Hm, I thought it was OS X because it was based on Linux -
Generally the best way to get enough damage is by getting deals with the devil, and those tend to open up if you can do a floor without taking damage, so it's a bit of a positive feedback loop. D6 also helps a lot, once you unlock that.

Maybe? That sounds like something specifically associated with those escort services. "Hired companion" would be a delightfully video-gamey euphemism
-
But that's so vague! It can be used to describe cam girls, erotic artists and writers, professional dominatrices, strippers... I have no strong opinion on what the word should be, but something a bit more specific to describe the specific role of in-person sex-times hired friend would be a handy thing to have... particularly since, of the above group of generalized 'sex workers', this last subgroup is the most at-risk, and most hurt by negative depictions. Well in Diablo 2 you can summon an army of skeletons to follow you around. It's kind of the same thing, right?

An interesting reflection on that same topic by the previously mentioned Maddy Myers: http://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2014/12/grand-theft-auto-will-never-changebut-we-can.html

It is basically a #NotAllNerds situation though

Idle Thumbs 190: A Very Spectrum HoloByte Christmas

Hah, I actually liked that specifically because of how hollow it rang after the third or fourth person said it. It really seems like something they're primarily saying just to make you feel better, rather than actually believing it. Sure Kenny, fucking sure you would. -

Well that's because gamers expect to be catered to. Bleh. Fuck power fantasies. I guess that's what a lot of these RPGs boil down to though. -

I think trying to cater to every taste is an ass-backwards approach. The first priority should be representing different kinds of well-drawn characters of different orientations and personalities: Letting the player interact with them in a particular way is far less important. Incidentally, I'd prefer to see the primary driving factor of attraction between characters be shifted away from the way they interact directly and towards their observable personality. I mean, how you romance the character should be important, but should it be more important than whether you're an asshole to the waiter? From what Chris was talking about with some of the older DA games I gather it has some aspect of this, but I don't know how far they go with it, and it sounds like a lot of romance still boils down to picking your choice and selecting the most seductive options from a wheel menu, rather than trying to be the kind of person your crush would find attractive. -

I thought Samara was pretty much this way in ME2, but it's entirely possible I missed something. -

Hm, that works. I'd assumed the joke more in an amusingly specious answer: You can't bite your ear because you can't reach it, therefore you stand on a chair. Pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps logic. -
Saying you prefer humanism/egalitarianism to feminism is like saying you prefer the idea of equality over the effort of trying to achieve it, IMO. Feminism is the idea of humanism as applied to a specific problem: Denial of the term is denial of the problem.

Isn't by far the most popular Vivian James based account on twitter @vivian_games, who is vocally anti-gg? That probably won't stop being funny.

I was always vaguely confused about what was supposed to be amusing about those, yet found myself somewhat amused by them anyway. -
If not for GamerGate's watchful eyes, what would be the fate of games like Divinity: Original Sin, unfairly and unanimously maligned by a corrupt gaming press? Basically any success that game has achieved it owes directly to GamerGate's protective influence.

Hatred: The Most Despicable Game of All Time?

It doesn't make me angry but it's dumb and gross and almost certainly presents an incredibly toxic worldview. It wouldn't upset me except that I know some people will gobble it up. -
Idle Thumbs Asks: What Is the Best Video Game of All Time?
Problem Machine replied to posh_somme's topic in Video Gaming
By the metric of the game that you play over and over again and feel comforted by, my best game is probably Symphony of the Night. Chrono Trigger is a bit of an odd case there, because I don't actually have the patience to play through it any more but still believe it's one of the most beautiful games ever made and I think of it often. -
