You don't talk about getting a new kitten without posting pics. It's unacceptable. Unacceptable!

Damn it, but computers have become really complicated

Just make sure you buy the mousepad's 64-bit version. -
I Had a Random Thought (About Video Games)
Professor Video Games replied to tegan's topic in Video Gaming
My mind was wandering the other day and I was thinking back to the first PC I built for myself, and I had gotten a Soundblaster Live Gamer Edition (or something dumb like that). That thing came with Unreal Tournament, Deus Ex, Thief 2, and MDK2 all bundled in. GBOAT (Greatest Bundle Of All Time)? -
Glad to hear they don't have him doing his Nathan Drake Voice I watched the previous stream, but I'll probably skip out on this one. I think it will be more fun to go into the new zone blind. I'm sure there will be a list of important takeaways as soon as it's done anyway.

Just be careful, because once the postmaster fills up, any new items will bump out the oldest ones. But I don't think Year One legendaries will dismantle to marks, based on this quote in their last update: So the only reason I can figure they are saying to not dismantle things is that they will figure into your light level when TTK launches. In the same update as that quote they specifically say they will calculate your level based on your gear, so it's possible armor alone won't determine your starting value.

Idle Thumbs 224: Ms. Petman
Professor Video Games replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Yeah I want to say the same thing. The game is legit and Jenks' hammy delivery is perfect. The fact that he can somehow deliver about 1000 unique "Does THIS mean anything to you!?" lines without it ever getting boring deserves some serous kudos. Also I think the comparison to The Room is not a good one (I know Sean hasn't played the game yet). This isn't a so-bad-it's-good thing...it's just unexpectedly good (aside from the UI). Anyway, it's not super long and I really hope Chris and Spaff finish it. -
Thomas Was Alone Monument Valley The Room (probably The Room 2 also...haven't played that one)

Well while we're complaining I'll say that running on a treadmill is the worst and no amount of podcasts or music or TV can make it me last more than a few miles before I question my will to live.

Counterpoint: Exercise can definitely be fun and it's a matter of finding activities that you enjoy. Plus pushing yourself to the limit (and improving) is super satisfying and even if it's a grind sometimes at least you can come out of it with a hot bod. Meanwhile JRPGS are also a grind and all you get out of it is some really cliche story about a kid saving the world from a dumb ultimate evil.

It's a 5% damage decrease penalty, but the damage stats of the Y1 weapon itself are significantly lower (280 vs 160 or whatever the maxes end up being).
-
The limit on marks is just your wallet though. There's no weekly limit anymore, so just spend what you got and keep going. And though I agree to some extent on the new gear, the perks for them seem pretty cool. One thing wrt Year 1 exotics that's not entirely clear to me is if the 160 damage is their max or just the base, because they still have attack bubbles to fill, right? And assuming they're stuck at 160, then the fact that there's no Year 2 version of Gjallarhorn means Xur is the World's Greatest Troll.

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS
Professor Video Games replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
I'm sure if you're interested in being an investor and not a backer, there will be piles of paperwork to go through detailing how things will work and what the various party's obligations are. And I would think that unless you are fronting some majority portion of the game dev cost, the people running the company are the ones who get the final say of the game content as long as they're running things responsibly. And because it's interesting, here's what it takes to be an individual who qualifies as an accredited investor: Eesh... -

Windows 10: "It wouldn't be right to call it Windows 9."
Professor Video Games replied to Urthman's topic in Idle Banter
I dunno, the communication they (Ars) can decipher doesn't seem that bad, and it's hard to speculate on the ones they can't understand. And unless my googling has mislead me, the keylogger thing you're talking about was just a part of the Technical Preview and not the final release. -
What I want is to sign in and then check off all the activities I'd be up for doing. Then anyone could filter their friends list based on what they want to do and send out invites accordingly. Some people spam out invites to raids in the tower? Don't see that as often these days though.
-
The more the merrier, I say! That reminds my of what I hope is the actual yet-to-come big reveal for TTK: in-game clan functionality and/or LFG system
-
Yeah if the situation were reversed, Geno would have gotten a very stern talking to (other guy still gets released).

So you're saying it's pretty good then I've already got a full auto void Two To The Morgue that just melts Praetorians and Found Verdict does pretty damn well for arc, so solar is the only one I really want, but these days I'm just dumping weapon parts into Exotics I hadn't gotten around to leveling up.
-
Is Dry Rot any better than something like Found Verdict? I ask because I got an arc one not long ago, compared them and sharded it . The perks definitely weren't great and at this point I don't feel like wasting weapon parts on rerolls.

I can't speak for the new seasons, but the audio commentary on the originals is really good.

As far as scheduling stuff goes Friday/Saturday nights are always gonna be hit or miss for me...tonight's a miss unfortunately I got a Celestial Nighthawk from the big PoE chest last night...my hunter gear stash continues to grow. I think once TTK comes out I'll start one and use that xp ultra boost they're giving out to get her in fighting shape.
-
That is good, and then you argue why you should be above the average...experience, astounding talent, physical intimidation, etc. Then either they agree (awesome) or come back with some other number and the process repeats. Everyone has that little voice in the back of their head saying "if you ask for too much they'll just fire you" but unless you inflexibly ask for something insane and/or are a jerk about it, that's not going to happen.
-
The loot is just an incentive to do activities that you should hopefully enjoy on their own. Yeah, the gear you get now will be obsolete in a month or so, but your TTK gear will age out eventually too. If you're always waiting for the next update because current gear will become obsolete, you'll be waiting forever. That being said, it's not a bad idea to play with a mind on the fact that current gear has a very short lifetime left...I would just do stuff you enjoy or haven't done before and have less of an eye on leveling up or acquiring any particular gear (aside from exotics, which will be upgradeable...somehow).
-
Yeah totally agree about the raids. I would love to see a whole new set of weapons drop from them. Leave the Fatebringers and Black Hammers behind and add some new guns with new perks to the mix.
-
Well, in standard Crucible the Matador would still be viable since damage is normalized, right? So nerfing those perks is still necessary.
