I think a lot of the people who enjoy story-focused games enjoy them because of the quality of the stories. This game does not seem to me like it would have quality stories. Computer algorithms tend to produce subpar fiction.

Those made me play on Normal, because I got tired of reloading. But yeah, the UI for the first game was pretty awful. When I have more trouble knowing if I'll get line of sight on an alien by moving to a square in XCOM than I do in the original X-COM, something is wrong. (And of course it doesn't help that if I guess wrong, I'm up shit creek.)

Um her name is Perodactyl. That doesn't mean the way to spell the dinosaur's name is supposed to be 'perodactyl.' In fact if I had been born with the name "Pterodactyl" I might change it to "Perodactyl" just to avoid confusion, especially if I spent a lot of time having children read my name.

The trailers are neat (and old man Han is totally dope!) but I honestly can't work up a lot of excitement over whatever JJ Abrams is going to churn out. Rian Johnson, though... I'm fucking pumped for that movie.

If anyone would like to continue overthinking the issue, Martha Nussbaum's essay on objectification (a PDF of it shows up if you Google "Nussbaum Objectification") is very good (fun fact: Anita Sarkeesian cited it in one of her videos). She doesn't quite address the very basic issue of "why can't I just make all the women in my video game dress up in bikinis" because like any normal human being that's not even on her radar as something that someone would even potentially think is okay, but the essay does do a very good job of explaining what objectification/sexualization/etc. is and why it is sometimes wrong.

I thought Cara sounded awesome and although I have no trouble telling the various hosts apart it was really nice to get someone who sounds super different, accent-wise.

I'm pretty pumped - just now I made it to level 6 for the first time, and level 7 for the first time in that same run. I was playing as Robot and fairly early (by the end of stage 3) I had a heavy crossbow, the mutation that makes your crossbow bolts homing bolts, and the sticky launcher. I knew the heavy crossbow was amazing, but I hadn't realized how helpful the homing mutation is with it - it made my shots curve and take out a couple enemies if they were close by each other, which was a real lifesaver. The heavy crossbow either way is tremendous - it kills basically everything in one shot. The homing bolts and the sticky launcher's delayed explosions let me be cautions when I needed to, and in an "oh shit" scenario I could just run away and fire crossbow bolts blindly because some of them would curve and hit someone. I died on 7-2 but that was pretty satisfying.

99% of infants isn't really right - it sounds like a ton of infants in the Dyrwood are Hollowborn, but the problem is specific to that area - there are basically no Hollowborn in Eir Glanfath, for instance.

Those are presumably the anti-fighter missiles as opposed to the anti-capital ship torpedoes. Plus I think the Star Destroys pretty much handled it...

I feel like the line between a robot trained to tenaciously track down hidden survivors and then beep or whatever to bring over human rescuers or whatever and a robot trained to tenaciously track down hidden survivors and then explode or whatever is a thin one.
