  1. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

Today I made it to the Olmec Head, and then I tried the daily challenge and of course didn't do nearly as well.
  2. Spacebase!

The EDSCII look would have been incredible, but I'm happy with the current visual style of the game too.
  3. Tone Control is a Podcast!

Yeah, I think Minecraft is a perfect intro for kids, but terrible for adults. I've seen a number of adults play it for the first time, and get very frustrated by the lack of goals or guidance.
  4. Those episodes right when XCOM and Dishonored came out were really good.
  5. Teleglitch

Screenshots of the game made me interested in it, but lots of comparisons to Smash TV made me less interested in it. Can you talk more about your experience with the game?
  6. Non-video games

Yeah that's good. Out-gimmicking some gimmicky strategy is so good.
  7. Tone Control is a Podcast!

I think a lighter stereo pan is ideal, but if you're only working off of one track (which I imagine is the case if you're using a handheld audio recorder) then mono is probably the appropriate route. Doing that in Audacity is easy for sure.
  8. Spelunky!

I haven't seen any observable difference in the frame rate. Maybe I should test out the controller on the xbox...
  9. I really enjoyed how many introspective moments popped up.
  10. Spelunky!

For people that have also played the XBLA version, do the controls for the Steam version seem slightly less responsive? I got that impression when I was playing yesterday evening, but I could just be imagining things...
  11. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

It seems to me that's an untested hypothesis. I have no idea what the numbers are for people that picked up Gone Home that have never played a video game before, and what they thought about it. It would certainly be interesting to find out.
  12. The Stanley Parable

The RPS review for this is brilliant. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/10/17/wot-i-think-the-stanley-parable/
  13. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Maybe I missed it, but I don't see where he said that Gone Home failed as a piece of writing. At one point he compares it to John Hughes movies or Judy Blume novels, and goes on to say that these things are "not bad", and "have a place in the world". I felt like his piece was more directed at people heaping critical praise on the game rather than the game itself. His point that Gone Home isn't going to make games appealing to a broader audience is well taken.
  14. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

I tried setting up the Open Broadcast Software using the instructions on the twitch page, but it didn't really work out... My run last night was going fairly well, but ended sadly in the jungle world when I got trapped underneath a tiki trap with no room to manuever and an exploding frog landed on me. No way out of that situation other than to avoid getting in it in the first place.
  15. Episode 235: A Tough Row Tahoe

I gotta say that I think Julian's comment about the At the Gates alpha testers was kind of unfair. I'm sure people playing the alpha build would love to provide feedback to Jon about whether the game is boring or not. The problem is, without getting into the specifics of the game, there are a lot of core features that are currently absent from the alpha build. So it is sort of an impossible question to answer right now. It would be like trying to judge Unity of Command without any of the supply rules in place. You technically have a playable game, but there isn't anything to meaningfully evaluate yet. It's still interesting to play around with, and move units around, but there is too much missing to provide that more critical feedback of whether the game works or not, if the experience is interesting, etc.
  16. Tone Control is a Podcast!

That was some good podcasting. Who put together the music? I dug it.
  17. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Typical game dev answer: it's done when it's done
  18. Tone Control is a Podcast!

People always talk about these great GDC talks from people like Will Wright, Soren Johnson, etc. and I think it's great if more of those types of conversations (whether it is big game ideas or more nitty-gritty business stuff) are happening all the time.
  19. Tone Control is a Podcast!

OMG so excited for episode 4! And the podcast in general!
  20. Spacebase!

I love the list of features they are planning on adding to the game, especially this one: TIME TRAVEL * events deemed timeline-critical by the IGTTC Armistice of 7978 cannot be changed without serious consequences. however, we are pretty sure time travel armistices are for babies.
  21. Spelunky!

Oh, you can bet on Spelunky deaths now. Amazing. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/10/15/always-bet-on-spelunky-death-roulette/#more-172557
  22. Idle Explorers (Spelunky, um, thumbs)

Alright, I was really trying to hold off until this went on a Steam sale, but I guess I will comply and purchase this. Thanks jerks! username sclpls
  23. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

I am also garbage at message boards, and have no idea how to embed tweets.
  24. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

I am going to be starting something new and cool on tomorrow morning... prepare thyself for blabbin..! — Steve Gaynor (@fullbright) ' class="bbc_url">@ I am going to be starting something new and cool on tomorrow morning... prepare thyself for blabbin..! — Steve Gaynor (@fullbright) Okay, I am definitely intrigued. Your move, Gaynor.
  25. The Wolf Among Us

I haven't played the Wolf Among Us yet, but the gameplay you're describing is the same for the Walking Dead, so if you find that frustrating you're going to find that frustrating for the Walking Dead too. These are definitely not traditional adventure games.
