  1. Idle Thumbs 186: Doctor DNA

I think it's worth pointing out that this (and arguably still is: Skyfall certainly makes use of it) a Hollywood-wide trope, not just a Disney thing.
  2. Its beginning to look a lot like GOTY

Yeah, back in January. Towerfall was released last year, but was an Ouya exclusive at the time, so I consider that a 2014 release also.
  3. Its beginning to look a lot like GOTY

It was a great year for local multiplayer stuff. I really enjoyed Sportsfriends, Nidhogg, and Towerfall: Ascension and I've heard good things about this year's Mario Kart and Smash. Look forward to playing those whenever I pick up a Wii U.
  4. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Yeah, I was somewhat looking forward to the Star Control reboot. Not so much anymore.
  5. Previously, I pictured Pierre Bernard when any of the thumbs mentioned Pierre Shorette. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x6OpjA140c
  6. 1. Rad video. 2. I can actually put a face to Pierre's name now. Cool. 3. Jonathan Mann must have a ton of purple shirts.
  7. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

That fix is also rumored to affect multiplayer, so it's probably best to restart the game without that command-line modifier whenever you want to jump into a multiplayer match.
  8. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

I think your keep state might not have imported properly.
  9. Jurassic World: Wasting away in Margaritaville

The hybrid dinosaur is one of the dumbest Hollywood things imaginable. Like who could possibly think that giant reptilian predators aren't scary enough as is?
  10. It's always hard to separate a young pop artist's choices from those of his or her handlers, but I think it is worth noting that both Miley Cyrus (a Disney child star with strong ties to Nashville) and Katy Perry (who started her career as a gospel artist in Nashville) both embraced the sex symbol pop star archetype (which for shitty reasons catches a lot more criticism than a male pop star like Justin Timberlake or Usher doing the same).
  11. The terrible wallet scourge of the Amiibo.

    That one's due next year.
  12. Star Citizen

To celebrate the two-year anniversary of the end of their initial crowd-funding campaign, the developer has put a bunch of fake internet spaceships back on sale for a week. In addition, they're selling 5,000 copies of the final game for $20 on the 28th of the month. That's $10 less than the early-bird kickstarter tier, so it's likely the best pre-order price we'll see.
  13. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

Yeah, so far I get the impression that there's about the same amount of main story content as every Bioware game here, but there's a ton more side-quest filler. I don't mind that at all. The environments are so well done that I actually enjoy wandering through them doing inconsequential chores while my party banters with each other.
  14. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

FYI, the game is unlocked right now in Korea, and Origin usually gets along fine with VPNs.
  15. Double Fine - Kickstarter - MASSIVE CHALICE

Yeah, it's early access and not in any way frame-rate-dependent. I was running the beta on a budget GPU and didn't have any issues.
  16. Double Fine - Kickstarter - MASSIVE CHALICE

I have a 60Hz monitor and it seems like it's capped at 60FPS for me. I don't see a V-Sync option in the menu, but that might be what's limiting me there. It's a turn-based game, so I didn't notice it until I just fired up FRAPS to check the framerate for you, but even with a GTX-970 and 16GB of RAM I do see framerate drops down into the low 40's at times with all the settings maxed-out when I scroll around the map.
  17. Fantasy Finale XV

It sounds like they're finally patching in some graphics options for the FF XIII port now that the XIII-2 one is about to be released. My PS3 died on me about half way through FF XIII, so I might finally give it another go now (or at least when I'm done with the new Dragon Age).
  18. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

I don't think I've ever bought an Origin game through GMG, but I've never had a problem purchasing Steam games through them. I recently preordered Civ: Beyond Earth from GMG and was able to pre-load on Steam with no issues. Looking at their site now, the discount on Inquisition ($12 off) only seems to be showing up on their VIP page, which I think you need a registered account with them to see.
  19. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

I just saw that the Fallen London / Sunless Sea folks made a browser-based game that takes place right before Inquisition. It's part of the Dragon Age Keep website that you otherwise use to input your decisions from the previous games in the series.
  20. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

Eurogamer reviewed the PC version and didn't note any issues beyond needing a new GPU to max out the graphical settings. edit: The RPGFan review does mention some issues: The reviewer goes on to describe clipping issues, some wonky animations, some issues with camera management, and long load times, but concludes: "Some clunkiness only detracts a little from one of Bioware's best RPGs in years."
  21. Nobody expects the Dragon Age Inquisition

Bioware streamed some of the multiplayer last week (skip ahead to about 3:00 for the start of the stream or 7:00 for the start of the first session). It's more of a dungeon crawl than the horde-mode sort of gameplay from ME3, which I found surprising. I kind of got a Diablo / MMO raid vibe from what I saw.
  22. For me, the insanely high skill and knowledge ceilings are most of the draw with Dota. 500+ games in, I feel like I still learn something new every game and that keeps me coming back for more. With those two factors almost completely boiled out, I'm not sure where the appeal lies, especially as an esport.
  23. Games giveaway

It's all yours. I just sent you a message.
