For any fans of Hiroyuki Imaishi (of FLCL, Diebuster, Dead Leaves, Re:Cutie Honey, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann... fame) Stumbled on this recently. I don't know how I missed it considering its from Gainax. Clearly insipired by North American cartoons, but with the usual Imaishi fan service, and toilet humour. If you want to watch some good SC2 just pony up some cash and get a GOMTV GSL season pass. You get an impossible to watch number of top quality games, the better ones all casted by Tastetosis the casting archon. I bought a year pass, and it has been a constant source of entertainment. It took me a while to warm up to Tasteless, but I've come to love their weird tangents, and general goofyness. They have a habit of going off the rails, but I don't mind it, a bit like the Idle Thumbs podcast. This.

Don't run along the ground... you have a jet pack. Don't hide behind and rock and take pot shots at players... they have jet packs. Two main things you need to know are skiing, and leading your shots when moving at high speeds. Speed, and momentum are your cover. You slow down/stop... you will die. The advice I give my friends is start out with the light armour Pathfinder, and go ski around in an empty game, learn the terrain. The Pathfinder has a forgiving amount of energy regeneration, and a light spinfusor which also allows you to learn how to lead your shots, and general disk spinning tactics. When you start fighting, you will need to know where you are going, and what your next hill/ski is, so you can focus on the kill, and not the terrain. Failing to ski properly while fighting means the other guy gets away, or more likely kills you. It is also possible to change direction sharply, which can save your life, as much as your target's, so knowing where he is going is just as important. But that's boring... okay, go play deathmatch then. Once you are In a deathmatch game, try to kill the flag bearer, grab the flag, and ski like your life depended on it... cause it does. The lag bearer doesn't need to shoot, just survive. Perfect high pressure skiing. Once you can grab the flag and hold it for a decent amount of time (~quarter of the match) then you know the terrain/maps, and how to ski. Once you can ski, and fight with some level of competency, then add the extra layer of complexity that is CTF.

Will NimbleBit's new free to play airline sim soar to the same heights as Tiny Tower (Apple's AppStore Game of the Year 2011)? The goal of the game is to ferry people and cargo from airport to airport to earn coins and plane parts. Then use those coins and plane parts to expand to new aiports, and build new planes for your fleet. Like their previous games it runs on real time timers as the planes travel from airport to airport, and the ubiqutous real cash currency is available to speed up planes, and purchase new planes. Though in true NimbleBit style, they are ways to earn the cash currency in-game without spending a dollar. I found Tiny Tower to be surprisingly generous compared to other social games. It looks like they decided to add a few more social elements than they had in Tiny Tower. Players can trade plane parts they earned with their game center friends, and players can form teams called Flight Crews (just type in the name, no need to add/friend everybody) and compete with other Flight Crews at global events. The one example shown of a gobal event was a target city was said to be hosting a large convention, and for the next 2 days everybody who drops off people/cargo in that target city earn a point for their Flight Crew. After the event is done, prizes (special planes/cash currency) are awarded to Flight Crews, and players who scored the most during the event. Which is a pretty cool idea. I'm going to pick it up when it becomes available in my area tonight, and give it a shot. Haven't had a slow burner like this on my phone in a while. This one looks promising to me. Now I just have to find a decent size Flight Crew to join, I'm thinking Gaf, or the Touch Arcade forums will have a decent size crew.

Well for those who did pick it up, and are wondering about what flight crew to join here is the break down. The current global event is a chemical spill in Calgary. Rewards are 100bux for first place, 50bux top10, 20bux top 100, 10bux top 1000 flight crews. You need to do a minimum of 10 drops to be eligible for the Flight Crew's prize. #TOUCHARCADE is leading with 13,052 drops in Calgary. #SOMETHINGAWFUL follows with 9226. #GAFAIR is thrid with 7581. #IGN (i'm told) is fourth with 1390. Not to sure who the others are... but those are the big players at the moment. From there it quickly drops down with the 10th place Flight Crew having only done 210 drops. Seeing as I've made 62 drops myself already, that's not to hard to do. So pick a crew make a path to Calgary, and start hauling those doctors, nurses, hazmat guys, and medkits to Calgary.

New snapshot for this week is a bit underwhelming. Apparently they had a national holiday. Mostly just bug fixes. Here are the bigger bullet points. - Adjusted xp curve. - Reduced xp earned from mining by two thirds. - Boats control better, and go faster. - Arrows now trigger tripwires, and wooden pressure plates. ... and a bunch of other small fixes. Jeb also stated that they are now preparing to release the 1.3 update, and that bug/performance fixes will be norm until then. My own unfinished TP. I posted a version a while back if you want to give it a try. Oh I know. It's 4 fast double pulsars. It can be very laggy just to run, and shouldn't be left running. Five minutes is a long time to have this thing running. I have 6 duplicators hooked up to the clock. I haven't timed it, but I'd estimate this thing generates around 400-500 resource blocks per minute. (Now I'm curious... I'm going to jump on and get an actual number.) EDIT // Yeah it's a monster. It generates 1,150-1,200 collectable entities per minute. A 5 minute timer would not be a good idea. Love it !! I'm on board. Got any sketches, or art reference to back it up? Something we can use as a guide?

I'm trying desperately to look past the plethora of cool cameos which have my inner child giggling with anticipation. I think the story about how many lawyers it took to make that Bad-Anon scene a reality is probably more interesting. My worry is that the cute cameos will get steam-rolled by the poorly conceived non-licensed "game worlds" he visits. Everythign else... Animation, and production quality looks top shelf though. Looking forward to it.

The pit is coming along nicely. /confirmed Tabacco is always in there working like a machine. Makes me wonder, aside from making a giant hole (which is awesome on it's own), what is the end goal. Cho was talking about possibly starting a large scale castle project, probably made of sandstone. One thing I'm not a fan of is the destruction of every desert biome within 5 minutes of spawn. So I've built a sand block duplicator for players to use instead of further damaging surrounding desert biomes. Sand & Glassworks - located accross the street from the spawn tree. Phase 1 - Area cleared/leveled. Complete. Phase 2 - Build fast gravity block duplicator (works for sand & gravel). Complete. Feel free to use it. Phase 3 - Build a cool building around it. Co-op is always a big sell for me. I love clowning around, and stumbling through a game with a friend or two. Saints Row the Third was perfect for this, and we played the shit out of it. Looking forward to doing the same in FC3.
