  1. Recently completed video games

What's even worse is that they use the "bad" ending for the sequel. I had gotten the good ending (also not realizing there was more than one) and was very confused/annoyed when I started up Last Light.
  2. What are the must-see TV series?

As far as shows that have ingrained themselves in the mass cultural consciousness (in America at least), I would say Seinfeld is pretty far up there.

    Dan Ryckert in a nutshell.
  4. Destiny

I think the weekly/nightfall are only locked when the mission is from the DLC, which I guess is both of them this week. Next week they should open back up. I understand this though it can definitely be handled better...they should have had an alternate mission for people without the DLC so they aren't locked out of that content every 6 weeks or whatever. I just read a description of the strike playlist update on reddit and yeah it's pretty shitty. They added a lvl 26 playlist and it's now the only one that drops engrams AND it's only available if you have the DLC. I don't think it's a complete shutout...like you can still get non-engram drops from the others, but those don't have the chance of decrypting to things like strange coins or legendaries. I wouldn't be surprised if this was an unforeseen consequence of the combination of adding a new, harder playlist for the DLC and only having the top playlist get engrams and Bungie not even considering the case of people without the DLC (just like this unavailable weekly thing). I'm trying to be an optimist here and understand how this could have been a mistake. Hopefully they patch it.
  5. Destiny

I wish I could have been a fly on the wall for the higher-up's discussions that led to both Paul McCartney being commissioned to do a song for this game and the creation of that video. The reaction when they saw the final product must have been something else. On a slightly more relevant note, the first expansion comes out tomorrow. I'm excited to see what this new raid contains, and hopefully there's a bit more (any) variety to the new missions.

Now don't drag poor steve into this.
  7. Its beginning to look a lot like GOTY

Destiny - Flawed but I can't stop playing. What it boils down to is the fact that the shooting feels perfect. Kentucky Route Zero Episode III - Every one of these has been better than the last. Wolfenstein - A 90's FPS with some modern sensibilities and a surprisingly well executed, if schlocky, story. The only mobile games I played this year but both are great: Hitman Go Monument Valley And I'll allow myself one game that didn't come out this year: Spelunky - I played this a LOT back in the spring. Pretty much the best.

I just listened to this mortgage conversation. I assumed it was the ins and outs of mortgages that would confuse him but he didn't even know what a mortgage was, full stop. Which, ok, that's insane for a 30 year old but whatever. But then the way he went on to shrug off the idea that a mortgage or home ownership was ever a good idea for anyone just infuriated me. God knows I wouldn't expect Dan to wrap his head around building equity or interest rates, but when the other guys tried to explain how landlords can take advantage of people he just said "well I'd just find a new apartment" and that maybe people would want privacy he cut them off with "well I don't care if I share walls". Moving is not a trivial thing for most people Dan! Bits like that really sum up why I have trouble dealing with the guy. It kills me too because I like the energy he's brought to their stuff. Anyway, that's my Dan Ryckert rant of the day.
  9. Screenshots. Shots of your screen.

I have a screenshot somewhere from Bioshock Infinite where there was a prominent dust on the lens effect going on. Dude needs some eyewash!
  10. Twin Peaks Rewatch 8: The Last Evening

I'm going through the show for the first time, and I've generally assumed the killer wouldn't be someone we've seen yet. That it's some unseen evil element of the town, especially after it's alluded to that there's a darkness or something in the woods surrounding the town. But like others have said, the "whodunnit" element of the show isn't the part I'm most interested in so I haven't really dwelt on it. This may be from an episode or two back, but one thing that bothered me was that after Cooper found Audrey in his bed, he said he was going to get some coffee and then she could tell him all her secrets, but they never return to that right? What did she tell him? Anything about her plans for the perfume counter or her dad's scheming? I'm curious what Cooper knows. One last thought...that hunchbacked seamstress is ridiculous right? She seems pretty ridiculous.

Dan's diet of Taco Bell and malt liquor will be his undoing. He's 30 right now I think? Once that metabolism slows down he's gonna look like Bender in that Futurama where he becomes human.
  12. Ferguson

I mean, besides Wilson's testimony, the prosecutor was calling other eye witnesses and then subsequently discrediting them. This is insane right? Why did he even call them!? Considering the evidence and testimony, I doubt they would have gotten a conviction anyway, but this grand jury process was definitely a joke.
  13. The DS is ten years old.

Let's take a moment to honor the greatest rhythm game there ever was, Elite Beat Agents.
  14. Movie/TV recommendations

You'll find out in my Birdman/Birdman slashfic coming soon.
  15. Destiny

Is it possible to use dubstep unironically anymore? If anyone wants to try and get together this weekend to do the raid, I'd be interested, otherwise I won't be free for something like that until after Thanksgiving. Also there's a Destiny thread in the Multiplayer subforum that has a bunch of our psn id's (mine is spork_armada if you're lazy) though obviously people are playing a lot less frequently at this point. Jdawg, story content aside, those cutscenes are all well done, so congrats man.
  16. Movie/TV recommendations

I watched a few movies recently. I saw Birdman, which I had kinda mixed opinions on. I thought the dialogue felt very...artificial, I guess? It's hard to put my finger on but the writing never really sat quite right with me. But the whole one long shot thing is cool and mostly works and even with that main complaint of mine in mind, the acting is good so I'd still say it's worth checking out. I also just watched Blood Simple, which isn't exactly new, but whatever because I loved it. I think that's the only Coen bros movie I hadn't seen. Those guys are pretty talented!
  17. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

It's been a long time since I played it so I don't remember details...are you saying you got stuck just before that stage? Because it was my favorite in the game. Worth some tedium to get to IMO.
  18. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Did you get to the Milkman Stage?
  19. Destiny

We did! Three of us got together at least (JonCole, Korax, and myself) and got three random people from destinlfg or whatever it is. Very different for sure, but I had fun. Probably helped that several people already knew what to do so we were never stuck for long. Makes me wish there was even a bit of that variety in the regular missions. I'd be willing to do it again if anyone on here ever wants to.
  20. Destiny

Yeah I haven't been putting much time in either just because I've wanted to play some other stuff but I'll probably give this a shot. I completely missed the other Iron Banner event so I'm excited to have this whole new mode to get dominated in. Though I'm a little confused by the new medallion thing. Why have this weird system that I have to redeem instead of just giving less rep for losing a match like in the other Crucible modes?
  21. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

I dunno, mechanically it's really straightforward and it's 2D, so the controls are easy to pick up and the character movement is straightforward, plus there's a lot of depth once you start getting into it. As long as they're ok with all the dumb poo art, I could totally see it grabbing a gaming newbie.
  22. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

My input as a total newbie. I've gotten to/beaten Mom a couple times now. I've probably done a couple dozen runs? The game is fun but I feel like I'm a little too at the whim of the rng and what items I'm given. I mean, it's cool to see how different items work together and work with what you've got, but it seemed like some runs were just never going to happen. Regarding charge shots, I only got that once with an item called Chocolate or something. I found it very annoying.
  23. Twin Peaks Rewatch 6: Cooper's Dreams

Maybe they figured Leo would come along out of pity?
  24. Backlog Busters

Yeah I recently looked through my Humble library and there were quite a few games that I was somewhat interested in that I didn't realize I owned, thanks to them being added after I bought the bundle. That combined with PS+ have resulted in a game library that's daunting to say the least. I just need to completely neglect my social life for a while and I can make some progress on this thing.
