  1. Tribes: Ascend

I never understood why tribes didn't take over...
  2. Might and Magic Heroes VI: Reordered Words

I always thought the greatest appeal to HOMM was playing ont he same PC with your buddy for hours and hours on end. The Franchise is a lot of fun - from working the castle upgrades, to amassing that one giant army, to exploring for mines and pooping yourself when an enemy hero entered your lands... the game is uber-complicated chess with surprisingly high re-playability. HOMM3 was the standard, and then - yeah - they tried taking themselves seriously. I have faith this new game was made by people that loved HOMM and people that take pride in their work. So I hope it's a well-polished product.
  3. Max Payne 3

I just know that rockstar knows how to blend comedy with being bad-ass. which i think is called "smart-ass." They'll make a great gritty, smart-ass, desperate, lost all hope but for his sense of justice, bearded, bald Max Payne. I have faith in rockstar.
  4. I'm gonna smoke a lot of w33d and play dis thing until my eyes bleed
  5. Amanita Design's latest creation is trippy!

well, i have no idea what Machinarium is... but this is sick. thanks for the link!
  6. Portal 2

it's amazing how a little humor can go a long way. hell, it's what kept duke nukem on top back in the day. The only thing is that I don't like puzzle games or anything to do with puzzles in video games. I see them as a chore, perhaps because they make you /think/.
  7. Swarm

    the swarm website is hilarious!!!
  8. Plug your shit

sponsor? to sponsor you, you'd have to do things you wouldn't like. but we can work something out with that talent of yours! (the drawing, the drawing). I've been looking for artists to do digital graphic novels for tablet devices. check your PM
  9. Dreams!

anyone else here have prophetic dreams? Being a skeptic, I used to think my dreams were closely resembling real events, or maybe my mind was bridging the gap between what i dreamt and what occurred - sort of like assumptive memory (psychology accepts this function of memory). but then I started writing details down and they would actually occur. Now, I've just accepted prophetic dreams, that I sometimes have 'em, and because I dream a lot and dream very vividly I've just accepted that dreams can either be the mind re-playing images or re-playing images that will occur (i still believe it's a "re-play" because of some personal convictions about time and the 3rd and 4th dimensions). just wondering if anyone else here has had or thinks they've had prophetic dreams (ie - thing happens in your dream then exact same thing happens in life)?
  10. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

  11. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

That Balkan Epic video is sooooo confusing. I'm Balkan myself (Bulgarian) and I just stared at it in full confusion. Full. Confusion. But i sorta wanna fuck a bridge now.
  12. Plug your shit

srsly, mate, quit your day job and feed me hobo lobo panels!
  13. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

so, here's a question - is assassin's creed: brotherhood too easy? the 1st and 2nd ones were far too easy, imo.
  14. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

for those of us that like to wobble XFGv_lhswcE
  15. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

I hated the first one because it was so beautiful, yet so repetitive. The second one was alright, but it still didn't quite hit the spot. Now this one I suppose I'll need to look into. Also, about Machiavelli's Prince, since the book came up, there's a strong scholastic theory out there (circulated in the ivory towers of academica) that Machiavelli was not only trying to anger the populace, but was actually giving negative advice in an attempt to get the prince (who had tortured Machiavelli previously) in trouble. Look at what the book says: 1. better to be feared than loved 2. arm your populace 3. Don't trust foreign intervention, but rely entirely on your own people (who hate you and are armed) now that's a recipe for disaster
  16. School Shooter: North American Tour 2012

I'm surprised at how well the developer handled the interview. Though I personally am opposed to this type of game and think it feeds the wrong type of personalities, I still have to defend the right for this game to exist. The issue with violence like school shootings is that our society is still very restrictive and judgmental. If we emphasize personal responsibility and allow people to use what they want to use, there is a strong sociological argument that sociopathic behavior would be largely curbed. I think bringing things like this out in the open without immediately demonizing the game (it's a game, after all) would allow a much more healing atmosphere, where someone that would commit an awful crime could feel much safer asking for help. If we can't draw a distinct line between games and reality we need to re-think our socializing methods/structures - from parents and churches to schools and popular media. Currently, if someone has homicidal tendencies there is very little they can do to seek help rather than be instantly labeled a monster. Then again, I'm not a sociopath (as far as I can tell) so I wouldn't exactly know what pushes someone over the limits of fantasy and into actually carrying out an act of hatred. I just think many of us are taught to bottle up hatred and think that we're damaged or somehow defective if we have violent tendencies. A deliberative society that encourages discussion would have a much lower rate of such crime, I'd think.
  17. Hawken, or: Fuck Me, Mech Games Are BACK!

Man, I remember playing Slave Zero! It was amazing for its time. Let's bring that back. someone - quick - make it for smartphones or tablets, so I can play that puppy on my ipad!
  18. Dino D-Day

this doesn't look different enough, but I gotta say - anyone else get nostalgic about the golden days of AvP(2) when looking at this?
  19. Hawken, or: Fuck Me, Mech Games Are BACK!

you know, the more I look at the trailer, the more excited I am because of the setting. the scenery is great. maybe this is me growing up in a communist country where tower blocks ruled the skies, but being able to duke it out amidst massive tower blocks, jumping off highway ramps, is a dream come true any way you slice it.
  20. Batman: Arkham City

erm, harley. yes. harvey was courting me for months and I had to ahve the awkward talk of "we're just villains, not lovers."
  21. We Dare

  22. Batman: Arkham City

not only does this game look sick, but I would love to get into harvey's pants. Catwoman tries to be "dangerous" but Harvey's a true lunatic. Ah. So fine. Also, what's with these "smart" villains like Hugo Strange? bah.
  23. New people: Read this, say hi.

Well, I am actually a bot, but with human feelings programmed into my CPU. I have followed many paths on my search for becoming a real boy, but have yet to find the proper code to put into my system as a way to humanize my circuits. I am made of silicon wafers and like to charge for fun! I'm also an indie developer with my first game on the way, and I found this forum by hunting down an old friend, someone I knew over ten years ago - Toblix. Google told me he posts here from time to time now and I stumbled into this nice community. If it's good enough for that madman, it's certainly too good for me, but again - in my quest for humanhood (not manhood, we bots are androgynous), I will follow no path too high or low. And I suppose my path has led me here. I've Idle Thumbs, for sure, and so far love reading through the posts here. A fine, fine community ya'll have, and I hope to be a welcome addition to it! A celebration to all is in order! Jump, jump for joy! jump higher! higher! :woohoo:
  24. Hawken, or: Fuck Me, Mech Games Are BACK!

Even though the machines didn't look to FEEL solid and heavy, the environment and graphics more than made up for it. Anyone else feel like we're not too far from a video game world that feels as rich as some of our favorite animes? A crowded multi-level metropolitan area that you get to unleash your mech upon? a-heeeeeeeeell-yes.
  25. Internet Comics

Dresden Codak might be sick, but kingjester's hobo lobo comic has the most alluring art style I've seen of ANY internet comic to date. and I mean ANY. Amazing job, KingJester. This thread is full of gold! Personally, I can't wait for the next installment of hobo lobo and I'm about to dive into Dresden Codak's weird world(s)
