Even for players at the endgame it's still useful for a couple things. Mainly that ascendant energy is still needed to level up legendary weapons and there are a few weapon drops that are really good (notably you can get primary weapons with elemental damage on them which are super useful for nightfalls with burn modifiers on), plus several of the drops have chances of giving exotics. Normal difficultly will be harder to find a group for though, since a lot of the good stuff only drops in hard mode. I just looked at your gear...you might hit 30 once your helmet is upgraded a few slots. Then you could do HM VoG without being underleveled (or even Crota, which would be good in its own way).

If it makes you feel better, the nightfall only has a chance of giving you mats (I think the reward pool is mats, coins, and legendary/exotic gear) and I don't think the weekly heroic strike ever does (just coins and engrams). The daily story is guaranteed to give a few at higher difficulties though and usually doing public events will give you some. Or you can run the Vault of Glass which, even on normal difficultly, should give you a good haul (of course if you are trying for shards the RNG will sense this and give you only energy).

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS
Professor Video Games replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
Yeah same here. Their feed is pleasantly low on fluff/clickbait articles which is hard to find these days. -
I think you might just barely get there if you have an exotic in one slot and everything is maxed out. But yeah, otherwise you are stuck with Crota gear which is kinda lame. Hopefully for the next expansion they come out with either some sort of cosmetic armor system or a way to upgrade old gear.

Yeah, the vendors now have gear with light levels high enough to get you to lvl 30, so do the strike playlists plus dailies/weeklies/bounties to get the multitudes of currencies needed for that gear (commendations, rep, and marks...stupidly convoluted, I know). Remember to get gear with the Strength/Intelligence/Discipline attributes you want. Only the Crota Raid has gear to get to level 32.

I still play this pretty regularly. The expansion is alright. The extra missions are at least a little novel in that the story progression (using the term "story" loosely here) combine some standard missions with some overworld activities and finish with the new strike. It's still essentially more Destiny though, nothing drastically different. The Crota raid is good too, though I do think I like the Vault of Glass better. My recommendation would be to go through the vanilla content first, notably the first raid if you can, before picking up the expansion. At that point you will know if you're ok with running these missions again and again (a la weekly strikes, daily stories, and bounties). Like Griddlelol, I still enjoy it because I find the combat so fun, but some people understandably get bored of it. I'm in the US so I doubt our play times will line up often, but I'll shoot you a friend request anyway.

I think the ideal way to watch football is to dvr it and start watching an hour or two after kickoff. Skip all the breaks and if you time it right you can catch up with the live feed right as the game is ending.

Oh I didn't think of that. Time to start swiping I guess.

Finally the game from that Next Generation episode can become a reality.

I just reopened my okcupid account a week or two ago (happy new year!) and yeah I see a lot of girls' profiles have big disclaimers saying they aren't looking for hookups or threesomes or whatever. It's gotta be the worst having to weed through all that garbage. Actually I'm supposed to meet up with someone from there next week...ugh dating is the worst. I haven't used Tinder since it pulls only from Facebook pictures, which I almost never use, so with the exception of some Halloween pics there's nothing of me on there from the past several years and I don't feel like randomly putting up some shitty selfies. Maybe I should just get over it so that I can be one of the cool kids.

Infinifactory: Like Spacechem in 3D

I've been feeling pretty good about myself lately. About time I got knocked down a peg or two. -
Saw Inherent Vice over the weekend. Very mixed feelings on it. I haven't read the book and though I tried my best to keep up with the plot, I was pretty lost by about 2/3rds of the way through. But even if the plot details didn't matter, it generally just moved too quickly to ever let anything develop. That said, there were some great moments (mostly revolving around Josh Brolin eating things) and the whole web of conspiracies that may or may not be real atmosphere certainly felt like a good Pynchon translation based on the little of his other stuff I've read.

Modern medical imaging has enabled us to actually see Zues' kidney stone. Spoilered because it's pretty disturbing.

Grim Fandango being remastered for PS4 and Vita
Professor Video Games replied to Thrik's topic in Video Gaming
The movement inputs are relative to the character, not the camera, so pushing the up arrow key always makes Manny walk straight forward regardless of what direction he is facing on screen. The left and right keys make him turn I think. -
I don't have any moral objection to eating meat, but the engineer in me hates the waste of resources that raising animals requires and I generally object to the conditions animals have to be in to keep the whole process cost effective. I've cut back on my meat consumption pretty significantly over the past few years but I admit I'd have a hard time eliminating it entirely.

The star bits stuff was fine, but remember those levels where you had to hold the controller vertically to move Mario on that ball? Yuck.

Yeah those are both good ones for sure. A recent one I really liked was #326 (2014 Holiday Spectacular). Ho ho!

The Comedy Bang Bang podcast is one I like. The quality varies a bit depending on the guests/characters but it's rarely bad and there have been a few times I was concerned about my driving because I was laughing so hard.

Idle Thumbs 191: Not the Greatest, but the Best

A movie where they drag the corpse of Indiana Jones around the world on a wacky adventure? Just watch Crystal Skull again. Zing! -
I was browsing through stuff on Amazon Prime Instant Video and found an HBO comedy half hour by Louis CK from 1996. If you're a fan it's an interesting watch because you can see the elements that would evolve into his modern act. Also totally fascinating because it's mostly terrible. At one point he does several impressions, including one of JFK as a Vietnamese prostitute. It's so bad...
