so it's not like you can just spam it within encounters, where you'll mostly still need to rely on "estus". - there's no multiplayer - the most recent patch has resolved all the crash issues I was having (went from once per hour or so to none in a while evening of play)
  10. Lords of the Fallen: Clunky Souls

This game is less similar to Dark Souls 1 than Dark Souls 2, is if that's what you're asking. If being different from Dark Souls 1 is not something you want I'm not sure you'll enjoy this, to be honest. For me it's the differences as much as the similarities that make it interesting. Things I like: - the ability to actually 'tank up' - physDef does way more in this game than Souls - slower combat (at least with the big fuckoff two-handers) - warhamstery art style and lovely environmental design - bosses all have challenge conditions to get a better reward - comprehensible stat system (especially DS2 is just over the top with this imo) - no grinding upgrade materials - every class has spells and a good excuse to use them usually Neutral: - there's just a whole lot less game. I think this is also a matter of the devs knowing their budget/limits though. Things I dislike: - the game gets a bit trivialised by wearing heavy armor, to the point that I'm considering trying a restart with an agility character. It feels weird finishing most bosses in one or two tries. - the ranged option feels kind of tacked-on and not so interesting even given the customisation options you get later. That might just be personal playstyle preference though. - the spells all involve a flaming dude which makes it feel kind of samey
  11. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

Well that's a relief then. It did sound rather far-fetched. I feel a bit foolish now.
  12. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

It's almost as though games made by men are safe from Gooberjoob!?
  13. Lords of the Fallen: Clunky Souls

    Nevermind, rumour-mongering. Game still enjoyable.
  14. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

Just a heads-up, the DRM used in this might damage any SSD it's installed to. It's hard to tell how much of this is starforce-stlye fearmongering, but it might be better safe than sorry if you have a mechanical drive as well and don't mind load times.
  15. Idle Santa 2014

    This is correct.
  16. This War of Mine

It looks amazing, but I'm not really in the mood for this type of thing at the moment. It's definitely on mt watch list though.
  17. Amateur Game Making Night

Man, you work on Armello? I must have missed that. I backed the crap out of that one
  18. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

Bah. I'm going to wait to be enticed with a sale then, I really don't feel like installing yet another content management app to the ol' systray.
  19. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

Oh crap, this is Origin only, right?
  20. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I feel mostly annoyed, to be honest. The only real argument/question I see is "but why isn't she saying positive things/giving suggestions on how it *should* be" - which is not the point of the videos. They are meant to illustrate and highlight. In one video she even does go so far as to show how a positive damsel design could work. It's valid to want FemFreq's videos to be more than they are, but that's not a knock on the videos per se, just a request for more. Harping on the quality of Anita's presentation doesn't seem to go anywhere if you ask me, and besides that he mostly seems to complain that she uses strong terms to call out what's wrong with gaming culture, which, guess what, there's things wrong that deserve strong terms.
  21. Idle Santa 2014

Regretful personal history has shown that I should not participate in these, but I love watching these events. Godspeed, you crazy thumbs.
  22. Lego is Still Cool

My daughter just built this all by herself. Pretty impressive at four. The instruction booklets have really improved from when I was a kid. Unfortunately the kids at her birthday party only bought her the girly lego boxes which are just abysmal. A double-normal-size girly doll, and a bunch of tiny pink blocks plus maybe a horsy. Super disappointing.

When Christmas came for Twig, I said nothing...
